It's So Much More Than Just the Second Amendment

Twice, in 1974 and again in 2011 I have stood before a judge, raised my hand and taken a solemn oath before God and man that I will defend the Constitution of the State of New York and the Constitution of the United States to the best of my ability. This is an oath that usually precedes someone slapping a firearm into your sweaty paws and teaching you how to use it.

Both in my personal affairs and in my official capacities I have carried a variety of handguns. Over the course of my career, my respect for the Image of God, in which we are made, and my concept of God's Mercy (which has been extended in abundance to me) have stayed my hand from taking a human life. Fortunately there were only a few occasions where this resolve was severely tested.

I enjoy hunting and target shooting. I have developed skills peculiar to my profession that I wish to maintain.

Now, after a foreseeable outrage in Connecticut that could have been prevented if the State of Connecticut had not engaged in a politically correct exercise regarding the custody of potentially dangerous mentally ill persons, suddenly I and so many others like me are a threat because we possess various types of firearms.

We have broken no laws and pose no threat except in the minds of the self-righteous elitists who actually hire us to protect them; yet millions of Americans are demonized for wishing to provide for themselves the same protections the elites enjoy through the contracted service of others.

If it were not so ridiculous it would be funny.

The Second Amendment is one of the most vigorously defended rights that we have. If this one goes, what will eventually become of the others?

Our system of government is unique in that our founding documents claim that our rights are inherent, bestowed upon us by our Creator and that government exists to guarantee the exercise of those rights. Once government decides that those rights are no longer inherent, that they may be exercised only at the discretion of those in power, then those rights can be dissolved at the stroke of a pen.

As a Christian, I am conflicted: I struggle with the notion of obedience to those who govern us when the government is immoral. Did early Christians rail against the Roman Emperor? No, they simply refused to worship him as a god and that was deemed sufficient cause for their execution.

We are not at that the point in America ... yet. I am reminded of Jamie Foxx's recent reference to Obama as "Lord and Savior" and while this does not amuse me, I take it for what it's worth as the comment erupted from the lips of a fool. What makes my skin crawl is that he got a standing ovation from the audience. Remember the Romans? They were forced to worship the titular head of government. The rights of a Roman citizen, as the Apostle Paul himself laid claim to, ended at the Emperor.

Do not persuade yourself that we are not in the end times. Scripture is very clear as to the universal worship of the Anti-Christ, the Beast, as god. The entire world will be deceived but for the select few who refuse his Mark.

I perceive Foxx's reference to Obama as Lord as a harbinger. The Soul Train audience ate it up and there was little reaction, or none at all, from the general public. Thirty years ago this would not have been the case. Perhaps Satan is just testing the waters; he must feel a lot more secure in presenting his agenda to America,

It deeply saddens me that men are still living who fought to free much of the world from such people as now run our own country.

Gorges - I wish it were just a matter of brave men bearing arms that would solve our nation's woes.

Our troubles are not physical but spiritual.

Kid - They too are deceived; both by ignorance of the Word of God and by their own greed. Government is now their slave owner and they gave it all up for electronic benefit cards. The pathway to Hell is paved with easy living and the social gospel of so many black churches does not provide a warning.

Why do the Elitists think we will stand by while They pick which Amendments to the Constitution are irreverent.

Odie - they've been right all along so far.

Disarming the civilians in Britain has done nothing to make us safer, far from it.

The only people who now have guns are the criminals because, who'd of thunk it, they break the law.

And the Police, for when they fancy killing someone.

I think many people realize that lines are being drawn. No comment need be made because of one of their sword rattlers. I am sure many felt the same way in the Civil War, perhaps before territories were being divided and lines drawn. Only, this time the difference is between slavery and freedom... of the very participants. I do think, should it happen, that will make the difference.

I think if they thought they really had the power we would be seeing tanks rolling and troops spreading out... 'to protect us' from some imaginary enemy or other (namely 'those terrorist conservatives', though some other cause de jour might be created). Such an order, at this point, would see... the whole thing backfire and progressivism (or whatever name Satanism goes by) driven back to wherever it crawled out from.

My guess is, even if they think they have the senior officers, they know they don't have even close to a large minority of young officers, who could and would begin the revolt. Same with police officers versus chiefs/mayors. And sheriffs are decidedly not on their side.

Gun owners only buy some time, for things to get out. Time enough, easily, I should think.

I try connecting dots. Sometimes it makes sense, sometimes it's shit.

So here are the dots of current interest:

(1) The flap and furor over a nut in CT. Yep, he killed 20 innocent kids. But if the gun grabbers are in earnest why not highlight the lives lost EVERY DAY to gun/gang violence in places like Harlem, Bedford-Stuy, Compton, Watts, South Philly, etc.? Would increased attention bring condemnation of other items such as gangs, the noncooperatiion of victims with police, the prevalence of drugs, one parent families, etc.? Do a relatively small number of white kids make better faces on an anti gun poster?

(2) The recent purchase by government organizations such as the EPA & Social Security Administration of hundreds of thousands or armor piercing bullets (aka "cop killer" bullets). These are supposed to be for target practice? When was the last time a bunch of 80 yr. old ninjas attacked a Social Security worker? Now that they've been purchased with our tax dollars, where is all the ammo stored?

(3) What happens when we go pell mell off the fiscal cliff? Am I delusional in thinking this might provide a wealth of crises for the Administration to exploit? Can you say "martial law at some point"?

(4) What kind of bloody shirt from the CT. massacre will be waved to facilitate various Executive Orders? I see the governor of New York is willing to consider items such as confiscation and forced purchases of privately owned firearms. This isn't some political buffoon speaking either. Could he be speaking whats coming our way?

I don't get much of a connection. But something is going on. Just my opinion.

The dots ARE being joined together but, Sig, I think invoking the End of Days could alienate many people with otherwise open minds.

I know we're different cultures - Americans and Britons - but we're still joined by an historical trail. I feel for you: we are you, you are us.

It seems to me that the UK has imported the very worst practices of America and Europe - the dependency, the psychoanalysis/counselling and I weep to see what we have become.

Individualism, a man free to live his own life without State interference, is now deemed 'selfish', 'capitalist', 'leech'. We continue to fight here and trust you to do the same.

God Bless you, Nickie Goomba, and Merry Christmas to all your readers x
