Why I Blog
Janeane Garofalo quotes:
“When I see the American flag, I go, 'Oh my God, you're insulting me.'”
“When Communist U.S.S.R. was a superpower, the world was better off. The right-wing media is trying to marginalize the peace movement.”
“You have to have a lot more dedication to what I'll call 'the machine,' ... I have 20 percent dedication. What's needed is 110 percent. You can't have it with the level of apathy I have.”
"You know, there's nothing more interesting than seeing a bunch of racists become confused and angry at a speech they're not quite certain what he's saying. It sounds right and then it doesn't make sense. Which, let's be very honest about what this is about. It's not about bashing Democrats, it's not about taxes, they have no idea what the Boston tea party was about, they don't know their history at all. This is about hating a black man in the White House. This is racism straight up. That is nothing but a bunch of teabagging rednecks. And there is no way around that. And you know, you can tell these type of right wingers anything and they'll believe it, except the truth. You tell them the truth and they become -- it's like showing Frankenstein's monster fire. They become confused, and angry and highly volatile."
"These guys hate that a black guy is in the White House. But they immigrant bash, they pretend taxes and tea bags, and like I said, most of them probably couldn't tell you thing one about taxation without representation, the Boston tea party, the British imperialism, whatever the history lesson has to be. But these people, all white for the most part, unless there's some people with Stockholm syndrome there."

I can't imagine, Bill, why anyone would solicit, or even listen to, her opinion. Perhaps it's a generational thing or a man-woman thing.
Dillinger, that tone will not do. I'll be turning you in first thing in the morning.
She is the new "hippie". People that thought they missed out on something "cool" by being to young to have been at Woodstock, think she is a genius. The schools have been dumbing us down for a while now.
I have never heard of this woman before reading your post. I am going to go out on a limb and guess a few things.
1. She has never had a job where she actually produced anything.
2. She has never owned or ran a business.
3. She has never produced enough income where she had to pay significant taxes.
4. She donates little, if any, hard cold cash to any charity that actually helps anyone.
I could be wrong, but I doubt it.
Mrs, I agree. But it's hard to believe that we're so culturally abused that we'd see her as any kind of celebrity or role model.
I read an interview that Garofalo did with GEEK magazine. She said that her father is an evil conservative racist... yada yada. The interesting (and frightening) thing is that she said she was a conservative too until she went to Providence College, where she experienced a spontaneous conversion to liberalism.
Culturally abused...hmmm...have you seen the Veiw, lately or MSNBC? I didn't really understand I was culturally abused until I realized I knew right away that I was being insulted by the term "teabagger". At my age, even with a teen in the house, I should have needed to look it up. LOL, sorta.
Extractor, having been raised in Providence, it's all beginning to make sense to me now.
Captain, I'll bet you're right on all but one count. She probably has earned plenty of $$$$. That is, if you consider being famous for being famous is earning a living.
And you can bet she has a talented accountant.
It was for this woman the word imbicile was invented and it's nearly a shame the classical meaning is falling out of fashion.
Where would we be without her?
Jeez, Chup... How about a warning before that avatar pops up. I almost spilled my martini!
LL, I don't notice race. I don't notice gender. I don't notice nationality. I never notice a damn thing. Ask my wife.
Yeah, Nicki. The jokes on me, I googled her and found out who she was.
Of course since she's an "artist", she has all sorts of credibility like Penn, Franken and Robbins.
I don't mind that these people have opinions, I just hate that they're taken seriously.
Captain, I'm sure Penn is planning to be the next great political powerhouse from California.
He has all the qualifications... He's wealthy, business-ignorant, and self-centered.
Droll, yeah, that's the ticket. And ironically cynical. You are correct in your description of her, Jane, but I can't help but be sickened by decades peppered with vapid no-nothings like her.
BTW, I'm sure those tattoos will age well.
I thought you have to be at least a little attractive to be an actress.
I think she is beneath our notice.
Ope, she bugs me, I suppose, because she represents lazy, popular "isms".
I run into versions of her every day. The wallow in their own ignorance.
I understand, NIckie. I am somewhat sheltered down here in Orange County.
Another one who's worked out how never to actually do any work.
Heads up.
She a member of what we call over here 'the chattering classes'. You know, the type that know bugger all but think they know everything.
Oh, and NG, I really don't like the font on your blog!
Just sayin...
I blame the schools.
For every pile of Olbermann, there's a maggot.
PS:
That last quote is worrisome. She ought make an appointment for a word-salad evaluation.
The slag must have had too many blows to the head at her last pudding wrestle.
There was a time, long ago, that I actually enjoyed a couple of her movies and thought her funny. Those days are LOOOOOONG gone.
