FINALLY!

It took awhile but hopefully  this issue is finally getting more traction.
During a Senate hearing on Democrat-sponsored legislation aimed to prohibit racial profiling by law enforcement officers, an attorney who served in the Department of Justice said the underlying problem of high rates of criminal behavior and out-of-wedlock births in the black community should be a part of the discussion.

Roger Clegg, who served in the DOJ’s civil rights division in the Reagan and George H.W. Bush administrations, was a witness at a Senate hearing on Tuesday and made the remarks in his opening statement.

"I think we have to recognize that it’s going to be tempting for the police and individuals to profile so long as a disproportionate amount of street crime is committed by African Americans and there will be a disproportionate amount of street crime is committed by African Americans for so long as more than seven out of ten African Americans are being born out of wedlock,” Clegg said.

“...that is the elephant in the room, and it has to be addressed,” Clegg said.
Currently 72% of all black births are out-of-wedlock. Comedian Bill Cosby has also commented on this.

It is refreshing to see someone face reality and who is willing to speak the truth.
(72% of black births are out-of-wedlock. That is astounding.)

Urhm, I think the crime rate for blacks has always been disproportionately high, even when most black children were born into families (pre-50's, and in the North too, so don't even go there with that Southern stuff, actually, probably worse in the North where they were already being "allowed" whatever, to a greater degree). Still, turning the Titanic on a dime just isn't going to happen. It almost looks like they are almost beginning to hedge toward something closer to the truth though... tentatively.

You are not allowed to speak of such things. It's racist. Better that yet another generation of blacks reject education and embrace self-destruction.

Let's not forget that We Taxpayers pay for and the Government administers child abuse by paying these women to pop kids out like pieces of toast into zero-opportunity, crime and drug infested environments and then don't take care of them. Women I know have testified to me what goes on in these neighborhoods. They live there and help take care of these kids.

Any creative lawyers out there? There should be some way to prove the government complicit in child abuse and sue them out of this practice.

Conservative Lady - it's the 800 pound gorilla in the elevator. I worked poor black sections for over a decade - I could see the violence and lawless growing and warned civic leaders what was going to happen. As commander of our department's Planning Division I remember telling a 1997 Syracuse University forum that the young children in the ghetto today would be "twice the children of hell" that we were seeing at the time. Of course no one ever listens to the cops.

Doom - the causations of crime have been fairly well researched and most have nothing to do with what we call "stabiliztion" needs such as employment, education, housing substance abuse, etc. The mental processes that contribute to crime (criminogenic) involve a person's attitude towards society, himself and others. Alienation felt by blacks contributes a lot to this and is only worsened by lack of self discipline trhat ordinarily would be imposed by a strong family. Prior to LBJ's War on Poverty and the ensuing plethora of social programs, the incidence of divorce among blacks was actually lower than whites. Illegitimacy - not so sure.

Opus - that is a crime for which our nation will pay dearly.
