The Choice is Clear And Simple

You may have clearly defined and well enforced laws to protect the public, or you may have feel-good, emotionally reactive political correctness.

But if you want pubic safety, you can't have both as the Baltimore Sun points out.

Violence surges as Baltimore police officers feel hesitant

The number of shootings and homicides has surged in Baltimore, some police officers say they feel hesitant on the job under intense public scrutiny and in the wake of criminal charges against six officers in the Freddie Gray case.

State's Attorney Marilyn J. Mosby's decision last week to charge the officers has stoked strong opinions across the country — including praise from those who want accountability and derision from some legal experts.

But perhaps the most jarring effect has been on the Baltimore Police Department.

"In 29 years, I've gone through some bad times, but I've never seen it this bad," said Lt. Kenneth Butler, president of the Vanguard Justice Society, a group for black Baltimore police officers. Officers "feel as though the state's attorney will hang them out to dry."

Several officers said in interviews they are concerned crime could spike as officers are hesitant to do their jobs, and criminals sense opportunity. Butler, a shift commander in the Southern District, said his officers are expressing reluctance to go after crime.

They will see it's easier to write a report - AFTER the crime - than try to stop the crime from occurring. After all, why get sued?

WoFat is correct. No more "responding to crimes in progress". Respond when you frigging feel like it and take the paper...and everyone is happy, particularly the "inner city people" who are not victims. Those who are victims...well that's another story. But with 46% black officers (destined to be 100% I suspect), they can have their own defend them.

Let me know how all that works out.

Picking up the pieces after the fact. Slow, methodical, plodding and safe.

Isn't that what politically correct government is all about? Teaching them how to read after they get a HS diploma? Giving them job training after they get out of prison? Teaching them family skills after they've spawned a half dozen kids?

Don't worry too much. Those on the short end of the stick will end up being all alone in the night with whatever they choose to "protect" them. The rest will put up barriers to keep them, and their "protectors" out. The choices have already been made. It'll become a little ugly until realization sets in for those confused souls, lost in the no-man's land, who believe the rhetoric. Clarity or death, but just for those unlucky few.

Do notice, those of the wrong side on the wrong side already live in gated communities. Cheering on the goblins from their posh safety will be remembered... by both sides of the divide. There will be a price for that.

Those sad sack cops that manhandled Freddie Gray screwed it up for their fellow cops. And no way did Freddie break his own neck. Was he a shitty pus bag of a scum sucking dog? Yes, Freddie was no saint.

The good cops have to start making sure that the bad cops among them are weeded out, I don't know of another effect way to clean up the force. And there's a whole lotta bad cops, and I know we disagree about what the percentage is, Sig. I say 1 in 10 should be fired, and should never have been hired in the first place. You may say 1 in 1000, but the public sentiment tends to support my numbers.

Lotta malfeasance on the part of bad cops has been going on a long time. People are pretty sick of it.

Fredd,

First, I have no doubts that someone taking the drugs he was taking could kill himself exactly so. Especially if prison was going to be... particularly difficult. Don't know for sure, but some people got it coming, and gp ain't nice.

Second, goblins get goblin justice. Don't know if that might have been it, and don't care. At this point, I can't. SSS, and at times, I am all for it. Period. Only, do it right. When the military used to do that with international goblins, we had no problems. The bad actors just disappeared. Everybody, us, them, allies, and enemies, knew... when a camp of shits in the desert went dark and were no more, everyone knew and didn't give two shits. Problems solved.

It's when it became a public spectacle, and people started doing the dirty as if they had a right to it, rather than just an ugly duty. You take the right, you do the deed, you bury it deep, you shut up, and you live with your sins, hoping... praying... you do more good than harm. Don't flaunt it. And don't think it means you are a hero... a fucking blood janitor, nothing more.

Don't give a shit if they broke him. Only care that they got caught, or if they were doing it for personal gains or some other corruption.

Doom: 'Goblin justice.' Doom's version of cosmic action/reaction. I'm good with that. Some call it kharma. Hindus are behind that one. "As ye sow, so shall ye reap.' Christians like that one.

What comes around goes around. I am good with all of that.

And these blood janitors of yours, many of them, are getting theirs. They have bullied the public for way too long. Whether it's simply writing a few extra tickets on the spot for bullshit raps after they get a raft of shit for writing that first ticket, or putting handcuffs on so tight that they make the 'perp' bleed, or even break their wrists, that kind of cop has a special place in hell.

And some of that hell is right here, in the here and now.

They can dish it out, but taking it is a whole different thing for them.
