Sense And Sensitivities

Hello? Hello?
*tap*
*tap*
This thing on?

My first post on GNN - little nervous here.

The State of Massachusetts is suffering from a malaise common to many areas of the nation that share oceanfront property - democratitis. On both the East and Left Coasts this infection has left millions of voters utterly dependant on government and totally oblivious to the character deficiencies of their elected representatives. And no wonder. If you can vote for the likes of Ted Kennedy for decades, your political sensitivity phaser must be set on "Stun Until Dumb." That means you are in perfect condition to vote for Martha Coakley.

While Martha Coakley's slime trail is not as long and wide as that of her recently departed, though still marinating, comrade-in-charms, she compensates magnificently for her lack of licentiousness and depravity with an exceptional streak of incompetence.

Our friends at BigJournalism are likewise impressed with her single- and simple minded devotion to stupidity and willingness to ignore facts - an unbeatable combination in any democratic candidate for Senator.

In researching the ever-intensifying Massachusetts Senate race between Democrat Martha Coakley and her Republican challenger Scott Brown, it only takes a few keystrokes to unearth her ongoing history of questionable judgment and puzzling prosecutorial decisions. Even though the election has been effectively nationalized, with some polls showing the underdog Brown within two points or so of the colorless Coakley, she remains largely unknown outside New England.

So as a public service to the voters of the Bay State, during the run-up to the special election on Jan. 19, Big Journalism will be offering some of the Martha’s Greatest Hits, so that they can fully make up their minds whether she would make a suitable successor to the late Edward Moore Kennedy – who, as you recall, began his illustrious career by being expelled from Harvard for cheating, went on to drown Mary Jo Kopechne at Chappaquiddick, and then turned to a life of drinking and debauchery, including the infamous “waitress sandwich” with soon-to-be-retired Connecticut Senator Christopher Dodd, before attempting to inflict “universal health care” on the country shortly before his death last year.

This article on Ted "Wear Your Seatbelt" Kennedy's death pretty well sums it all up, Martha has some incredibly huge shoes to fill. Treachery, lies and treason on the level of Massachusetts' two Senators - Kerry and Kennedy - is not something you can just walk into. There's years of practice and accompanying media enabling that must go hand in hand for a truly memorable political career such as these giants.

We can’t condemn liberalism itself on the strength of Kennedy’s character. It’s only a coincidence that the man who left Miss Kopechne to tap, tap, tap against the Oldsmobile window while he apparently tried to establish an alibi and otherwise cover his ass also spent a lifetime promoting policies that have endangered our freedoms, harmed our economy and damaged the lives of the poor people they were presumably intended to help.

We know she'll try as hard as she can; as a matter of fact, she has hit the ground stumbling running.

1. October 2005: The curling-iron toddler rape case. Coakley brings no charges, then lets the rapist out on no bail.

“I’ve been a cop for over 26 years and this is one of the most — if not the most — horrific cases I’ve ever seen.” Police Detective Sgt. Barry Campbell

Even in a place like Boston, which has seen its share of horrific sex crimes in recent years, such as the Jeffrey Curley rape and murder in 1997, this was particularly unsettling.

[...]One of the attorneys who had represented the family of Jeffrey Curley was so outraged at Coakley’s inaction in the Winfield case that he challenged Coakley in her run for A.G. in 2006, but lost.

After Coakley’s foot-dragging, Winfield eventually was found guilty on all four charges of the August 2006 indictment: two counts of rape of a child with force, one count of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14, and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury. He was sentenced to two life terms.

So let’s be clear: Martha Coakley failed to take action against a man who molested his own niece, a child, with a curling iron until her hand was finally forced by the victim’s mother.

I've investigated sex crimes. I cannot for the life of me understand how a prosecutor could let this case sit for as long as she did and let her successor put this scum away. I've seen prosecutors chaffing at the bit for far less. Hell, in my office I've watched female ADA's pitch themselves for the "Queen of Mean" as they slam sex offenders with maximum bail and maximum sentences. They do everything but try to castrate the SOB on the witness stand with a butter knife. But Coakley ROR's this pervert? Obviously she was just going through the paces as District Attorney on her way to something else. She had no feel, no passion for the job.

This is only the first in a series of Coakley hits. I'll keep you posted.

