Call Your Dad

So, you're cruising on the interweb tubes early Saturday morning and you run into this.
It wasn't the best way to start my day.

You'll have to embigify this with your browser.

Call your dad, today, now.
I got the call at 10:15 PM on Fathers Day, 1990.

Will Colt Bolt?

What Happens In Connecticiut May Not Stay In Connecticut

From Fox News:
The president of one of the nation's oldest gun manufacturers closed down his Connecticut factory Thursday morning and bused 400 of his workers to the state Capitol so they could personally urge lawmakers not to pass gun control legislation that they say could risk their livelihoods.

Dennis Veilleux, president of the Hartford-based Colt's Manufacturing Co., said even though he has spoken with legislators and Gov. Dannel P. Malloy's staff about his trepidations several times, he believes they don't truly understand the financial ramifications of the legislation being proposed in the wake of the deadly Dec. 14 massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown.
Colt has been manufacturing firearms in the State of Connecticut for 175 years. That may be coming to an end.

Veilleux said gun customers are well-connected and know what is happening in different states in terms of gun control efforts.

"Our customers don't want to support the state of New York. So our customers aren't going to want to support the state of Connecticut," he said. "And our association is so strong with the state of Connecticut, that it's inevitable that it's going to begin to erode."
Pushback is a bitch.

Stinky Chavez

They waited too long. Hugo may now be a little too ripe for preservation purposes. Venezuela is faced with a decision: bury him, cook him or juice him?
Venezuela's government said on Wednesday it may not be possible to embalm the remains of late leader Hugo Chavez as planned because the process should have been started earlier.

Joe Biden's Dilemma

Today the White House announced that Vice President Biden will represent the US at the ordination of Pope Francis.
Vice President Biden, an observant Catholic, will lead the U.S. delegation to Rome for Pope Francis’s installation, a White House official confirmed. No dates have been announced, but the ceremony could take place as early as Tuesday on behalf of Jorge Bergoglio of Argentina, who was selected Wednesday.
However, Pope Francis adheres to the Aparecida Document, which declares the refusal of communion to those who support abortion and other liberal agendas:
New Pope Francis I is a conservative in the mold of his predecessor, Pope Benedict XVI and Pope John Paul II. That’s especially true on the issue of abortion, which he called a “death sentence” for the unborn in 2007. “We aren’t in agreement with the death penalty,” he said during that speech, “but in Argentina we have the death penalty. A child conceived by the rape of a mentally ill or retarded woman can be condemned to death.”

In the Aparecida Document, a document that represents a joint statement by Latin American church leaders but presented by Francis in 2007, the leaders stated, “we should commit ourselves to ‘eucharistic coherence,’ that is, we should be conscious that people cannot receive holy communion and at the same time act or speak against the commandments, in particular when abortions, euthanasia, and other serious crimes against life and family are facilitated. This responsibility applies particularly to legislators, governors, and health professionals.”

Waddya say we send "Observant Catholic Joe" some Nilla wafers to take with him to Rome? This way he won't feel left out.

You're only supposed to take one Joe, only one.

Where's The Protestors Now??

Where are they?

Where's the so-called enlightened youth who wanted to be free?
Where are those who didn't trust the establishment?
Where are those who didn't trust anyone over 30?

Where are the Abbie Hoffmans and the Chicago Seven?
Where are the students rising up in solidarity against an oppressive government?
Where's the Power To The People people?

I guess they all got what they wanted and now we have to pay for it.