I'm able to compartmentalize pretty well, most of the time, with this stuff. I can disagree with someone on political views and still enjoy their work as an artist/actor/whatever. Sean Penn is one example - though he's come really close a time or two.
Sometimes, though, someone is so despicable in their hateful spewing that I just have to banish them from my brain. Ms Garafalo resides at the top of that list.
This is the attitude of the left....They don't seem to understand what liberty and freedom is all about.
We all will be arrested by the FBI (who by the way DEFINITELY reads this blog) and send to Guantanamo!:)))
Land of the free no more...
On a second read - I remember who she is now... She used to be uhhh...chubby, G rated actress, right? She lost bunch of weight and with this, obviously, part of her mind.
If she likes Russia so much, why she don't go and live there? There isn't something so LAME to hate capitalism so much, but live in it!
Opie, you're just a short carjack from Los Angeles.
Yeah, Incoming... Her, the entire California legislature, and half the state's population.
Rab... She won't stop talkin'. Why won't she give it a rest? She's got more rabbit than Sainsbury's....etc.
Thanks for the font nod. I've noticed it looks pretty bad in IE.
Rhod... Leave it to you, at least once fortnightly, to toss out the old pudding card. It never fails.
Paladin,
I, too, also admired her comedic talents. Obviously, so did she, and she felt it was a passport and First Class ticket to ignorance.
Lucy, be careful. They're watching and reporting.
I believe that Hollywood celebrities and Lefties are way smarter than us.
Admiral, every time I go to the supermarket and watch the hippies in striped Peruvian knit hats shopping for soy chips in the healthy-fake-food section, I think the same thing.
Mammon, you gotta think that's gonna be a pretty good sized group at Gitmo.
I'll bring the chips and dip. Mammon, you get a couple of cans of spray cheese. DC, Parchesi. Rhod, leave the gun, take the cannolis.
She can't see the forest from the trees. She then tries to articulate (incoherently) about the forest.
I liked her okay in oh what was that movie with Ben Stiller, Tom Waits, Hank Azaria, Eddie Izzard, Paul Ruebens,... the one about the misfit superheroes..."Mystery Men"! The ensemble cast made it a good movie. She should go back to pretending for a living.
Woody, you're right.
She sees the world through the vaseline-smeared lens of Hollywood.
Red,
I've seen her in things that had me admiring her talent. But, heck, I understand that Jeffrey Dahmer was a whiz on the harmonica.
@NG:
You got it! :) At least we all are going to be one pretty damn intelligent prison population! Besides, I made a GREAT Lasagna. ;)
Hey man, Dahmer put the harm in harmonica. He tried out for the Harmonicats but they took Billy Barty instead/
Mammon, you're in charge of catering.
Rhod, he was only drawn to the instrument when he heard it referred to as a mouth organ.
I'll bring an accordian. Every POW camp needs an accordian.
Oh my God...
She certainly looks the part - completely thick - I'm surprised she even bothers to shave her legs!!!
People like her like to have their every step planned for them by someone else as, in terms of achieving adulthood, they are still at school - or they wish they were!
Grow the fuck up, you wankers!
BTW, Thanks for dropping by my place, Nickie, glad you enjoyed the video - I've been absent from blogging for a couple of days to put it together. (the singer's a right bastard, though - Ha!)
Mike, I wish this guy would have been an inspirational pioneer and patriot. You know, a healer.
So much for wishes.
Barky, I played that damn thing three times. Pretty catchy.
Rhod, how about one more encore of Lady of Spain?
You guys are killing me today. Harm in harmonica. Mouth organ. Ha ha ha!!!!
Well Rhod? How about the Lady of Spain?
I'll bring the salad.
Who is bringing The Communist Manifesto?! And the WHIP?!
Right, Opie, and Goomba puts the fun back in fundamentalism.
You know, I had two costumes somewhere for my Lady of Spain gig.
Maracas are optional, but the hat with little balls hanging from the rim...or the big pile of fruit deal with just the right touch of banana.
Forget it, the mice got into my Annie Lennox gaucho vest.
Any POW camp needs at least one South Pacific production. Rhod, dust off the coconut shell bra just one more time.
Mammon, our bedtime reading will be Ayn Rand.
Nickie - Are these quotes for real? The USSR one? This is awesome, mind if I put up part of this and link back to you?
Could you blogroll me too Nickie? Just did for you.........
Dear God man, warm me next time.
Now where is that eye bleach.
Way too much sexual tension. Janeane's mind is twisting in the wind.
PMS - She should live in Any other country for a year or so And pay her own way. She'd kiss the ground when she got back.
Where do these miscreants come from ?
Rebel...
Number 1: Go right ahead
Number 2: Done
Scalawag,
Toughen up, ma. Much worse things have been spotted at sea.
Kid, they come from universities. DC blames the schools.
