Yeah, That's The Ticket...

If you haven't already noticed, establishment liberals and their media toadies are in Phase III of their opportunistic explanations of the Arizona murders by Jared Loughner. Phase I was to blame the murders on the supposed wicked rhetoric of right-wing public figures. That didn’t work on the American public, not that it didn’t provide release for journalist whores at the New York Times. Hypocrites and liars Paul Krugman and Frank Rich exhausted themselves in their manly hatred of a single conservative female, Sarah Palin, and their horror at conservative free speech.

The fetching Andrea Mitchell burnt up the TV screen and stretched her face-lift with similar innuendo, and David Gregory, at his ratings toilet “Meet The Press” advanced his theory that “anti-goverment rage” was responsible for the murders. Since viewership for MTP in 2010 was smaller than the population of Brooklyn, the only folks who heard him were his guests and long-in-the-tooth urban liberals - hardly a choir that needs convincing. Do these ciphers have a clue about their irrelevance?

After Obama threw the leftist media under the bus at his “memorial” speech to the prissy community organizers of Together We Thrive, the party line switched to Phase II. Obama avoided the necromancy of the Wellstone festival, and there was no Tom Harkin with his eyes rolled back in his head, keening like a Palestinian hag after 911, to incite the mob. So the media politburo took up the soft Obama line that “incivility” didn’t trigger Loughner, but incivility in political language is bad in itself. So the subtext is that incivility is responsible for the tragedy. But it's an idelogical dead end for the left, because it includes them.

From here, there was a brief pause at Phase II (b), where mental health and the liberties of the obvious sociopath was the media party line. This hackery was too complicated for the short attention spans of media pundits, and it also drags in dense civil rights legalitities and the ACLU, all of which would focus the tragedy on liberalism and its fetishes. It was a non-starter. Too dangerous.

Developing now is Phase III. The issue now is how to secure the safety of public officials. The process to Phase III was simple and simple-minded. Having failed to identify the cause of the Arizona murders to their political advantage, liberals and their media water-carriers will simply allow the assumption of heightened danger to the political class to settle as hard fact. Then they can kick around the folly of gun laws and ammunition restrictions. When that fails, look for Phase IV. It won’t be long.

After the drunken bash with the bills coming due (like the frat that stayed at the hotel on weekender), the Left wants us to all tone down and be buds. No harsh words ... like "they bring a knife, we bring a gun" ... or calling political opponents "enemies" ... or talking about "making us pay," etc.., etc.. But that was just Obama.

No, the bills are due from the 111th and a a long run of irresponsibility all around.

I hear what you're saying, Rhod, but these efforts by the Left to tamp down speech (this is a central tactic of theirs over time) are like pushing a rope uphill any more ... for a lot of the reasons you cite ... for example, that MTP is so irrelevant. Too many people have the script and have seen the act, as well.

There are many more ways to disseminate the truth these days. And it still packs a wallop. Wait, Rhod, I didn't mean to suggest to go punch some Demo in the nose.

DC, I don't think we even know the scale of their irrelevance. When MTP pulls in such a small audience, the next question is what does that audience consist of?
Meet The Press, by its very name, is from a bygone era, when guys like Eric Severeid were around. The Press is a bad joke now.

"Wallop" is incitement, DC.

Winston Churchill spent World War II traveling without escort or at most with one bodyguard.

Adolph Hitler traveled with a battalion of picked troops (Leibstandarte SS Adolph Hitler) and a separate, more trusted SS Bodyguard who managed the inner ring of security.

Who do you think felt more safe?

DC -- does wallup=whack?

LL, the lament for the shootings has always been chiefly about lese majesty, that somehow public service beatifies the public servant.

Here in CT, there were moments of silence at the local and state levels to revere Giffords. Even Obama spoke of Charlotte Green as if being deprived of her political ambitions as worse than being deprived of her life.

It's about them first and always.

Gregory is that big, and Andrea wants him to be bigger.

Odie, you noticed that.

She's describing her husband, Crazy Al Greenspan. Al puts the span in Greenspan. He's an expert on inflation and interest.

Gregory doesn't and isn't.

I believe they will get nowhere with this and will lose a senate seat. Under AZ. Law, she can fill the seat as she chooses and could tip the balance to a very appealing 48-48-2. Very astute blog sir. Lead on>>

Safety of politicians, eh? Make them accountable! Since elections seem to be working, the only thing they have to fear are the nuts and bolts their policies and what they have made of society produce. Revolutions always eat their own. And, usually, it couldn't happen to a nicer bunch. I think of them as the Friends of Manson Society. Though you could add/exchange Mao, Pol Pot, Hitler, Stalin, or any other despot for Manson... Manson just embodies their more recent roots here in America.

Rhod, you ruined it when you wrote the piece. The two photos were great by themselves.

Phase IV involves vampires and Jacob Javits.

Did somebody say "whack"?

Rhod said...

Jacob Javits had a great center. I spent an afternoon there in the winter of 1964.

Odie, Goomba is working on a large-print version of the blog. Stand by.
