Pray For Our Armed Forces

My grandfather (WWI), father (WWII)  and brother (Vietnam) all served in combat in the Navy. The Navy Hymn never fails to bring tears to my eyes.

We honor all who have served and those whose lives are yet in peril.
Eternal Father, return our loved ones to us safely.

Forgive me, but Memorial Day is to remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice and those who served and no longer with us. Never forget!

Veterans Day is to honor those living who served.

Armed Forces Day ( just past) is to honor those currently serving.

We don't "memorialize" those still alive.

There's also Military Spouse Day, the Friday before Mother's Day. (Guess who that's for).

And lastly, April is the month of the military child. Those are the ones who get dragged around from post to post, they never signed up for it, they also serve who stand and wait.

My husband served 30+ years in the Army. There were good times and bad times, happy times and sad times and 19 moves. But we signed up for it. And to a certain extent, we knew what we were getting into. It's the kids who are the real troopers!

Anam - Thanks and no need to forgive, I understand. My concern (and focus)is kinda hopelessly on the living right now as my daughter is on her second deployment, stationed at BAF.

And please thank your husband for his service for me!

I know what you mean. Our pregnant daughter in Germany is about to bid farewell to her husband as he deploys for his third tour. Since childbirth is not an emergency, he won't come home until the unit rotates out. And because of the drawdown, there is no American hospital nearby. I will go over about two weeks before the due date and stay as long as she needs me. This is their first child.

Anam - our prayers for your daughter and the safe return of your SIL. Is this your first grandchild?
