You won't believe this one!

Prepare yourself for the "Fairness Doctrine".
Is it just paranoia that The Left seems to control the media to serve its own agenda? Do you believe that the Mainstream Media in the UK is somehow superior to ours in the USA? Forget it.

Labour Party (actually, Marxist Party) sleazeball (Leader of the House of Commons) Harriet Harman is appearing on Question Time, a weekly BBC show. This is how former Conservative Party Leader Ian Duncan Smith, voicing opposition to the governing Labour Party's policies, is treated on a "political question and answer" program. Remember, the BBC is a governmental entity paid for by taxpayer license fees.

They did not want to hear that dysfunctional families were at the root of overspending. Ooops. Then they aren't victims anymore. Somebody might want to start a "work-fare" program to get these people a job. But then they might be less dependent on the liberals and on the dole. Fewer liberal votes. This must be STOPPED!!!!

Well, there's you peek behind the curtain.

Opie, don't you just love the down low gesture by Harriet Harman when she thought the camera was in close-up on Ian Duncan Smith?

Pure naked dismissal and control of any dissent. Big Brother lives.

Every aspect of our lives in Britain is controlled in one way or another by the state. It's like East Germany during the communist era.

The scary thing is though, the majority if the population don't realise it. It's only a few enlightened souls like myself that know. When I try to talk to friends and workmates about it, they think I am nuts!

Rab C Nesbitt: It's the same here in the colonies...bring up Big Brother and eyes galze over like they've just snorted pure herion.

Nickie, yes. I thought it rather demonstrated the power of this woman. LOL. One hand wiggle and the attack dogs POUNCE.

Teresa said...

This is further evidence of how socialists or liberals, want to keep people stupid and dependent on the govt. Harriet's a little too powerful for her and others' own good-ruining lives.

Rab,

Just don't talk to your mates. You're better off telling one of the surveillance cameras that seem to be everywhere in the UK.

Larry,

You are correct. Most believe that my concern is paranoia. God help us all.

Opie,

That's the exact gesture my wife uses to get me off the couch to take out the garbage.

Teri,

What bothers me is that, at some point, they see it as their duty to shut people up.

Thanks for spreading the word, Nickie.

I'm a recovering Anglophile, the son of a British subject and old-line American. The British subject loathed the English, the American believed everything, literally everything, British was the definition of quality.

I accepted the latter view for years, even into the '70's when I owned and hated several of the objects laughingly known as British "automobiles", and when I started travelling there.

I stopped going to the UK in the 1990's, when I finally realized that all their charming pugnacity and tolerance is actually surliness and arrogance mixed with fatalism.

And even if the old class stratification disappeared, the aristocrat's sense of permanence, specialness and entitlement just leaked downward to everyone, everywhere. Levelling has made everyone a snob. How do you do that?

Maybe it's the poisonous effect of monarchism, but it bred a kind of snooty passivity in everyone I knew and met. Behind it they think their liberty is fixed. It isn't. Any population that can finance and take an adenoidal dunce like Charles seriously, is doomed.

Anonymous said...

JPT, I'm on the verge of believing nothing nowadays, but I'm aware that by doing so I am falling into the grand Socialist plan. Resist. Resist.

Barky, I'm just following your lead!

Rhod,

Class stratification has disappeared and racial balkanization has smoothly replaced it.

Harriet Harman, the former legal officer of the National Council For Civil Liberties - how far up your own arse can you get???

Hogday, I already regret my acid remarks. Just another Yank with a mouth full of opinions.

Sorry. The only thing I'll stick to was the awfulness of the Austin Marina.

HogMan,

How far up your own arse can you get??? Does the name Tony Benn mean anything to you?

Rhod has been known to actually snarl and bark at waitresses. In other ways, he's almost totally normal.

Woman, I must admit to great admiration for any frail who uses the timeless word "arg".

And "arf" goes Sandy, right Rhod?

I still think all men (and women) yearn to be free. That doesn't mean untaxed anarchy. But there is a middle ground. Minimal taxation, so that there is an incentive to work and create. I think countries on all continents can benefit from a system like this.

Your attacks on women semm to go on and on. My mission is about denouncing Violence Against Women and Girls. The white ribbon campaign is important and dear to the hearts of many. At my school there are many event to promote bring awareness to the community, and let women and girls know where they can get help if they need it. Spend your time helping the people that gave birth to you.

