Mook With A Badge

Stupid? Check...
Evil? Check...
Wearing a badge? Check...

Let's face it, we don't get our cops from a clone factory in Utah. Nope, our cops come from our neighborhoods, our schools, our communities. And as the standards for moral and civil conduct decline, so does the common stock from which we draw our public servants. Like this mook with a badge...
WASHINGTON D.C. - A seven-year veteran of the Metropolitan Police Department has been arrested and charged with production of child pornography after allegedly photographing a naked 15-year-old girl at a D.C. apartment, while he was on duty, and in uniform. After an investigation, Officer Marc Washington was taken into custody on Monday, shortly after allegations surfaced.

According to charging documents, Washington allegedly took photos of a 15-year-old girl while conducting an investigation into a missing persons report. He allegedly went over to the girl's house in Southeast Washington on Sunday night. Authorities say the girl had previously been reported missing and Washington claimed he needed pictures of her injuries despite the fact the girl said she had not been injured. Washington allegedly coerced her into stripping down naked, claiming he needed photos for identification purposes and that it was procedure.

Lowering standards to allow for minorities is the biggest culprit here. Though I suspect you have a point as well.

You can tell them, but if they don't want to hear, you get what you got.

Doom - I agree, but there is nothing in the story to indicate that his test scores or prior history was waived in order to hire him. I really wish that a comprehensive study was done to show how minority hiring quotas have affected the professionalism of our civil service employees.

I guess some just slip by. A pedophile cop in jail just might not enjoy himself.

Sig,

"...but there is nothing in the story to indicate that his test scores or prior history was waived in order to hire him."

Hehehehe You crack me up! Do you realize how many elephants in the room this "news" source outright ignores, or simply rewrites? Hell, they are blaming the "knock-out game" on... the victims... because they are Jewish, and, you know, deserve it. Don't look for anything serious from the news. I doubt if they would have even "thought" to research that point, and certainly wouldn't have printed it even if every source they had was screaming it at them.

Maybe you SHOULD hire them from a clone factory in Utah…

Long ago in a far away galaxy they tried that and it worked out just fine.

Sig, Let me ask your opinion. There have been a number of stories of police firing a multitude of bullets in situations where most people would say it wasn't warranted. Do you have a 10 word or less opinion? Feel free to as many words as You want, I just didn't want to task you.

New York has had a few stories and misc other places have had stories of trigger happy policing - as Marvin Gaye would say.

This guy? yea sure. The police are a big organization, the military same, IBM, other big names with worldwide enterprises are same. Some percentage of people are WHACKED and some number are going to be found in any environment.

Hope this guy gets put away because he'll only get worse.

Sig, I remember not that long ago a police representative talking about how he had a training student body of 7 individuals who in total would not score 100 on an IQ test. He went to his boss and told the tale and was told, Pick One. One of these individuals must/will be hired.

He better be careful to avoid dropping the soap in the shower.

I agree with Doom.

While I was living in New London, CT. there was a guy who sued the PD there because he wasn't hired. The reason given was his test scores were too high. Maybe you'll remember that one; it was a staple of Leno's comedy for a while. The case dragged on until he was too old to be hired, after that I believe he dropped it.

The point I'm trying to make is some desk jockeys feel they have to hire/promote mediocrities, this trait is found all over. So your contention that the cops are drawn from our pool of average citizens is too true. Sometimes they're a bit TOO average.

Don't even get me started on the town clowns here in my part of Texas. These guys wouldn't even answer a 911 call the wife placed when she spotted some guy trying to open our front door. But at least it changed her mind on having firearms in the house.

Kid - I have noticed a lot of what I would call undisciplined fire. I was taught to fire two or three times, check the target, then fire again if needed. I have been in free fire situations where I thought that the guys were using adrenaline and not proper discretion.

I don't know why departments are not addressing this. The more rounds you fire that miss the intended target, the more likely that you will hit someone else. This is not a good thing.

Years ago many of the cops I worked with had military training and fire disciple was a big part of it. The kids nowadays ... hard to say. Lack of self discipline is society wide and certainly not just limited to law enforcement.

Subvet - we had a kid who sued us to get on. He was born with only one hand but would not accept the fact that he could not do the job just as well as a two-handed person.

Had another kid who was under indictment for rape and would not accept the fact that we would not hire until the case was adjudicated.

People are idiots.
