Disabled Russian Warships - 1905

Anyone have an idea of the condition of Russia's navy? I'm wondering if Putin's navy is anything like the hollow shell that Russia threw against the Japanese Navy in 1905.

Belching black smoke, the ageing aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov sailed menacingly close to Britain yesterday in a provocative manoeuvre.

The Soviet-era vessel, leading a flotilla of eight naval vessels, is on its way to the eastern Mediterranean to bolster the Syrian bombing campaign.

[...]Putin's flagship was accompanied by the nuclear-powered missile cruiser Peter the Great and six other surface vessels including the world's biggest ocean going tug, the Nicolay Chiker.

The Kuznetsov never travels far from its home port in Severomorsk, outside Murmansk without the tug in case the vessel's unreliable diesel engines pack up.

The Russian flee is being shadowed by a British destroyer, the HMS Dragon. This Type 45 destroyer has it's own power plant problems:

The turbines are of a sound design but have an intercooler-recuperator that recovers heat from the exhaust and recycles it into the engine, making it more fuel-efficient and reducing the ship’s thermal signature. Unfortunately the intercooler unit has a major design flaw and causes the GTs to fail occasionally. When this happens, the electrical load on the diesel generators can become too great and they ‘trip out’, leaving the ship with no source of power or propulsion.

The Brits could have installed a more mature, reliable power plant produced by General Electric but chose Rolls Royce instead.

This Russian warship may also be a sitting duck for the Type 45's modern  armaments and electronic counter measures.

November Surprise?

I was wondering how long it would take for FBI investigators to start making loud noises about Director Comey's covering of Hillary's ass. I am hoping for a November surprise.

According to Washington D.C. attorney Joe DiGenova, more FBI agents will be talking about the problems at bureau and specifically the handling of the Clinton case by Comey when Congress comes back into session and decides to force them to testify by subpoena.

DiGenova told WMAL radio’s Drive at Five last week, “People are starting to talk. They’re calling their former friends outside the bureau asking for help. We were asked today to provide legal representation to people inside the bureau and agreed to do so and to former agents who want to come forward and talk. Comey thought this was going to go away.”

He explained, “It’s not. People inside the bureau are furious. They are embarrassed. They feel like they are being led by a hack but more than that that they think he’s a crook. They think he’s fundamentally dishonest. They have no confidence in him. The bureau inside right now is a mess.”

He added, “The most important thing of all is that the agents have decided that they are going to talk.”

It's Getting Beyond Nasty

The dems are going all out to steal the election. Project Veritas is one of the few sources trying to blow the lid off these criminal excesses. Criminal prosecutions are absolutely necessary if we are to survive these elections as a free nation.

Last Monday Congress served the FBI with a subpoena demanding all the reports submitted by FBI agents in the Hillary Clinton private email server investigation.

Fox News:

A powerful Republican lawmaker abruptly stopped a hearing Monday on Capitol Hill to serve a subpoena demanding the FBI’s full investigative file on the Hillary Clinton email probe to a top official, telling the man “you are hereby served.”

The dramatic moment came as House Oversight Committee Chairman Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, expressed frustration that the FBI would not guarantee to provide the committee with the full, unedited, unredacted investigative summaries of the federal inquiry into Clinton’s homebrewed server and the Democratic presidential nominee’s potential mishandling of classified information.

“That’s the way a banana republic acts, not the way the United States of America acts,” Chaffetz told FBI acting legislative affairs chief Jason Herring. “I don’t expect to have to issue a subpoena to see unclassified information.”

The FBI could fight the subpoena, though analysts say a resolution could come quickly.

“There are judges sitting in an emergent capacity for applications like this,” Judge Andrew Napolitano said on “Fox & Friends” on Tuesday. “I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s resolved by the end of this week.”

We'll see how far that goes.

Banging My Head Against The Wall

I admit it. I'm getting worn down by all the bullshit.

Day after day after day - the constant lies, the never ending corruption of the highest offices in the country has taken a toll on me. And I blame my fellow citizens for it. Therefore I must also blame myself.

We have allowed this to happen. Our sense of outrage is muted, civilized. What would have had us raging in the streets with torches and lengths of rope now only produces emails and texts. Why are there no marches on Washington?

