Yet another one for the Gipper

Mark, over at Wannabe Anglican shared this personal story. It is to-the-point, truthful and touching, just as a story ought to be told by a Texas Conservative.

A Boy Named Reagan

The moment I realized how much I missed Ronald Reagan came at Denton Bible Church shortly after his death. The morning service had just ended when I noticed a Russian teenage boy I knew. A family or two at Denton Bible had adopted Russian children, and they added a lot to the life of our church.

The boy’s name was Reagan.

We were chatting, and loving to teach as I do, I said with a smile, “Let me tell you about who you are named after.” And I told him of Ronald Reagan and of how helped wear down the old Soviet Union. And because of that, Russia and the United States were now on good terms . . . and that was a big reason he got adopted and was with us.

The thing is, I had a lot of trouble getting all that out. I broke down crying before him before I could finish. The boy was a great kid and, with a calm smile, was patient with me.

And, to be honest, I am crying now as I type this.

That boy named Reagan, and us all, owe Ronald Reagan so much.

And I miss him.

Happy 100th birthday, Mr. President. And thank you.

May God bless Ronald Reagan like he blessed us.

Wetz... That man made the tyrants back down, and the bullies of the world have never forgiven him.

My grandfather voted all his life for Democrats except for Ronald Reagan. During one of Reagan's 1980 campaign speeches on TV, my gramps blurted out "Finally, someone is talking to ME"

We were all shocked. I now realize that God doesn't make many Ronald Reagans.

Zio... Obama should be horse-whipped for even speaking Reagan's name.

A toast to Ronald Reagan, Founder of the Crips and Bloods. America's first Crack Dealer. Founder of al-Qaeda, he called them "freedom fighters". The guy that started his campaign in Philadelphia, Mississippi to talk about "States Rights" the thing that MLK and three dead Civil Rights workers were fighting against. BTW, they DIED in Philadelphia ,Mississippi. ronnie also said that whites should descriminate against blacks if they want to move into their neighborhood. The Klan supported him. He mined the harbors in South America. Dope was brought to black America by Iran/Contra. He distroyed the economy. Didn't lift a finget for AIDS until his buddy Rock got it. Then he still didn't do anything.Supported Apartheid.

Ronnie was a racist , punk bigot. Even Dr. King didn't trust him.

What a dipshit. Kid's rant makes me happy that I took the time to learn punctuation.

kid... Just a suggestion: Move out of your grandmother's basement. There's got to be some young gal somewhere eager to be courted by a smooth sweet-talkin' gent. Remember to talk slowly and succinctly. Alas, the virtual spittle corona surrounding your rantette reveals you as an inconsiderate and somewhat sloppy conversationalist.

On second thought, stay in your grandmother's basement. Church's chicken will get you through times with no women better than women will get you through times of no Church's chicken.

BTW... Who gave you that shitty haircut? You resemble a fetid coconut with a jaunty goiter.

Anon... I thought I recognized that practiced cadence. I am honored that our first "special" president has been stopping by the site. Why is he calling himself "kid"?

Unc... you couldn't have stopped by at a better time. What's your take on "kid"?

That's a touching story, Nickie. A new statue of Reagan will be unveiled in Grosvenor Square, appropriately enough on the 4th July. It's a well-deserved honour.
Here's a link to the press article.

kid is what you get when white liberals encourage and legitimize black racism. The truly sad fact is that kid might have amounted to something other than an obedient slave on the liberal plantation.

I miss him, too, and I know some folks around here who have named their children Reagan, too.

Let's see. . . Reagan raised taxes several times (after that initial tax cut he campaigned on, and which did little to slow unemployment), ran up the biggest deficit the US had seen to that date, gave amnesty to 3 million illegal aliens, bailed out social security, and grew the federal government by creating the the Dept. of Veterans Affairs.

Then there's the weapons his cronies sent to Iran, funding the muslims that later became the Taliban, liberalizing California's abortion laws as governor. . . .

Why do you guys like him so much? His image I guess, because there's not much real conservative meat there.

Hey, I didn't make this stuff up, it's in the public record.
