There was once when I wanted to commit suicide because I was so lonely after my husband died. The lady next door to me invited me over to teach me to knit anw watch Survivor. She saved my life.

Anon, I owed you one.

Wetz... So many of us have known the pain of loneliness, loss or abandonment. There's a reason why it's called a "broken heart". It can kill you.

Sometimes all it takes is a kind word and a smile. And even if that's not enough, it never hurts.

In Greek, the word for Holy Spirit is PARAKLETOS - the Comforter. The literal translation is "someone who comes alongside," an advocate, or teacher.

This is truly God's work, to draw back from the precipice those who, in their sorrow and loss, would take that final step into eternity.

The seat of the soul is in the heart. A broken heart, in Nick's words, is the dark night of the soul, not just the result of an earthly failure or disappointment.

It never heals, it just mends, and it's not supposed to. You have to have been there at least once to help others in the same place. That's part of the deal, and part of His plan.

Nickie mixes humour, God, and conservative politics and makes it work. I leave each visit here a wiser and kinder man.

Basti, sometimes you realize that Christ's gentlest voice is yours.

Siggie...

And I will pray the Father, and He shall give you
another Comforter, that He may abide with you for ever;
Even the Spirit of Truth; Whom the world cannot
receive, because it seeth Him not, neither knoweth Him:
but ye know Him; for He dwelleth with you, and shall be
in you.

(Gospel of John 14:16-17).

I often read that the U.S. conservative people hate and closed of mind. When I read your blog I read love and passion for people. Your blog makes me too happy about the world. Your author is quite witty and makes me laugh.

I am not a Christian but if I think it is Jesus Christ, I knew he would kiss you all. I have read your blog for a few years.

Merry Christmas to you all.
