  2. We’ve also gone from being able to get a blue-collar job with an 8th-grade education to expecting everyone to go to college whether it will help them or not. These trends are not independent of one another.

    Unfortunately, turning college into four more years of postgraduate daycare is ruining the quality of education there for those who actually might benefit. Pander to the lowest common denominator long enough, and you eventually lose the ability to do anything else.
