Do They Make Politicians Like This Anymore?
I find myself singing made-up lyrics to my toddler to the tune of "Davy Crockett". Just for kicks, tonight I looked up the song on You Tube. Fess Parker didn't do a bad job. And now I feel wistful. Can we find politicians like this? Real men who know about life and war and survival and honor? Men who can go to Washinton to do their "politickin", then go off into the sunset of the frontier?
Well, at least we can send our career politicians off into the sunset. That is probably a more attainable goal.

Davy Crockett was my model back in 1956 or so. I had all the gear. I think that kind of man went out of style with the arrival of JFK.
People are in a retro mood right now. Most Tea Party folks want to emulate the founders of our country. We must educate our children about the great men of our past, because the liberal educators have refused to do so.
The real Davy Crocket (as opposed to the Disney rendition) was not the character many people think he was. Historical inquiry was not kind to the Congressman.
I don't doubt his courage, but his death at the Alamo propelled him from scandal to the heroic spotlight.
Texans revere the Alamo and all of the popular myths associated thereto and I don't want to irritate my Lone Star State brethren. There is quite a bit here and there on the Internet on the subject of Mr. Crockett and the last days of the Alamo with significant weight to the topic that more or less recently came to light.
I'd like to run today's politicians through a shredder and feed them to pigs.
Oops...yet another statement that'll get me on the watch lists.
I have always romanticized the image of the Warrior Poet. They rarely find success (or traction) in politics.

I say ship all of congress out to a deserted Island, with NO food, NO water and let them fend for themselves. Who knows... Would they kill one another? Or would the animals kill em first? That would take care of our problems.

Think of all the money we could save if we shipped them all off for a tropical vacation for the next year. Even with the expenses, it couldn't come close to the cost of the bills they are trying to ram through.
Many folks are not aware of Davy Crockett's conservative political dealings in congress. His expressions on how Not to use the public treasury to dole out hard earned taxpayer's money, even to the most deserving widow should be mandatory reading for those elected to office.
"I told the people of my district that I would serve them as faithfully as I had done; but if not ... you may all go to hell, and I will go to Texas." That's what Davy Crockett said upon his final political defeat.
He wasn't from Texas, but he got here as fast as he could. Great song, too. Thanks, Opie, for sharing.

Interesting point here. We have Goldarn people in Congress who have never had to fight. Some have never had to work.
Pelosi never had a paying job according to her bio on her own site. Biden was Dang Senator at 23.
We now have a Stinkin POTUS who doesn't know Jack about American History !
All making decisions for working fighting Americans.
