Obama Administration plans Cheney Witch Hunt as Diversion from Disasterous Economic Moves

The TimesOnline (UK) reports that Dick Cheney ordered that a secret CIA Counter-Terrorism program remain secret.
"Critics of the agency, however, want it to be more forthcoming about its secret programmes."
The CIA withheld information about a secret counter-terrorism programme for eight years on the orders of former Vice President Dick Cheney, according to a report in The New York Times.

The agency's director Leon Panetta terminated the programme after learning about it last month, the newspaper reports The following day he called an emergency meeting with the House and Senate Intelligence committees to brief them.

Previous directors of the agency had not informed Congress of the programme because the intelligence-gathering effort had not developed to the point that they believed merited a congressional briefing, a former intelligence official and another government official told The New York Times.

Mr Cheney played a central role in overseeing the Bush administration's surveillance programme and was a key advocate of using controversial interrogation methods such as waterboarding on terrorism suspects.

The surveillance programme was the subject of an inspectors general report last week which noted that Mr Cheney's chief of staff, David Addington, personally decided who in former President George Bush's inner circle could know about the secret programme; a degree of secrecy that the report concluded had hurt the effectiveness of the counter-terrorism surveillance effort.

An effort to reach Mr Cheney was unsuccessful.

Asked about the report in the New York Times, CIA spokesman Paul Gimigliano told Reuters said it was not the agency's practice to discuss classified briefings. (More...)

Why even have a CIA. Let's just disband the whole thing. Sell the documents on EBay to the highest bidder. Open our borders. And ask our enemies what they want us to do. Surely that will win us friends around the world and all our problems will be over.

Sounds like our Labour government again, Opie.

Dang nabbit, Spidie! What is WRONG with this world!

Exactly. Obama ship is taking on water so now the magic act comes out. He'll be distracting us with one hand, but keep your eye on the other.

Mess with The Cheney at your peril!

Barky,

Remember, The US and the UK are always to blame for unfairness anywhere in the world.

Right guy,

Watch Obama constantly. He's patting you on the back with one hand, and selling grandma's silverware with the other.

He's a flim-flam man.

The only problem with the appropriately-named "Magic Show" is that no one can afford to buy a ticket right now. Thus, it may not work.

I love the Demos, though. I mean really ... "That big bad Cheney (who looks better every day to ordinary folks) was trying to0 hard against those misunderstood jihadis." Are you kidding me?

I hope the Demos try this. It highlights/reminds people about their looniness on national security while their economic policies are parading naked down Main for all to see. Bring it on.

Pilgrim,

I can think of a few eggs that need cracking.

Pup,

I depended on Cheney to make grown-up decisions. Nothing I'm hearing makes me think he did anything but that.

Thanks for taking time from the golf course to set the record straight. As usual, you are 100% correct.

How do the flunkies in the MSM sleep at night? Are there a set of huevos amongst the print and TV rabble? Will anyone say "That's it. That's enough!"?

The fight continues, my brother. We still got the white hats.

Yeah...like that's going to convince consumers to buy things and employers to hire people and Wall Street to gobble up stocks.

I think Obugger picked up some juju when he was over in Ghana yesterday.

Dave,

Just raise taxes on potential employers. That should solve everything.

Dick Cheney alot of people hate this guy like even I do. He single handedly made America go to war somewhere which wasn't even remotely connected with the Al Qaeda & single handedly sunk the world's economy by blowing most resources on war.

Cheney is really worried that a US military withdrawal from Iraq on the timetable his administration negotiated with the Iraqi parliament might lead to further instability of a sort that would keep the US oil majors from getting at Iraqi petroleum in a big way.

His invocation of the 'sacrifices' made by other people's children on the basis of his hateful manipulations is the ultimate desecration. He is a war criminal.

Anonylips, I'd give a lot more credence to your words if you had the courage to stand behind them. All I see here is you, quivering behind your computer screen.

Spew your hate at Cheney. He is man enough to take it, and give better than he gets. But watch out. He, and the rest of us, have long memories. The sell-out of America will not be forgotten any time soon. Cheney kept us and our kids safe for 8 years. Your O-buddy is so busy gutting America that he doesn't care that the vultures are circling her corpse.

Opie,

You said it beautifully. I wish the American public had your memory.

The first goal of any well-conceived indoctrination program is to direct attention elsewhere, away from effective power, its roots, and the disguises it assumes.

Misdirection is much easier to manage when you control the state-media, which the Obama Administration does.

Allowing the country to stop, take a breath and see that the Democrats have wasted TRILLIONS of dollars in the first few months of the Obama Administration would be disastrous.

Destroy Cheney? It makes perfect sense in this context.

I'm looking for the Michael Jackson corpse to be kidnapped. That'll give Obie 6 months of cover.

Cheney and Bush kept us safe for 8 years. These liberal pansies just want to think they can make nice in the world and everyone will hold hands, sing Kum-Bay-Yah, and everything will be okie dokie. NOT TRUE, only in their childish delusional minds.
Yes Nickie, You are right. Cheney made the adult decisions needed to keep America safe from terrorists. I will continue to defend an honorable man(Cheney), who took his oath of office seriously, to keep this country safe.

We need to expose the Obama method of distraction to sidetrack Americans from the important issues, keep people from finding out the truth abou these cockamamie Bills.

If today's Libs had their way. Harry Truman would have been hanged.

Nickie,
You are right. Although, I have a Lib neighbor and he likes Truman and hates both Bush and Republicans. I really can't really understand him. I think MSNBC has warped the wirings in his brain- That probably goes for all the Libs who watch MSNBC.

The media have certainly changed all the definitions. All of life now is expected to look like a TV show.

The BHO administration will be pulling out all the stops to distract Americans from what a failure this administration is.

The smokescreen is a time-tested political technique. With the MSM's assistance, it is frighteningly effective.
