Tomorrow is a big day

On Sunday, January 23rd 2011, I will be giving my first sermon at the 8:00am, 9:15am and 10:30am services. Please give a thought and if possible, a prayer. If this goes well - who knows? - I may do it again. Then, like an escaped free-range chicken, I may never look back.

God bless you all.

I'd wish you luck but you won't need it.

Proud of you, and praying for you. Let me know where the Rev. Goomba show is going to be in the future. I want to get there and say "hello" to the minister on the way out.

you'll be blessed, sir. remember what they taught us in grad school for next time: for each minute of speaking, one hour of prep. but, with your erudition and extemporaneous skill-set, you'll crush walking in cold!

Fire and brimstone is the key to an effective sermon. Imagine that you are looking over the pulpit at your blogging friends (sinners all) when you're crying repentance.

Don't go so far as to imagine Obama, Rahm, Janet Napolitano, etc. there in the throng. You might leap from the pulpit in righteous indignation and start strangling one of them - only to find it was old Mrs. Jones who wanted to sit up close because she's hard of hearing...

Good luck,

Sinners in the hands of an angry Nickie Goomba. This has promise. I would love to be there. Renaissance Men deliver the best sermons.

I'm here under my secret name ... I saw this post on my sidebar there.

You're going to do great. Throw some of that famous "Nicky Wit" in there, and they'll want you back every Sunday.

Correction, it will only be your first sermon there; for quite some time you have been sharing your sermons here to us sinners.

...so how was the play, Mrs. Lincoln?

You need to issue an after-action debrief for your throng of readers, Nickie G!

I'm a little late to wish you good luck for today's sermon, but I'm sure everything went well. Best wishes and God's blessings to you in the future.

What an amazing day. My son drove in to surprise me. I went all verklempt.

I preached on Humility. Kinda like Obama preaching on patriotism.

It went wonderfully. I had 'em rolling in the aisles. And then I had 'em sniffling and fighting back tears. One might have thought that some higher power was gently guiding me.

Thank you all for your encouraging words. This call to ordination seemed, at the best, inconvenient, but today's developments clarify that call.

In Ephesians you'll find... "Glory to God whose power, working in us, can do infinitely more than we can ask or Imagine." Those words fill me with energy, hope and, yes... humility.

Amen Nickie, humility takes us places with God and man.
