Well, not really, but something like it happens every year. The talk about Mad Magazine free-associated me to Stan Freberg, the first adult comic I understood, aside from Shelley Berman. Freberg contibuted to Mad a long time ago.
Most of his routines are dated, now, or too long for a quick tramp through the blogs. But this is good, short, and those of a certain age will remember it, although with different imaginings.

I never cared for Stan Freberg because he always acted more talented than he was.
I loved Freberg, and Shelly Berman. Shelly more than Stan, but my pal and I would lister over and over to the recordings. Our teachers thought we were commies - little did they know the we were, in fact, the Conservative Revolution. Ah, youth.
Enjoyed the banter above and your outing of Nick, Rhod. And I loved the John and Marsha schtick. We did skits with it at school back in ye olden times.

Freberg's stuff never called to me. Jay Ward, on the other hand, is timeless.
Thanks for your opinions. Now move on. It's the last time I introduce you philistines to high culture.
Bob & Ray? Si.
Freberg? No.
I'm going to reveal your lifetime membership in The Slow Talkers of America, Goomba.
There. It's done.

A man of good taste, to say the least.
Remember Vaughn Meader? His career ended in one day.
I am the Walrus. They are the Walrus. Everybody's got one.

How come the photo of Rhod at the top of the post? I thought we were incogneeto here.
DC... I stuck Rhod's photo atop the posting. I figured that since it was his high school Chess Club photo, it would make him unrecognizable today.
Mea culpa.
I'm surprised. You usually plead the Fifth.
