Now This Kid's Got Stones

From Weazel Zippers:
(INN) — Muslim student Amran Hussain, speaking on behalf of the European Union of Jewish Students, recently spoke out for Israel a session of the United Nations Human Rights Council, where he castigated the Council for anti-Israel bias.

“Why is Israel consistently and conspicuously singled out for condemnation on the grounds of human rights violations, yet the world turns a blind eye to the human rights situations in the Arab countries . . . or the Far East . . . or Africa?” he asked.

Hussain told the Council he came to the session “to remind you of the moral obligation we all have here today to protect the only country in the world whose very existence is constantly under attack.

“The world was very quick to condemn Israel for defending itself from unrelenting rocket and mortar attacks from Gaza. I ask you, what about the human rights of Israeli Jews, Israeli Muslims [and] Israeli Christians living constantly in fear of attacks from Hamas.”
How long do you give this kid before some mullah issues a fatwa demanding the removal of his head? I say a week, maybe two at the most.

It will be difficult for that kid to avoid the nut jobs trying to kill him. When somebody's got cajones that big, it's hard to move around quickly.

There are many Muslims speaking out and wanting to speak out. Their voices are not heard through the din of Islamophobia spewed by the American right-wing. If you want more to come forward the hate has to stop - yes he's very courageous - maybe many more would be known to you if they felt they were among friends who judged them for their character and actions, not for their religion. 10. Wetzy - no problem with God remembering him. I just hope this kid is around long enough for us to remember him.

  11. Trestin - how I miss Reagan. Is there anyone out there who will say, "The bombing of Tehran starts in five minutes!" That's what brought the hostages home. We need to deliver on that promise.

  13. Chris - we can try but it is so hard to bring sense and logic to any argument with an asshat.

  14. Amran Hussain is a brave lad indeed but his accent tells of a background far removed from the English or Arab 'street'; just his difficulty with the word 'world' gives him away (he pronounces it "wolde" which is an English traler trash thing).
