Hopefully Their Army Works Better Than Their Navy

In response to apparent Russian provocation, the Brits are beefing up their military presence in Estonia.
British troops began a long-term deployment to Estonia on Saturday as Germany’s intelligence chief warned Russia had doubled its military presence on its Western border.

An advanced contingent of 120 British soldiers landed at Estonia’s Amari airbase late on Friday night as part of a new Nato deployment designed to deter Russia from attempting a repeat of its invasions of Crimea and Eastern Ukraine in the Baltic.

Eight hundred British troops with Challenger 2 tanks, AS90 self-propelled guns, and Warrior armoured vehicles, will be based in the town of Tapa, 80 miles from the Russian border, from next month.
This is part of a planned exercise with French and other NATO forces in Latvia, Lithuania, and Poland. Additional British troops will be sent to Poland to augment American forces already stationed there.

Story here.

As far as the readiness of the best warships in Her Majesty's Navy, go here.  Unfortunately our own navy apparently isn't in much better shape.

I don't understand Russia's thinking.

I am wondering if Putin is in a lot of trouble in Russia. Keeping it quiet only serves his presence internationally. Tyrants are known to start wars, or provoke reaction, as a means of gaining more power to stop home opposition and raise national morale. Either that or the whole thing is a dog and pony show to keep eyes diverted from other things. I don't trust our own political situations, and certainly not our media.

Things are so out of balance, in all ways, that nothing but uncertainty is certain. I'm not absolutely sure there are even any good guys in the game, not with any real power. Yeah, I get exactly what I am saying. We'll see.

The Brits require American hulls and aircraft to move their land army. What navy the British have isn't bad, just a little out of date and of course they can't replace anything that is battle damaged, so remaining in port beats setting out to sea. Fighting the Argentine Navy put a serious dent in them...and of course the Royal Navy is in much worse shape now than it was then.

Doom is right for not trusting political situation and media. Putin knows a lot from Hillary's emails, and from the foreign media's disloyalty, so he probably knows what he's doing.

Oh, as to British troop performance itself? Immaterial. If you send British, or really any European troops anywhere? They aren't going to help. They are more like a fuse. If they break, US becomes involved. They are simply expendable placeholders.

You... do remember WW I and II, don't you? Brits, Italian, French, Russian, even German really... no chance. US forces horrified Europeans, who fight more like Mexicans or something. The Brits weren't sent there to fight, they can't.

Someone should have shot Monty. Then again, they might actually have found someone worse. Combining nobility with bureaucracy, in a secularly philosophical state religion nation, to end up with the worst of each ruling a land and that is what you get. Peasants lead by Godless idiocrats.

Bleh.
