Good morning, Goomba Nation.
A couple of things are on my mind this weekend. I know you all are following the incredible developments in the Massachusetts special election for the U.S. Senate. The coverage across the blogosphere -- including that by Sig here -- has been excellent and most informative.
In a way, Scott Brown's remarkable candidacy has already been a victory for conservatives and freedom-lovers everywhere. But there remains a great opportunity to push Scott Brown over the top and -- dare I say it -- seat a conservative Republican senator from Massachusetts. Let your mind wrap around that thought for a minute. Now, think how a Brown victory might affect the health care "reform" debacle going on right now, as well as the rest of the Obama-Reid-Pelosi agenda.
If you haven't given money or volunteered to help in some way, I'd like to encourage you to do so. If you have a New England accent (ahem), perhaps you could make calls for Scott Brown.
As for me, I gave via National Republican Trust PAC. They fight hard and do the heavy lifting where the weak-kneed and cowering may not tread. Here is the link to National Republican Trust.
Of course, you can also help out directly via the Brown for Senate site.
Finally, I'd be remiss without mentioning the devastation going on in Haiti. Of course, we can talk about why and how (there are lots of ideas theories -- some crazy -- floating around) Haiti was in such bad shape even before the quake. But in the end, as Americans we are truly blessed. Let's thank God for our blessings here. If you feel so inclined, maybe you can donate to many of the fine organizations who are part of the Haiti relief effort.

As for me, I went with the American Red Cross.
Have a great weekend. Thank God for ... our health, our families, our homes and myriad conveniences, our nation and our freedom.
This is still the greatest, most generous, awe-inspiring, always-surprising nation in history.
Talk to you soon.

Amen Rhod.
Americans are among the most generous people on Earth.
The response of this country to disasters such as the one in Haiti is a direct refutation of the idea we are NOT an exceptional nation.
MA has a great chance of changing the dynamics in the health care debate or in the debate that never was, and other issues in Washington.
Yes, Americans are blessed and are generous human beings from the greatest nation on this planet.
Democrats like to point at MA as ahead of the curve... For the first time ever, I agree with them.
Sig, I usually take credit for anything good, but this was DC.
Sig, the most appropriate response to any of DC's posts is "Amen. Rhod".
It's acknowledgment of Rhod's generosity in mentoring the poor chap.
And you, Opie, are more generous than most. Thanks you so much for the Christmas cuff-links. (What does that logo represent?)
Subvet, we are exceptional in that we don't look past our goal of individual liberty.
At least, we used to.
Terri, this is gonna be a tense 3 days. Let's pray for victory in Massachusetts.
Rambler... the irony will be deafening.
Scott Brown has filed a criminal complaint against the MA State Democratic Party for falsehoods used in a recent political mailing.

Republican Scott Brown charged Saturday that a Democratic mailing against his U.S. Senate campaign violates a Massachusetts law prohibiting false statements against a political candidate.
The cover of a four-page mailer sent by the Massachusetts Democratic Party says, "1,736 women were raped in Massachusetts in 2008. Scott Brown wants hospitals to turn them all away."
Hilarious, Nick ... outstanding. I like the faux pas where the blogger is misidentified here. We need to turn it into some sort of prize or something.
It seems that mine are always credited to you or Rhod.
But you're right. Rhod has taught me a lot of English (and other subjects) over the past few years.
And Nick, you have taught me to believe in imaginary internet heroes like Hop Sing.
*sigh*
Sorry DC.
We could always call it "Robert Gibbs Truth In Blog Attribution" Award.
