Beating Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s - The Italian Way

Corriere Della Sera covers a promising new medical breakthrough.
Scientists reveal mechanism that poisons cells to provoke diseases"
ROME – Think of a skip overflowing with rubbish. The cleansing department is on strike and the skip never gets emptied. It won’t be long before the contents begin to poison the air with unpleasant smells, pose public health problems and exasperate residents. Something very similar happens in all the cells in our bodies when they are unable to break down the toxins their own activities generate. Over time, the waste accumulates, triggering a chain of events that can bring on very serious conditions, like Alzheimer’s disease, Huntington’s chorea, Parkinson’s disease and a swath of accumulation syndromes, such as mucopolysaccharidosis, glycogenosis and others, on the long list of rare genetic diseases. Loss of mental capacity is so much more devastating than loss of physical ability. It would be great if people could hold onto their faculties while they are still alive. Old folks can be a kick. As long as they remember who you are.

I must admit that a diminished mental capacity is fear #1.

Didn't want to get into it, Goombah, but this post is good news. I've been diagnosed with Parkinson's - some questions remain - and it sucks. My oldest, in SF mode said "Just shake it off, Dad!" Kids. Gotta love 'em.

Rhod, I was thinking about your comment today as I drove my kids around in the car. I am sorry to hear this. You have an exceptional mind. I only hope that the extra brain cells you are sporting will give you a long way to go before you catch up (down) to the rest of us.

As far as what I can offer to help, here is my best cyber ((((hug)))).

Alzheimer's is a devasting disease so this is very good news. I just finished reading a book by Pam McDonald called The APO E Gene Diet. She addresses Alzheimer's, heart disease, and other important diseases with a clear integrative medical solution. McDonald talks about diseases that cannot only be prevented but that we are now seeing evidence of disease reversal. There is lots of hope!
