Scouting Is Simply Fabulous!

There soon may be another way to get a hot wiener in your tent.

Sharing a sleeping bag on a chilly night is about to get a lot more interesting.

CNN reports
on the possibility of the Village Boy Scouts of America.
The Boy Scouts of America is considering changing its longstanding policy against allowing openly gay members, according to a news release from the organization.

The organization, which has 2.7 million members, is "potentially discussing" doing away with its national policy after months of protest, including hundreds of angry Eagle Scouts renouncing their hard-earned awards and mailing back their red-white-and-blue medals.

Many parents of Scouts across America found the national policy excluding gays confusing -- and at odds with basic scouting ideals.
I never knew buggery and table place setting were basic scouting ideals. What's the Merit Badges for those?

Personally, I believe politicians/activists have created the "write-in" and are using other backroom methods of twisting arms. I do wonder how cheap it is to buy such things and how easy it is for someone to write a letter, and how impossible it would be to check a huge rush of such letters? Then again, I am wondering if the board isn't in on it, though they might just be chicken@&*)$ too. I will not deal with the Boy Scouts, buying their stuff, helping with food drives, none of it, if this goes forward. The GSA is already scratched from my list, as are many other "charity" groups. Then again, I wonder if the aim isn't to kill these organizations, and stop what they do/used to do.

Kinda like women in combat eh? Long as they don't change the mechanic of being a scout.

I'll tell ya, scouting is one of my fondest memories. There were no homos there, but if there were, I'd have just ignored them and had a great time. Or maybe laughed at them,

Doom - I also question whether or not there is an organized "campaign" to influence the Board. Betcha it is all computer generated letters, maybe even form letters?

Kid - I was never a scout. But I played one on TV.

I just think of the scout master having all the guys jump in the lake and swim circles around him ... in the nude.

Relax scouts. That there's an albino water snake, but he won't hurt ya.

I caught this bit of verbal contortionism over at the CNN report on this: '"BSA members and parents would be able to choose a local unit that best meets the needs of their families," he said. "Under this proposed policy, the BSA would not require any chartered organization to act in ways inconsistent with that organization's mission, principles, or religious beliefs."'

All I could add to that was, 'At this time; should later events prove this unmanageable, all affiliates would, of course, have to abide by national rules.'

Do girls get to join the Boy Scouts?

I grew up in the era of gay scout leaders and was glad that by the time my kids came along, scouting had become morally straight. I am saddened to see scouting bend over and take this step backwards.

America is leaving conservatives behind. In another generation or two your children and grandchildren will not be so angry and hateful regarding homosexuals.

When I was a scout there were kids we knew were probably gay, and at least one scoutmaster we pretty much knew was gay. Sometimes there were jokes and snickering, but mostly we didn't care. Their sexuality didn't matter.

You can make jokes about "buggery merit badges" but the Scouts never offered "getting to first base", "knocking some chick up", "abstinence" or "marriage" merit badges either. So I'm not sure what your point is except to mock someone different than you. Have fun with your bigotry while you can, I guess.

And Yeti, people don't have to like you Or be around you. There's no crime in that.

Doom, excellent commentary. Especially the point about the government and their protection of perverts.
Add the schools, at least in caleeefornia. How about how they protected that POS who was feeding sperm to blindfolded grade school children that was fired and then sued and won.

We could use a little Cosa Nostra for shit like that eh. Some things need to receive some proper justice.

Let me say, I have no ill will toward homosexuals. I could care less what people do in their home. Life Liberty, Pursuit. It's the Conservative way.

But when the activists among them want to shove it down my throat or ask for even an extra penny because their poor little asses feel 'persecuted', then I say F em.

I wasn't given a Bentley at birth. Where the hell is my Bentley. And try to find a penny that someone ever gave me in my life, nor did I want one, or ask for one. And that's the way it should be.
