Muslims Celebrate The New Year With Old Violence

Once again the well-mannered adherents of the Religion of Peace roll up their sleeves and demonstrate that peace is a relative term that does not necessarily mean the absence of terror and bloodshed.

VATICAN CITY -- Pope Benedict XVI on Saturday led condemnation of a New Year's Day bomb attack in a Coptic church in Egypt that claimed 21 lives, urging world leaders to defend Christians against abuse.

The head of the Roman Catholic Church was the first religious leader to react to the bombing which targeted worshippers as they emerged from a midnight mass in Alexandria.

In his homily at New Year's Day mass, the pope spoke of mounting tensions, "especially discrimination, abuse and religious intolerance which are today striking Christians in particular."

"I once again launch a pressing appeal not to give in to discouragement and resignation," he said, calling for the "concrete and constant engagement of leaders of nations" to protect Christians.

The Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, Fuad Twal, called on Christians to show courage in the face of the attack.

And once again the Islamic news washing machine that services the Religion of Peace cycles from "Spin" to "Frappe" in its coverage of this murderous attack.
The Islamist Palestinian movement Hamas also condemned the attack, saying it was "certain it was the work of elements acting against the interests of Egypt and looking to promote confrontation between Muslims and Christians".

A top Shiite Muslim leader in Lebanon, Sheikh Abdel Amir Kabalan, denounced the attack as a "terrorist act aimed at sowing chaos and fear in Egypt".

"This terrorist act bears the fingerprints of Zionists who keep on targeting religious sights and are working to ... sow discord between Muslims and Christians," Kabalan said in a statement.
Aside from Islamic apologists, what does the Prophet Mohammad through the Koran have to say about this?

Allah is an enemy to unbelievers. - Sura 2:98

On unbelievers is the curse of Allah. - Sura 2:161

Slay them wherever ye find them and drive them out of the places whence they drove you out, for persecution is worse than slaughter. - Sura 2:191

Fight against them until idolatry is no more and Allah's religion reigns supreme.- Sura 2:193
Apparently the perpetrators of this outrage were good, obedient Muslims who were following the tenets of Islam. Who will you believe?

Stand by, it'll get a lot worse before it gets better.

Nickie - Yamamoto may actually have never uttered the famous "We have awakened a sleeping giant and filled him with a terrible resolve" comment made famous in the movie Tora Tora Tora. But I wonder if self indulgent Americans are even capable of outrage and the accompanying resolve if Islam strikes a terrible blow against us again.

Sig... the sides seem pretty well entrenched. Another attack will only raise the volume of the noisemaking.

Nickie - we all know the sides have been drawn for 14 centuries and yet they are ignored by western nations. Unfortunately there is nothing wrong with Muslim memories; an offense a 1000 years ago is as yesterday and today's offense is as one that has simmered and boiled for a millennia.

Ann Coulter had it right, "We should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity." Step one is done.

Gorges - let's finish the Islamic cocktail: terror, bloodshed and an insane pedophile for a prophet.

It's a true peace we can all believe in. I get so angry at this "crap", I have to reign in my comments.

A civilization that can't decide what, in itself, is worth defending, simply will not recognize danger. It isn't wilful blindness, because that can be overcome. It's base cowardice, which is permanent.

Odie - I have to rein it in whenever I get on this topic. If I don't, there's nothing but a profanatory stream of vituperation.

Rhod - this is what happens when you turn a goodly segment of the population into parasites. They have never contributed anything to society except for a wish list.

I definitely think that this case happens due to political issues not the religion. Just as the case happening in many cities in my country where the rich people, non-Muslims, treat their servants unfairly, even by torturing them.

There are things happening in the society that cannot be automatically related to religion. It's again, political. And political kills us all. Why? because we build the way we think, and the world we live will be the same as what we think. So, be careful of what we think. Cheers...!
