Call For Informants: If You Oppose Obamacare, Even in ‘Casual Conversation,’ the White House Wants to Know About It

From RedState.com...

If you see anybody publicly opposing President Obama’s plan to implement a government-centric overhaul of the health care system, the White House wants you to report that person (or persons) ASAP.

From the White House website:

"There is a lot of disinformation about health insurance reform out there, spanning from control of personal finances to end of life care. These rumors often travel just below the surface via chain emails or through casual conversation. Since we can’t keep track of all of them here at the White House, we’re asking for your help. If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov."

Emphasis added. Of course, as we’ve seen in the health care debate to date, the term “disinformation” is used by the Obama White House as a catchall to describe any opposition to the President’s push for single-payer, government-run health care — meaning the White House wants to be informed of any forwarded emails or blog posts or any “casual conversations” that could be taken as opposition to their health care overhaul plan.

The White House has, as yet, offered no explanation of what it is they plan to do with the tips on policy opposition they hope to receive from citizen informers.

Interestingly, as Jake Tapper pointed out on Twitter this morning, the title of that post on the White House is a quote from John Adams’ 1770 “Argument in Defense of the Soldiers in the Boston Massacre Trials.”

"Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passion, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence."

John Adams, 'Argument in Defense of the Soldiers in the Boston Massacre Trials,' December 1770
US diplomat & politician (1735 - 1826)

MORE from the Underground Conservative's post "The War Against the Internet"

Human Events reports that the attacks on opponents of government-run health care that are showing up at town hall meetings and other public appearances of Congresscritters are part of a planned Democrat Statist strategy.

You can read the memo here.

Here are some of the talking points:

Our message is simple. It is in sync with the White House. And it counters the Republican ‘government takeover’ message. Hold the insurance companies accountable. Remove them from between you and your doctor. No discrimination for pre-existing conditions. No dropping your coverage because you get sick. No more job or life decisions made based on loss of coverage. No need to change doctors or plans. No co-pays for preventive care. No excessive out-of-pocket expenses, deductibles, or co-pays. No yearly or lifetime cost caps on what insurance companies cover.

In other words, just keep to the talking points. Stay on message. And when that fails, deny, deny, deny, obfuscate, obfuscate, obfuscate … then attack the messenger in vile personal terms. Call ‘em “Teabaggers” and accuse them of conducting an Astroturf campaign, when it’s the supporters of government-run health care that are the Astroturfers … SEIU, AFSCME, ACORN … all funded by George Soros.

The Leadership is working in close coordination with the White House and outside groups (including but not limited to HCAN, Families USA, AFSCME, SEIU, AARP, etc.) to ensure complementary efforts during August. The President, Secretary Sebelius and other principals in the reform debate will be working throughout the month to hold events, promote the message in the press and move the reform effort forward. We are also working closely with supportive organizations (read: ACORN) to ensure they are implementing comprehensive plans for August that include grassroots efforts, media strategies and anything else that can add to the momentum.

And the vile personal attacks against the opponents of government-run health continue unabated.

(CNSNews.com) – Democrats have a warning for Republicans: Angry constituents who berate their congressional representatives at public forums are “dangerous” people.

“These are the sort of excessive displays that breed a backlash,” wrote a Politico.com blogger on Monday. The national press secretary for the Democratic National Committee linked to the Politico item in a mass email on Tuesday, effectively endorsing the blogger’s message.

“Yes, there is now much energy on the right,” Politico’s Jonathan Martin wrote on Monday afternoon, adding “there is danger in such raw passion.”

Funny, as Malkin reminds us, they didn’t have that opinion with the truly unhinged sufferers of Bush Derangement Syndrome.

The results? The ObamaBot Astroturf Machine is getting creamed in the real world by the grassroots opponents of government-run health care.

Now, the White House is striking back. They want you to report anyone who writes anything, says anything, tweets anything, blogs anything contrary to the party line … to them.

From Red State:

If you see anybody publicly opposing President Obama’s plan to implement a government-centric overhaul of the health care system, the White House wants you to report that person (or persons) ASAP.

From the White House website:

There is a lot of disinformation about health insurance reform out there, spanning from control of personal finances to end of life care. These rumors often travel just below the surface via chain emails or through casual conversation. Since we can’t keep track of all of them here at the White House, we’re asking for your help. If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov.

Wonder what they are going to do to us who are opposing them. It’s clearly an intimidation tactic to get opponents to shut up.

It’s the Chicago Way. But what do you expect from a collection of Chicago street thugs?

In other words, what do you expect from a pig but a grunt?

  4. Holy Crapola!!!

This is one sentence on White House website "Reality couldn't be further from the truth." Freudian slip? They are admitting they are a bunch of liars and that we conservatives of the blogosphere are telling the truth about Obamacare.

    This is utterly outrageous :(

I think its time for me to enact my idea of starting a community newsletter, to let citizens know the reality about Obamacare. This is a far reaching power grab by the Obama administration in regards to both stopping any opposition to Obamacare and the Obamacare bill.

  7. When Obama's totalitarian, unconstitutional policy overreaches are resisted, he doubles-down on the totalitarianism. Damn.

I need to shut up and simmer down for a bit. 'Cuz if I say what I really want to say, it might tend to be incriminating.

Progressivism/liberalism has always been authoritarian, from its very beginnings in the 19th-century. But it's still suprising that a repulsive crapnozzle like Reid would be so honest about it.

