Pausing today to remember ...

It's as apppropriate as ever to do so. The free do not have to outnumber the tyrants. But they do have to be stronger and remain vigilant.

In honor of Pearl Harbor Day, the report of my meeting with Goomba will be up tomorrow.

See you then.

Despite what some folks think...I was not there on Dec 7th, 1941. I wasn't even born yet.

Thanks for the reminder, until this moment I'd not seen even a mention of this day's significance historically, not on any other blogs or anywhere else.

Thanks, all. The lack of mention shows us all the more reason to remember. As our WWII generation leaves us, we must double down on our efforts to remember.

I visited the Arizona on R & R in early '67. There were about a dozen older Japanese men on the monument, very somber and quiet. I assume they were vets, and they too are probably gone now.

Except for Bushido and the sanctioned conduct of their armies in Asia and the Phillipines, you have to believe that somewhere, inside, they mourned for the crew of the Arizona too.

Too bad you have to get old before you get wise.

Amen, DC. And on the 10th a few of us over here remember the battleships HMS Prince of Wales and HMS Repulse, taken down by the same carrier battle group. Vigilance, vigilance.
