I've been on a couple of merchant ships in high seas. What fun to be on bow watch, thinking 'If that total ass of a young third mate would order me to the stand this watch on the wing of the bridge, all would be well.' I've always hoped he somehow, somewhere died a slow and horrible death.
Being an old Tin Can sailor, I have seen seas like that, but everything was bolted or strapped down but us. To have a cruise ship to act like that, the seas had to be as rough as in a hurricane. I would hate to have been in a destroyer that day (though I did ride out a typhoon back in 63.) Not fun.
I was able to spot Dianne Feinstein, Barbara Boxer, and Barney Frank.
