Are We There Yet?

From Reuters:

Venezuela marches continue, Chavez shuffles cabinet

CARACAS (Reuters) - Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez warned on Wednesday that he may quicken his drive to build a socialist state, as he shuffled his cabinet amid opposition demonstrations sparked by closure of a television station.

The leftist leader is already facing a tough start to 2010 with growing complaints over shortages of electricity and water and a sharp currency devaluation that could harm the chances of his supporters in congressional elections in September.

In a sign he may be preparing for a combative year, Chavez has responded to these challenges by designating a vice president known for radical views and pushing the opposition station RCTV off subscription TV networks.

The move against RCTV has sparked opposition protests this week during which two students have been killed.

"If you're going to head down the path of destabilization, I'm warning you it will yield the opposite result of what you're seeking -- that we may decide to speed up the changes," Chavez, who recently declared himself a Marxist, said in televised
comments.

It is apparently axiomatic in socialist dictatorships that whenever the citizenry decides that enough is enough, the Thug-In-Chief doubles down and hastens the journey to national disintegration. Calling citizen dissatisfaction and alarm "destabilization," Chavez has authorized the use of deadly physical force to deal with protests and is shutting down opposition news outlets who criticize his policies.

Chavez has nationalized large swathes of the economy in recent years, including the telecommunications and the electricity sector -- which now faces deepening problems.

This month he took over a hyper-market chain run by a French retailer after accusing the company of price gouging.

Opposition and pro-Chavez students held rival but small rallies on Wednesday, gathering on campus and in public squares, and prepared a wave of marches in the coming days.

Local media reported minor disturbances between security forces and protesters in the cities of Maracaibo and Puerto la Cruz.

We have seen the same tactics in the Tea Party demonstrations that have been conveniently ignored and misreported in the Obama loyalist MSM and the demonization of Fox News.

The SOTU speech was another example of Chavez-like tactics as Obama characterized dissent as obstructionism to his socialist ideals. Then the brain dead Republicans invite President Chavez-Clone-In-Chief Obama to their caucus love fest so they can be excoriated again in public.
It is a miracle that we aren't there yet.

I've written this before and I will write it again, the Republicans are a part of the problem. They are not the solution.

Washington (Reuters) - US President Barack Obama warned on Wednesday that he may quicken his drive to build a socialist state, as he shuffled his cabinet amid opposition demonstrations sparked by closure of a television station.

We must take care to support real conservatives for primaries and elections in 2010. Get your hands into politics. If you don't, you are part of the problem.

Don't give to the party. Give to the candidate.

Opus - Our Republican County Chairman came out last week and said pretty much the same thing. After so many years fo being completely disgusted I am tempted to enter the local fray. Sometimes I am afraid this state is just too far gone and NYC is like a millstone draped around our necks.

We knew it had to come to this, didn't we?

We're not there yet, thank God, and hopefully we will never be.

Venezuela was dominated by a moneyed Oligarchy who cared nothing for the poor, even stealing from them and keeping them shut out of the system. Typical in Latin America.

We are not there. I wish the liberals who blather on about "class struggles," etc would read some history or visit some of these places.

You can start with nothing here and become successful. That is a rarity in this world.

There doesn't seem to be much difference between Chavez and Obama. They both use the same dasterdly, fascist techniques. We must fight against the radical Obama and the rest of the radicals in his administration before they shred our Constitution.

Heard today on a news spot on the radio, Scott Brown said (in his own words) the republican party CAN NOT expect him to VOTE Party Line; he is fiscally conservative-but socially moderate. I guess Savage and Beck were right all along.
Curses-foiled again!!!!

Chavez lent strong support to US President Barack Hussein Obama in his election in 2008.

I can see why.

TSWS - Scott Brown was quoted today as syaing that while he does not support the use of tax dollars for abortions, he does support a woman's decision to murder her child if she wants.

Sig94,
That was the only issue I was really disappointed with Brown about. But, Abortion or murdering an innocent baby is a biggie. Brown is definitely a RINO and I hope he stays on our side with respect to health care.

Today saw Babs Wha Wha interview with Scott Brown. When asked if he would vote for the 5,000 dollar tax Credit for small business-without hesitation-Yes. Fiscally Conservative-NOT.
This is why "O" will achieve his Chavez-Clone-In-Chief status-agenda.
Across the isle benders like this will be a hard thing to stop-until November!