Harman is a harpy.
Not a woman.

Anon,

Charybdis is more like it.

Teresa said...

For this to be called an attack on women is bogus. This is not a battered women, or a woman who has been sexually abused in some way, shape , or form. She is a politician and has made herself fair game for attacks. If she can't hack it in her liberal fantasy world than she should not be a politician. She obviously lets people know who's the "boss" in this video. She seems to be able to handle herself and her lapdogs quite well. She is no weak woman and doesn't need an advocate standing up for her. I thiink Lillith needs to concentrate her efforts on women that are actually being abused in some way.

Anonymous said...

Teresa,

Thanks to that tongue-lashing, Lily can now point to you as an abuser.

I don't believe she was claiming that Harman is a victim, but I could be wrong. I'm guessing she wants a moratorium against criticism of women anywhere anytime.

Lil, how do you stand on the whole burqa issue?

Opus #6 said...

"There are many event to promote bring awareness."

Lil, you need to buckle down on your Eeeengleesh skills before you get into all the extracurriculars, if you want my advice.

the people here object to this woman's obvious partisan politics. Being a woman doesn't give her a free pass to run roughshod over people.

Only a few people know that his stage name was Sandy, and his real name was Arf. He was a seeing-eye dog for himself; he died in a sports car accident in 1955 outside Salinas.

Also, it can now be told that Punjab and Asp were long time partners, much like Fozzie and Smokey.

I'm buried in cultural detritus with your last six or seven comments...you're a genius or something worse.

I've never tried Edith Pilaf, but Aneurin Bevan is very good for your health.

Hey, everybody! CATFIGHT!!!

Rhod said...

Careful, Opie. The locution you noticed might be Asian idiomatic English. To mention it is un-American. Lilith might actually be Ririth.

Rhod, I had to go to Wikipedia to get the wording correct of my favorite Bevan tidbit...

After World War II, when the Communists took control of China. Parliament debated the merits of recognising the Communist government. Churchill, no friend of Bevan or Mao Zedong, commented that recognition would be advantageous to the United Kingdom for various reasons and added, "Just because you recognise someone does not mean you like him. We all, for example, recognise the Right Honourable Member from Ebbw Vale."

This was originally told to me by my MP, David Penhaligon in 1985.

Teresa said...

Nickie,
I am proud to be fighting for both free speech, common sense among both women and men, and standing up for the women who have been abused. As a women who has experienced the realities of being sexually taken advantage of, I have pretty good insight into who might need help in fighting against abuse. But, Harriet was merely being criticized as a politician, with regard to her hand gestures and controlling other people in the process.

"Ririth!"

ROFL

Rhod said...

Hah!

We all have a favorite Bevan tidbit, or at least Brits do, it's called six-years-for-an-MRI.

And those Welshisms? Ebbw Vale? It makes my malcolm muggeridge.

Opus #6 said...

Teresa, I like your common sense approach.

I think lil is the type who is threatened by Men, real men. I think she prefers men to be emasculated, or fitted with corsets, as DC says.

Anonymous said...

Opie,

Almost all of DC's conversations center on corsets. It's a Austin thing, I believe. (Sorry, Rhod)

Teresa said...

Opus #6,
Thanks for the compliment. I think your right about Lilith feeling threatened by real men.

Opus #6 said...

Yeah, T, do you notice she tends to jump in here the minute the men get a little rowdy? Like she is some school marm and can't bear to see anybody have fun.

Teresa said...

Opus #6,
YEP!! Seems like Lilith is trying to destroy the guys manly fun. Enjoy your humor guys, Laughter is a wonderful thing LOL

You gals are correct. Lilith reminds me a lot of my fifth wife. Trixie had a delicate and sensitive nature, but nothing brought out her combative side more than the possibility that I might be off somewhere enjoying myself.

She could ruin a mood quicker than Henry Waxman could scare a child.

I wonder what ever happened to her. The last time I saw her she was leaning out of a Greyhound Bus window in Hawaiian Gardens, flipping me off.

Opus #6 said...

Maybe she turned blogger.

I have a couple of ex's that I know to be combing my blog to dig up dirt on me.

All I can say to them is:

GOOD LUCK WITH THAT.
