ReplyDeleteWhy was France just voted the country with the best health care system in the world? And it's socialized. My stepfather was a dentist in Paris and the real difference in their system and ours is that doctors just don't make as much money as their American counterparts.
ReplyDeleteDrs. in the US make more $$ than any other country. THAT'S who is really going to lose out. And that's who's doing the most lobbying.
I read a lot of posts on the health care debate... and I read the comments also...Amazing how the liberals keep saying how the social welfare system in this country or that country is so great..So move..emigrate to Canada, France..

ReplyDeleteDoctors flee from a country where they are not allowed fair compensation for their services. The doctors who remain are less competent, naturally. US residents prefer to keep the best doctors here in our country. We prefer the freedom to make our own choices in life.
If a person chooses cable TV and a cell phone over paying for health insurance, that is their right.
Suzy, I'm guessing your stepfather no longer practices in France. Was making less money not a strong enough draw to keep him there?
ReplyDeleteAnd I am acquainted with quite a number of US-based French nationals who never, during their visits home, take advantage of French health care.
In France, workers are required to pay 21% of their income into the national health care fund. For this they get 70% of their medical bills paid, and if they don't have supplemental insurance, they're responsible for the balance.
ReplyDeleteThe system this year was $9 billion in debt. It's created a three-tier system where the well-off and the poor get service, and middle-income people who can't afford supplemental, get limited treatment unless they're very sick.
It's a mixed system, doctors earn about 60% of what they earn in the US - it isn't a single-payer system, either.
The claim that doctors are the strongest lobby against ObamaCare is ludicrous. Do some research, Suzy, before you make face to face comparisons.
If the debate in this country was actually about "reform" instead of the reach of the Donks' Super State, then maybe we would get somewhere on the problems we face.

ReplyDeleteNot sure exactly what you meant there Suzy but, as has been explained- the broke nature of France is ALWAYS tied to their healthcare system (among other socialist problems)
Unless it's being used as an example to emulate and force a socialized system on another group of people.
