Carbonite Just Turned Into Kryptonite

Investors Flee Carbonite After Limbaugh Announcement

Remember last week when Carbonite CEO David Friend decided to punish Rush Limbaugh for insluting, oops, I mean insulting Ms. Fluke and her alleged $3,000 cysts? Mr. Friend was all in a tizzy and yanked his advertising from the Rush Limbaugh program to show what a caring, sensitive, compassionate, blah de blah blah he was.

Well, Mr. Friend is in another tizzy because his company is going down the crapper. This is how investors engage in "civilized discourse" Mr.Friend.
Investors Drop Carbonite After Limbaugh Controversy

On Saturday, Carbonite CEO David Friend released a statement on his company’s website declaring that Carbonite had decided to “withdraw” advertising from Rush Limbaugh’s radio show in the wake of his controversial remarks involving Georgetown Law student Sandra Fluke because it will “ultimately contribute to a more civilized public discourse”:

Even though Mr. Limbaugh has now issued an apology, we have nonetheless decided to withdraw our advertising from his show. We hope that our action, along with the other advertisers who have already withdrawn their ads, will ultimately contribute to a more civilized public discourse.

All told, Carbonite stock is down 12% in two days, far outstripping the market's over all decline.

Yep, people are fleeing carbonite. Since you can't get your money back if you've been in for 60 days + (according to persons who use the service) expect the customers to be fleeing for the next 10 months as their service contracts expire and those folks find other alternatives. What a moroon !

PS - Civilized Dialogue?????

You mean like when oblabber gave McCain and every other political opponent in the 08 election the not so stealth FINGER on National TV?

Or when oblabber called Sarah Palin out for being a Pig with Lipstick? (and his sick little F followers howled like monkeys?)

Or when his media dipstick tools used every piece of foul language about Sarah Palin and every other political opponent in the run up to the election?!?!?

And Sarah Palin - regardless of anything else was the Governor of Alaska, a good women, wife, and Mother. Not some paid tool slut of a "Georgetown Law Student" who apparently values sex more than food, or is so stupid she doesn't realize she pays more for food than for BC pills and/or condoms, let alone doesn't ask her male partners to help with the sex costs? Does she even pick up the tab for dinner too ?

That kind of civilized discourse ?????

Good Lord ! :)

Much ado about nothing.

I can't stand Ben and Jerry's politics, but I still wolf down way too much 'Chubby Hubby.'

Ditto with Steve Jobs, but both Rush and I love our iPods.

And I have a Carbonite account, and the only way I am cancelling it is with the use of my cold, dead fingers typing out the cancellation request. And they wouldn't give me back my prepaid subscription money, anyway.

pus - if Carbonite has a superior product, they probably will survive. They just may not do as much business as before but that is because of a poor marketing decision they'll have to live with. They should have just pulled their ads and kept their big mouths shut. But nooooooooo! They had to make it a political statement.

Odie - Ohhhh, I dunno. I can think of a few, like some of the politicians in this country.

On second thought, they're sluts too. Guess you're right!

Fredd - mine is Perry's "Death By Chocolate."

Mine used to be 'Heath Bar Crunch,' but I can't find that slow death anymore on the shelves.

But Ben and Jerry's views still suck.

Fredd - it's for that reason that I will not buy their products.... unless they are irresistible as you suggest. Dang!

Carbonite is up 25% since it was labeled Kryptonite. Carbonite's ups and downs have little to do with politics. But I respect a man who says he doesn't want to pay someone to deliberately and persistently denigrate women his daughter's age.

Back in 2007, republicans erupted in glee when Ted Nugent said he wanted to use the automatic weapon he was wielding to kill Obama and rape Hillary Clinton. Fox News later welcomed Nugent on the network as a "good friend."

Then republicans reversed themselves and wanted to boycott all of HBO because of two Bill Maher one-liners.

Finally republicans did another 180 and defended Limbaugh for his terrible three-day attack on Sandra Fluke. To make matters worse, republicans have continued to carry on the attacks against this young woman, and are trying to go after former sponsors who refuse to fund such hate speech.

Flippity, flippity-flop.
