Happy New Year, Goomba Nation ... There are still American heroes among us.

Sgt. Guinta uses some colorful language, so you are warned. This clip is worth your viewing. Be inspired, and resolve to live worthy of the title "American" in 2011.

Heroes are everywhere. The problem is that nobody is looking for them.

Colorful language? I hope nobody's offended. People must not be made uncomfortable in the USA.

He used the term "bad guys". I find that highly judgmental. He should have said "victims".

Zio, I was more bothered by the sexism. "Bad persons" is probably more correct. Did he get an Article 15 for that hate speech?

It is okay to be sexist when referring to bad "guys." C'mon, Goomba, that is PC 101.

Capt., that's your Army there. Sgt. Giunta sprang from your nation. He was making Subways when he heard the call. Go and get some in 2011.

And Wetz, you are right. However, heroes do what they do for reasons other than notoriety. And they will spring into action and into view when they will. Seeing them is unavoidable.

Wood, you got it.

And Nicolai, that's your one mulligan for '11. You are just like my kids, using words I have scolded you about. "My bad ... " Geez. Go to your room and write on a Big Chief tablet, "I shan't speak like a metrosexual evermore" 100 times.

It just reinforces my belief that "Heroes just happen." They do not plan on being brave - they just do what they gotta do. God bless and protect the finest fighters in the world - the US military..

I heard nothing offensive as this young man shared his soul. May he live to enjoy old age and may the horrors of war be left behind.
