Skilled golfer sues over lost balls

Lana Lawless' suit puts gender in sports in spotlight again
USA Today

A basic tenet of modern athletics involves separation of the sexes. Yet that principle is increasingly being challenged on the court and in the courtroom.

Earlier this month, Kye Allums, a female-to-male transgender student on the women's basketball team at George Washington University, publicly discussed his decision to compete after coming out in a story first reported on Outsports.com.

The junior, 21, who once went by Kay-Kay Allums and has not had gender-reassignment surgery, is the first known transgender person to compete in Division I college basketball.

Allums' disclosure came on the heels of a legal challenge to theLadies Professional Golf Association's policy that its players be "female at birth." Lana Lawless, a 57-year-old transgender woman, filed a lawsuit Oct. 12 claiming the rule violates California civil rights law.

Loretta has something to say about this:

  2. I've been eagerly awaiting inter-gender wrestling at the Olympics for some years.

  3. Nickie, I saw a news video of Lana Lawless where he/she said in the opening "In California, I'm considered a woman". I said to myself "California is the ONLY place that would consider you a woman" and quickly hit pause on the video and navigated my browser far away...

  4. Bellllch.. Oh man, did I just eat that?
It is a private freaking club. If they don't want freaks in there there that is there business.

Besides it is completely unfair after all..it's a man....

I just had another funny thought.

On judgement day I think God might have a present for...it. A pair of lost balls.

I love the way the guy got distracted when talking about unalienable rights. HA!

  12. The whole sexual identity thing is nuts. My 26 year old son took a personality profile test while killing time in college. He was categorized as a lesbian trapped in a man's body. If someone can figure that out, go for it.
