I am half Norwegian and half Scottish. And the half Scot blood originates in the Orkney Islands which was Norwegian up until just recently. In other words, I am 100% Norwegian, born here in America. As a 100% Norwegian, I am also Caucasian.

But I am still assumed to be guilty for sins my ancestors committed, primarily that of holding black slaves. The facts are my ancestors were still in Norway when slavery was legal in the US, and arrived here only after the Emancipation Proclamation. My ancestors never held black slaves.

My ancestors did indeed hold white slaves, however, as was the custom of almost every culture back in the day: the Vikings enslaved millions of white Europeans back around the 9th century AD, almost none of them black.

Do I get any credit for that?? NOOOOOOO!

Fredd, I give you credit if that makes you feel better.

I am still mad at the Romans for enslaving my ancestors, and for building that Hadrian's wall. I would demand reparations but the Romans' kids need the money right now.

LL: well, yes. I do in fact feel better now, LL. Do I get even more credit if I confess that my Viking ancestors treated those white slaves really horribly? Like calling them bad names, disrepecting their mama's, and worse?

Their children? They don't accept responsibility for their OWN acts. Heck, they don't accept that they have a duty to their children, at all.
