Thank you, again. Wow. What an American. What a man. As long as we produce that kind of fight and spirit here (even though it may seem scarce or hard to see at the moment), America will be okay.
May he R.I.P. and a belated thank you for your service Col.
Although pleased I am puzzled though why NBC would highlight and honor a American hero from an era they despise when all they do is demonize hero's of today?
This man lived in pucker times. I wonder how many others (and their children and their children's children) are alive because of his bravery. Over the course of several generations - could be hundreds. The list of citations - unbelieveable courage.
Somehow the world is a lesser place now this man is no longer walking amongst us. Can't find any more of my own words for this one NickieG, so have reached back for someone elses that sums up my thoughts on these heroes: Death is not forgetting, it is remembering. Comfort comes from the sharing of grief, but more especially from the sharing of gratitude. The spirit of someone who dies lives on, through gratitude, in the hearts of those left behind.
"It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived." - General George S. Patton, Jr
Thank God such men as Howard have lived.
This is the kind of men who should be our youth's role model. Not a sports "star". Not a music "star". Men who are "stars" by virtue of time tested qualities. Duty. Honor. Courage. Excellence in action. Humble in manner and lion's in deed. You do not even have to be a warrior to do these things. If the country had more citizens who lived such virtues, we would not be standing on the edge of socialized totalitarianism we are teetering on now.
Howard is the type of "star" and role model I want my son to look up to. And aspire to be.

Thanks you and also Sig94 for the link supplied here in the comment section.
Hats off to a great American; may he rest in peace.
RIP, Colonel.
Concord Carpenter, the sheep think the wolf will never come, while the sheepdog lives for that day.
Great reference.
It was an honor to post this. Thanks to Rhod for pointing me in the right direction.