This is just the beginning...the beginning of the end for the kingdom of liberal slime built on the statist dungheap of The Great Society. They always resort to terror when they smell blood...their own, in this case.

What's coming is unpredictable, with no certain outcome except the de-legitimization of American government. A ruling class on the run will always make things worse by increasing its weight and mass to squeeze conformity out of the population. It never works.

Some of us are old enough to have witnessed and contemplated the turbulence of the '60's. I was a liberal then; I know how they think and how they work out their compulsions to power. Real courage, they don't have.

I say bring it on. Anyone in my face at a town hall meeting, or asking about me will regret it forever. The time is now. No justice, no peace, no liberty, no life.

I have a universe of ideas and impressions and worries, Nickie.

No, silence isn't healthy, but I don't think the old Enlightenment idea about change through interlocution and persuasion and political dialogue has much power now, either, except to draw like-minded people together.

That's the only thing we can do, stay on the radio with each other in the darkness. The immense administrative state created by both parties since 1945 is, of course, Leviathan, and public opinion is very weak by comparison.

We don't know what The State will do to perpetuate itself in a time of diminishing prosperity. It can only thrive peacefully on excess wealth. It's dying now.

I'm convinced that all of it, legislatures, bureaucracies of all kinds, are now self-serving, and the health-care monster, among others, is a transfusion for a cadaver rather than a political act. The reasons for mass behavior are usually invisible.

No historical narrative now is useful as a means to figure out what is going to happen. This isn't Weimar or October 1917, or any other repeatable moment in history.

The only certainty for me now is that Obama and his cadres of gangsters, shills, supplicants and apparatchiks are a phenomenon of disintegration rather than stability.

I'm not a mystic, but something important has run off the rails in America...even '68 wasn't this strange, or anything in the war. You might approach an explanation with some avant garde script in the mode of Apocalypse Now...only high drama can explain it.

All of the '60's was a revolt of the elites...today we're seeing a revolt of government. We're just along for the ride. For us, we have to resist the morally repulsive and keep throwing ourselves into the breach even if we don't understand the mission.
You have to keep the lamps of liberty burning all the time, even when it seems futile.

My fear, Rhod, is that our 21st century lines of communication are almost exclusively public and electronic. All can be monitored, and the entire network of emails, blogs, twitters, cellphones, texting, radio, and television could, literally, be turned off with the flick of a switch.

Nickie, this emphasizes the point that we all need to touch base with out local groups. Folks we can see in real life at a tea party, perhaps. We should exchange phone numbers and even have some address info. Seriously. This scares me. Not in the way it intimidates me off of the web or even from emailing my contact list if I have something I feel is of vital importance. But I am scared for this country, if we are in a situation where ONE BILL is so important that they are asking for INFORMANTS against patriotic Americans. The taste in my mouth is sour. I feared this, and now it is here.

Here's one approach. I just sent the following email to flag@whitehouse.gov:

    "To Whom It May Concern,

In the following video, some one impersonating Pres. Obama is seen on camera stating that his goal is to take us to a single payer system, meaning that he will eliminate private insurance. However, the impersonator -- again, the resemblance to Pres. Obama is striking -- states that the goal is to end private insurance "over time". (Does it get free end-of-life counseling, I wonder?)

    See it for yourself:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p-bY92mcOdk

In all seriousness, could you please explain the video and the President's admission that he wants for private insurance to go away "over time". He has consistently stated throughout his career that he wants a single-payer system and that's what he would do, if starting from scratch. With the system we have in place, Pres. Obama has said that he would transition "over time" to a single-payer system. Please explain. I will look for it on your blog.

    Regards,

We need not fear the flick of the electronic switch - though I sincerely believe they will go that route. You said it yourself "the fight will be fought in living rooms, neighborhoods and over backyard fences." We will fight this fight by sharing one by one by one, explaining and shedding the light of truth...to our neighbor, our co-worker, our cousin, our pastor, our bank teller. One tells one, and the "army" grows. People do not want to lose their liberty and they can feel in their hearts that is what is happening. The air no longer feels free.

We must not stop speaking the truth until our voices combined are a single cry, louder and clearer than the muffled lies.

The socialism pic you have of Obama on the top of your site is disgusting...I HATED Bush, but I would never have done something so base to a picture of him. Even after friends and family members died in the war, even after all the lies. It takes shallow ugliness to create an image in which the President of the United States of America is depicted as a monster. It's wrong and if Republicans remembered their values, they wouldn't do it.

The Left created a very similar picture of Pres. Bush. I am sure you decried it.

I remember my values. Defend my president and my country.

I also remember that Leftists are estopped from relying upon unchanging values or morals to comment upon behavior. You people play without rules. You started this. Now, it's on. Doctrinaire pacifism is a legitimate and difficult life-choice because it means surrendering all the benefits of civilization guarenteed to you by OTHERS who will do violence on your behalf.

But here's the BIGGER requirement, and even Ghandi recognized it. Even if you refuse to fight and do violence, you MUST acknowledge
that it matters WHICH SIDE WINS!

Liberal secular pacifism is absolute, undiluted bullshit, indistinguishable from cowardism.
It's a mask of easy sanctimony, and I know its temptations.
After Vietnam I toyed with it, but it requires both more courage and more decency than I havee, and certainly more courage and decency that can be encompassed by the liberal brain.
