Quite a day ahead

Today we'll witness victory or defeat. Grassroots Conservatism will have won an historic victory, or we will have witnessed the death of our nation at the hands of of pure evil.

Religious or not, pray today. Pray for your country. Pray for your parents and neighbors. Pray for your children. Get on your knees and pray that the Traitors feel the rope tightening around their necks.

This, fellow patriots, will be a day we will never forget.

I don't pray often, but I just had to just now.

Nickie, I feel your pain. I will be praying especially hard today. But, we must not give up the fight against this evil tyrannical administration. We can win the battles in the next election cycles and eventually win the war. Washington and his troops had setbacks and we may or may not be having a setback now. It is our obligation as citizens to defend our country and come back swinging. God Bless America!!

I fully expect the Obama/Reid/Pelosi Trio have the votes necessary to pass this bill. But I also think this is not the end of the struggle. We have the opportunity - if we get out and vote in November in significant numbers. to dramatically alter the make-up of Congress. I suspect we will accomplish that goal handily. Once that occurs, we need to require that the 112th Congress repeal this law immediately! It's clear to me that doing so has to be our highest priority.

I'll be praying. Have been for days. Will continue to do so.

Without a doubt.

And this will be a 4 years we will not forget and pay heavily for in the future, and I'm talking about the intangibles related to foreign policy - the lack of it - that I just posted about as well as the absurd spending on worthless endevors.

Anyway, Amen.

Amen I have done so

I haven't commented on this subject here at Nickie's. This will almost certainly be my last word here, because I'm not up to the fight anymore. The details of each day are difficult enough, and I have a contrarian view - sort of.

Augustine's "City of God" was written in the context of a fallen civilization - Rome. In response to the surviving Romans' accusation that the end of Rome was to be blamed on Christianity, Augustine simply replied that the end of Rome "began" when the Romans lost interest in their own dynamic gods, and in the energy and ambitions that made Rome great - even if it was not great in its scope (they were cultural thieves) but great in its scale.

Something like that is happening now, and we're like the Roman survivors. The polls do not reveal that Obama is wildly unpopular or that Health Care Reform, even in its bloated and liberty-dissolving form is extravagantly unpopular either.

The people I see every day among the shop-working constituency in CT are heirs to the old New Deal mentality that a velvet tyranny is preferable to harsh freedom. I think they're typical of the mass of men and women who think that prosperity and liberty are self-generating; they're at the tail end of a lot of effort and sacrifice, but mankind isn't known for gratitude, consistency, integrity or, even, insight. As Orian Fallaci said of the Russians, pre-1989, "how bad can you feel for a people who've tolerated totalitarianism for 75 years?"

Liberalism in its present form didn't happen suddenly, it metastasized over the years, and filled the empty spaces in the public mind because most of public's minds are preoccupied with comfort and ease, and not the metaphysical aspects of freedom itself. The soft culture of liberalism is made possible because of the hard culture of conservatism. This is simply true, but the soft culture will turn to barbarism without the provisions of hard culture. Just plan to protect yourself when that happens.

The tragedy for our side is that we are the resistance movement, the driven, adventurous members of a tribe whose other members are horrified by the prospects of drive and adventure. That's just the way it is.

So, what seems to be happening is that the takers will win until there's nothing left to take, and then all bets are off. It's slight comfort, but toleration of a morally repulsive age is sometimes the only choice for the enlightened man and woman. You fight by keeping the light of truth and liberty alive even in darkness.

Good luck to everyone here. I would trust you anywhere.

Rhod, I agree completely.

From Bondage to Spiritual Faith
From Spiritual Faith to Great Courage
From Great Courage to Liberty
From Liberty to Abundance
From Abundance to Complacency
From Complacency to Apathy
From Apathy to Dependency
From Dependency back to Bondage

The one concept the liberals can never seem to get is that once life becomes enslavement for the productive members of society, those people leave, and without the fruits of those labors available to steal anymore the whole thing falls apart.

But you make some beautiful points. Communism doesn't happen in a day. I'd say it started with FDR and will end with the morons gaining control! Isn't that a hoot.

Every democrat has pounded on the foundation of this country starting with LBJ. each successive major takeover by the Dems results in more Fascism and Communism being implemented.

It's honestly to the point of disbelief. It's beyond words. Major sections of the population are cheering on their own enslavement.

And yes, be ready to protect yourselves from the thieves at first, then the barbarian liberals as soon as they realize what they've implemented. They'll be herding down the streets looking for blood, screaming It's BUSH's FAULT !"

TK:

Epochs, periods, ages, eventually end up with titles and overviews.
This one will, I think, be ultimately known as the time when the Baby Boomers raped their own children; their successors in order to perpetuate their ease and fulfill their narcissism. That's the principle evil in all this.

The final chumps in all this are the Millenials, who voted for Obama in sizeable numbers. They're young, healthy, and will be taxed heavily to feed the gigantic maw of a mid-20th century collectivist ideology. They deserve it; I don't give a sh** about them.

They'll end up like European young, living in small apartments, many of them structurally unemployed or protected by law in dead-end jobs. Every generation chooses its own poison. In this case, their elders poisoned them in the cradle.

Rhod said...

...and they liked the poison.

Rhod, Yes, I tlak to them all the time and could care less about them. Better people to care about out there.

I was talking to one the other day, Young kid looking for a free ride through college. I suggested he join the Air Force as that's probably the easiest path in the service. He looked at me like I was a bug. I knew he would but wanted to plant that seed for later pondering as he finds himself 60 years old and still a waiter.

Rhod, thanks for the insight. My best and prayers to you and yours. I would go to any fight, any where, with you.

Kid, that "bug" comment was so glorious, I thought you were Rhod. That's tall cotton, my man.

Great comments.

A lot of what you and Rhod eloquently speak of are moral issues. Courage is a moral virtue. When a culture slays its conscience is loses the ability to think ... to respect traditions and laws ... and ultimately, to fight.

Thank you, DC. Semper Fi.

Like I said, this fight is decades old - it is a culture war as much as it is a political war. This battle may or may not be the final gasp as we continue our descent into bondage. But given the current entitlement mindset of so many millions of Americans and the double whammy of the politically correct/NEA corrupted educational process churning out millions more slaves, I do not think there is much to be optimistic about.

As Ben Franklin said, "A Republic, if you can keep it."

Our new anthem: "I love my Republic but, oh, you welfare state."

Kid said...

Thanks DC, You also sum it up very well. There's a lot of courage missing out there.

And I see less virtue every day. I'd even settle for a little uncommon courtesy.
