"Pro-Choice"?? Only if you choose what they want you to choose

QB Tim Tebow wakes up last week to find himself demonized by the Feminist Pro-Abortion forces. Individuals whose noblest moral achievements have been encouraging the destruction of unborn embryos, and whose greatest athletic triumphs have been getting from Starbuck's to the office without spilling their soy lattes. How dare this young man give thanks for his mother's courage.

Next Sunday, when millions of people tune in to watch Super Bowl XLIV, they'll see a football star off the field, too. Tim Tebow, the University of Florida's Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback, is set to appear with his mother in a 30-second advertisement to be aired during the game.

The spot, which has not been released, features Tebow, by all reports a humble young man who takes his faith seriously, and his mother telling the story of her decision 23 years ago to ignore medical advice and continue a risky pregnancy. Pam Tebow had contracted amoebic dysentery, and her doctors feared that the medicine used to treat her illness might cause fetal deformity. The healthy and very successful Tim proved them wrong.

Sarah Palin defended the Tim Tebow ad against abortion. Feminist groups objected to it, but attacking an ad that tells the story of a woman’s decision not to have an abortion could backfire.

The National Organization for Women is in full third-and-long mode, first demanding that CBS withdraw an antiabortion ad featuring ex-Florida QB Tim Tebow, and then going after former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin for calling the ad “pro-family” and “empowering [for] women.”

But while groups like NOW are attacking Mr. Tebow, CBS, and the conservative Focus on the Family organization that underwrote the ad, some pop culture experts are saying that feminist groups may have overreached in their reaction to an ad they haven’t actually seen.

“The protest against the Tebow ad is probably an enormous overreaction that probably did more to get Focus on the Family out into the public eye than it would have if they just let it be,” says Robert Thompson, director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture at Syracuse University. At the least, he says, “there were miscalculations on the part of [abortion rights groups]. You always show your hand when you make a complaint about something you’ve never seen. That’s not an intelligent way to approach it.”

"not an intelligent way to approach it."

Oh, brother...my mind is racing so fast with retorts that I've gone into keyboard gridlock.

Tim Tebow - a man who lives his values.

This is a wonderful story about a life saved. The life, Tim Tebow, and all of his accomplishments should be celebrated. His mother chose LIFE- YEAH!!!!

RP, thanks for the heads-up. I hate to admit it still took me 3 reads to find the error.

Zio, you're talking to a guy who often forgets to blink. I'm not a stickler for detail.

His mother deserves credit. And Tim seems like a nice young man.

It is disgusting that people are threatened by this heartwarming story of life and courage.

Opie... In truth, it has nothing to do with this kid or his mother. It has to do with a Socialist agenda and the destruction of traditional families.

Being adopted from teenage parents -who left me at a Catholic infant home- I can relate... my own narrative strongly influences my pro-life stance.

Like Mr Tebow, I wouldn't have been here if someone hadn't gone through some real personal sacrifice and did the right thing... and I know I'm blessed.

Then on the other hand, you have self-absorbed pigs like Madonna who pretend to be spiritual while flushing babies away who might interfere with her tour schedule...

Yeah, Tim- lucky, aren't we brother?

What I find so strange are all the people that are so opposed to the commercial without seeing it.

While the topic was abortion the root topic, just out of focus is the ability of those in power to silence any and all who have a view which runs contrary to those in power. We need to make sure that freedom of expression is preserved for future generations.

Nickie,

Speaking on behalf of half of The Born Again Americans all I can say is not only did Mrs. Tebow give the world the best college football player the game has ever seen, she gave us one of the most decent human beings anyone could ever hope to meet!

Tim Tebow is the epitome of someone who talks the talk and walks the walk. At twenty three he has shown an amazing amount of ability on and off the football field. The amount of Humanitarian deeds he has done can rarely be matched by people twice his age.

He is destined for even more greatness and we all owe it to his mother who believed in "LIFE!"

N.O.W., N.O.W. - let's calm the hell down. You've got to remember who you're dealing with. A bunch of post-menopausal gals who may have left one or two of their children live and, in remorse for this unconscionable act, now insist that the network not break its "longstanding tradition of not airing controversial spots during sports events."
Terry O'Neill went on to say: “There are always going to be women who need abortions. In this country, one in three women will have an abortion.”

I remember the women's libber t-shirts that said, "A woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle."

We should sell a t-shirt that says "Liberal women need ovaries like a bicycle needs an abortion."

You heard it here first, on GNN.
I will accept royalties - thank you.

It makes me feel like retroactive birth control is called for on the part of the whacko liberals. I wonder if they'd mind if we did them the favor?
