Clairvoyant 1960's Television

At the segment starting at 4:14 in a 1969 episode of Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In, Dan Rowan predicts the fall of the Berlin Wall.

He thought he was being funny.

Even better, John Wayne makes a very rare television appearance at 9:21.

Some surprising facts about Dan Rowan:
During World War II, Rowan served as a fighter pilot in the United States Army Air Forces. He flew Curtiss P-40 Warhawk fighters and shot down two Japanese aircraft before he was downed and seriously wounded over New Guinea. His military decorations include the Distinguished Flying Cross with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Air Medal, and the Purple Heart.

After his discharge, Rowan returned to California where he teamed up with Dick Martin and started a comedy night-club act. The team had appeared on television before but it was not until the success of a summer special in 1967 that they found fame on Laugh-In.

I actually saw it in my mind, two, maybe three years before it came down. I told my friends, I was in the Navy then. They laughed at me. Didn't bug me, I was sure I saw it. I didn't get to see it until I was out of the Navy, and had no contact with my old friends... to rub it in. A couple of beers to celebrate, alone in my cave then, and that was good enough.

Laugh-In was 1000 time better than SNL.

Jo Ann Worley used to do strip teases just in front of the camera men (but not on camera of course) for Rowan and Martin as the show was closing.

Funny stuff. Surprised they didn't show any of the stuff where the cast people would be behind those little doors in the wall and pop out with punch lines.

That wasn’t the only time. In 1968, Dan Rowan announced ‘The news of the future, 1988: President Ronald Reagan—’

The studio audience laughed so loud he couldn’t finish.
