Sarah Hey at StandFirm aimed me toward this haunting collection of photographs from the Denver Post. Some of these photos send me hurtling into the shadows of my childhood - still distinct and poignant. Others seem as fresh and bold as this morning. Don't miss this snapshot of America.

Number 42. I was one of them.
Not to quibble, Nick, but I linked here to the full Smithsonian collection in a post last year(site below). It was a post that set Scunnie on fire.
You really need to see the entire display.

Just a few years before my time.
My parents were teens at this time. Helps to understand where their heads were at and how desperate people were because of the Great Depression. In our house nothing ever went to waste.
A post that set Scun on fire? That narrows it down.
DC, the image I used for the post was the one shown in the link...the little girl at the Southington, CT parade.
The was apparently too mawkish and America-centric for an anarcho-socialist Scotsman like Scun. He went full Yosemite Sam, but never laid a government-issue glove on me.
It was much too easy, but it always is.