Coakley Internals Show Her at +2: 'May Be Too Far Gone'

[Daniel Foster]
Independent journalist Steve Kornacki said just a week ago that Scott Brown didn't have a chance. In a
post today in which he reverses course on that prediction, Kornacki has quite the juicy tidbit:

Coakley's internal poll last night, I've been told, showed her barely ahead, 46 to 44 percent. The momentum clearly favors Brown, and one very smart Massachusetts Democrat I know told me this morning that "this may be too far gone to recover."

Sig, you're a natural, although being a prose natural is damn hard work.

Yes, they rolled out Kerry to praise Coakley in Worcester. The dunce has a way of pushing stupidity past his usual frontier to a wind-swept wilderness every time he tries to be likeable.

I never understood the perversity of class in Massachusetts that kept the goat-faced idiot and the bloated libertine in the Senate for so long, but the same indifference to quality and character will probably continue with the bizarre Coakley.

Sig. Pure Poetry.

SPOV - you're too kind.

Rhod - I'm surprised the dems didn't install El Bloato under glass ala Lenin. Instead of parading him around they could then parade us past him.

Kid - stop it, you'll turn my pretty head.

Good post! Looking forward to the next one.

Today Obama went on youtube(!) to shill for Coakley, whom he called his "ally." Massachusetts needs to elect Coakley, he said, because his health care reform "and other fights will probably rest on one vote in the United States Senate."

Looks like Obama just gave every Sox fan in Massachusetts a few more reasons to get to the polls with a vote for Brown.

Coakley is still wearing diapers ... and they haven't been changed for a while.

Nice to see you over here, sig...hoofuckingahh!

The amount of sneaky stuff going on around this election is mind boggling. So out in the open yet every actor in this malfeasance acts like it is not happening. Oh, we will not seat Brown for awhile. The sec of state has been spanked by the feds repeatedly for not dealing fairly with the military vote, not counting them for any reason they could find. Denying the the most basic right to these people who put their lives on the line so that we can vote. 60,000 absentee ballots out and counting. ACORN and SEIU thugs setting up shop. The usual suspects in Washington lending their support with the spin machine whirling away at shrill overdrive. The Obots are all in, to the stops.

Watch and be ready for grassroots action the moment the stealing starts. And it will start. It will be a test for the vote fraud crowd for November...

QT - I surprised he didn't call her his number one beeyotch. And we're going to need every Sox fan to vote for Scott and then some.

sig94 said...

Snarkey - yeah, I'm surprised at where I pop up. Coakley better be wearing Depends when the citizens of Massachusetts throw her out.

sig94 said...

Toaster - they can do that because none of the media call them to task for it. I only hope that the Repubs will use this election as a preparation and planning exercise to develop strategies to fight voter fraud in ensuing elections. If not, then buy more ammo.

Excellent job, Sig. I am following this race from my palatial double-wide with keen interest.

If Mass. elects a conservative Republican senator, well ... we have some fun times ahead indeed.

The sad thing is that we truly have to watch and worry that the Democrats will steal it if it's close. It's a damn shame.

As I was reading your parade of horribles about her, I sort of came to the same conclusion as Rhod: She sounds right up Mass's alley.

Never been here before but after reading down several posts I am amazed...great writing. Loved the first post.
Very SICK about the Coakly person. Pray she doesn't get in office.......the "tap, tap, tap, on the Oldsmobile window" was so visual. It made me sick. I had to read it about three times. That poor woman. Why in the WORLD was she with that wretched man...for whatever the reason..it was a bad one. Her last bad decision in fact.

Sig... Wow! First time up at the plate and you pull one right out of the park.

I'm planning to stay up late Tuesday night following the Coakley results. Your post has me counting the hours.

Some miniscule good news from MA. Both my sister-in-law and her husband, both libs (I'm working on it) are voting for Brown. And her husband is in the union!! Things may indeed be changing. If there are 20% of the Dems who think like these two, then Brown stands a decent chance. Let's say a little preayer for him, because indeed, that's a little prayer for America!

Hoping, I'm sending prayers and dollars.

DC - you and Rhod are right, but I was thinking of another location somewhat south of MA's alley and above MA's knees.

Nickie - again, thanks for the opportunity to romp in your sandbox.