So many Americans have allowed their moral compass to become rusty from lack of use. America's condition brings to mind Isaiah 53:6 -

"All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all."

But God in His wisdom is allowing this to happen. It has happened throughout history to every civilization and we are no different. Just a bit more short-lived than the Romans or the British Empire.

We were warned by John Adams that, “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” 

A limited government will only be successful when the people it governs limits their own actions. When we fail to internalize moral laws, these laws must be imposed from without. Since man is the source of these imposed laws, they are imposed by imperfect men; therefore they can and must reflect the hearts of men. And scripture warns us that the hearts of mankind are desperately wicked (Jeremiah 17:9). We are seeing this in action as we have for so many years. It's just more out in the open. As attacks on Christ-based belief systems increase, so evil increases. This is what we are experiencing with sexual perversion, Satanism, etc.

Nothing to see here people. It's just business as usual for mankind.

Home Again

We got home last night at the stroke of midnight. We left Capt Carteret (about a 20 minute drive below Camp Lejeune)at 0940 yesterday and drove our girl back to Fayetteville. Left Fayetteville shortly before 1300 so it was a marathon drive day for me. Finally hit the sack about 0130 this morning.

There is nothing like your own sweet bed.
Well, almost nothing.

Saw one single, solitary Hillary *spit* lawn poster the entire week we spent in North Carolina.
This is it.

No, really, I saw scads of Trump posters but just one for Hillary the entire week. Heh.

Fayettevile, NC

We've spent the week house hunting with our daughter in Cumberland and Moore Counties. It's a great way to get lost in a hurry, thank God for GPS. We see some really beautiful homes here as well as some not so nice, but lots and lots of brick which I love.She has about three favorites thus far in her price range. She starts her new job in a few weeks and we're waiting to hear when she starts her  assignment in the Kentucky National Guard.

In our travels we've learned a lot about the area, especially the wear and tear that artillery imposes on a house. Cracks in the walls are very common in homes within a two mile radius of the artillery range at Bragg. It's the sound of freedom ringing throughout the structure.

Our hosts, a retired Army Lt. Colonel and his lovely wife, are simply the most gracious people on the planet. This is the third time we have stayed with them over the past seven years, ever since our daughter was first stationed at Bragg. We met them when the Army sent him to comptroller's school at Syracuse University, they attended our church and my wife taught their young boys in Sunday school. That has to be at least fifteen years ago.

Their twins are now juniors in college, their oldest son just graduated and left a few weeks ago for Ft. Leonard Wood as a brand new 2nd Lt.

The weather has held up nicely, but this morning (it's about 0830) we still have a downpour which has lasted all night so we may have to dampen our efforts to locate a suitable dwelling for our girl. Maybe we'll spend some time in Bragg's excellent PX today. 

I see that all this rain caused an enormous sinkhole to open up on an access road to Fort Bragg.

Yikes!

On Vacay

I am blogging from beautiful southern Maryland, St. Mary's county near Leonardtown, staying with my sister and her husband.  We will celebrate his 70th birthday this week. Then on Monday the wife and I are will continue on our victory tour to Fayetteville, North Carolina, where we will join our daughter in celebrating her terminal leave from the  Army. Yes, our Soldier Girl has had enough of the Big Army and has taken a civilian job with a DoD contractor serving the Little Army, a  JSOC unit at Fort Bragg. She has also joined the Kentucky National Guard, 20th Special Forces Group. She still wants to serve.

We then journey east to Cape Carteret  to stay with some friends near Emerald Island. From there it's homeward bound where I will yet ponder on compete retirement. After 42 years in the business, it's getting old.

Even as Muslim terrorists are attacking Americans on American soil, this witch is throwing blame on anyone other than the Muslims.

She described Trump as a “recruiting sergeant” for ISIS.

Clinton made her remarks on the airport tarmac prior to leaving for an event directed at millennials in Philadelphia, speaking out about the terrorist attacks in New York City before President Barack Obama addressed the nation

She runs and hides from revelations that she helped create ISIS by supplying them with Libyan weapons in a scheme that got Amb. Stevens killed.
