Siggie mentioned Nessun Dorma in his last post. I made me recall my favorite rendition of the ditty. Click on the photo below of pudgy pasty Paula Potts, and listen.
Nessun dorma! Nessun dorma!
Tu pure, o, Principessa,
nella tua fredda stanza,
guardi le stelle
che tremano d'amore
e di speranza.
Ma il mio mistero è chiuso in me,
il nome mio nessun saprà!
No, no, sulla tua bocca lo dirò
quando la luce splenderà!
Ed il mio bacio scioglierà il silenzio
che ti fa mia!
(Il nome suo nessun saprà!...
e noi dovrem, ahime, morir!)
Dilegua, o notte!
Tramontate, stelle!
Tramontate, stelle!
All'alba vincerò!
vincerò, vincerò!
English Translation of "Nessun Dorma":
Nobody shall sleep!...
Nobody shall sleep!
Even you, o Princess,
in your cold room,
watch the stars,
that tremble with love and with hope.
But my secret is hidden within me,
my name no one shall know...
No!...No!...
On your mouth I will tell it when the light shines.
And my kiss will dissolve the silence that makes you mine!...
(No one will know his name and we must, alas, die.)
Vanish, o night!
Set, stars! Set, stars!
At dawn, I will win! I will win! I will win!

That singing was absolutely fabulous!!!
Thanks for posting the english translation, Nickie.
That was great!
Teresa, I always try to appeal to your romantic side.
Klik... I know. I still get goosebumps.
Exactly!
Absolutely brilliant :o)
That song is always a little bittersweet for England football (soccer) fans as Pavarotti's version was the theme for the Italia '90 World Cup. England were knocked out in the semis, on penalties, beaten by Germany..... it still hurts all these years later .......... ;)
Lump of coal indeed ... WOW !
Lady, expect no World Cup guilt from the Goomba Blog. I still sleep in those well-worn Italia pyjamas.
Exactly, Woody.
Someone request a shoe catalog?
It not nice to advertise without an invite.
I'm waiting for an advert for spats. Now there's a good look!
