Accessorize Your Concealed Carry

Accessories turn a few basic outfits into a smorgasbord of fashion, so why not do the same with your .380?
The National Rifle Association put on a concealed carry fashion show Friday night in Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Models displayed offerings from 30 companies who make purses and gun holsters designed for quick access

In perhaps the most American form of haute couture - the National Rifle Association put on a concealed carry fashion show.

From purses to gun holsters, attendees of the gun ownership and self-defense convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin were treated to what the NRA said was the first-ever show of its kind.
Models displayed offerings from roughly 30 companies on Friday night, such as Femme Fatale and Man-Pack, whose products include corset holders and shoulder bags designed for quick gun access.
Ahead of the event NRA spokesman Jason Brown said: 'It's going to be really, really interesting to see all of these different products up on stage and modeled by people.'

Amanda Suffecool conceptualized the fashion show and the NRA worked with her to host it at the NRA Carry Guard Expo.

This is the first time the NRA had hosted such an event.

Trump's 2A Position

Trump comes out with a very strong, supportive position on 2nd Amendment rights. From The Conservative Tribune:
“The Second Amendment to our Constitution is clear. The right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed upon. Period,” the position paper began.

Trump went on to explain that the right to keep and bear arms is a right that pre-exists both the government and the Constitution, noting that government didn’t create the right, nor can it take it away.

He also rightly denoted the Second Amendment as “America’s first freedom,” pointing out that it helps protect all of the other rights we hold dear.

In order to protect and defend that right, Trump proposed tougher enforcement of laws that are already on the books, rather than adding new gun control laws.
The complete position paper is here on his website.

Guns, Guns, Guns

Here's some reference sites:

Firearms laws of the world
In Europe, Serbia, Bosnia and Switzerland rule the roost. In Asia, Pakistan has the most liberal gun laws; most Asian counties have very strict gun laws or allow no guns at all except for military and police.

Firearm ownership of the world
USA - we're #1!!!
Thanks to the 2nd Amendment, Americans have 113 guns per 100 population (more guns than people) followed by Serbia (70), Yemen (55) and Switzerland (46). Switzerland counts military weapons kept at home by soldiers so they are really closer to 25.

Murder by firearms for the world
We're #18. The top five are Honduras, Venezuela, Swaziland, Jamaica, and Guatemala.

Largest US Cities Responsible for Two Thirds of Gun Homicides
Of course most of these cities are run by liberal Democrats in predominantly democrat controlled states. According to the FBI, in 2014 there were 14,249 homicides. If the 2/3 estimate holds true, about 9,500 took place where Democrats reign supreme and where gun control is the tightest.

Terrorist Advisory From Upstate New York

In light of the San Bernardino massacre, the Sheriff of Ulster County posted this advisory yesterday.

Of course liberals' heads are exploding all over the state.
December 3, 2015

ATTENTION LICENSED HANDGUN OWNERS

In light of recent events that have occurred in the United States and around the world I want to encourage citizens of Ulster County who are licensed to carry a firearm to PLEASE DO SO.

I urge you to responsibly take advantage of your legal right to carry a firearm. To ensure the safety of yourself and others, make sure you are comfortable and proficient with your weapon, and knowledgeable of the laws in New York State with regards to carrying a weapon and when it is legal to use it.

I also want to remind all Police/Peace Officers both active duty and retired to please carry a weapon whenever you leave your house. We are the thin blue line that is entrusted in keeping this country safe, and we must be prepared to act at any given moment.

Thank you,

Paul J. Van Blarcum
Ulster County Sheriff
Read some of the comments, you can almost taste the stupid.

Muslim Terrorists - What A Surprise

Now that Islamic terrorists have once again openly, savagely, wantonly and gleefully murdered American citizens on American soil, surely the media and government officials will leap into action to prevent any further slaughter of innocents. San Bernardino is the final wake up call announcing the true intentions of Islam- submission or else.

Guess again. It's "Never let a crisis go to waste" time.
Per the liberals, it's the fault of the NRA, gun nuts and Islamophobes.
CNN reports.

Do As I Say, Not As I Do

A US destroyer, the USS Lassen, passed within 12 miles of a Chinese artificial island in a disputed section of the South China Sea and the Chinese are squawking.
BEIJING/WASHINGTON (Reuters) – A U.S. guided-missile destroyer sailed close to one of China’s man-made islands in the South China Sea on Tuesday, drawing an angry rebuke from Beijing, which said it had tracked and warned the ship and called in the U.S. ambassador to protest.

The USS Lassen’s patrol was the most significant U.S. challenge yet to the 12-nautical-mile territorial limits China claims around artificial islands it has built up in the Spratly archipelago as Beijing exercises its growing maritime power.

Washington’s move followed months of deliberation by the administration of President Barack Obama and could ratchet up tension in one of the world’s busiest shipping lanes and increase strains in U.S.-China relations.

A U.S. defense official said the Lassen also went within 12-mile limits of features in the disputed sea claimed by Vietnam and U.S. treaty ally, the Philippines. They said such “freedom-of-navigation” patrols were expected to become more frequent.
According to international law (Article 60 of the 1982 U.N. Convention on the Law of the Sea) no nation can create an artificial island as national territory and impose a 12 mile limit around it.

Just six weeks ago five Chinese war ships violated the 12 mile limit to the Aleutian Islands near Alaska. One of these vessels, the Shenyang, is shown below.

According to US naval command, it was a legal exercise in "innocent passage" rights granted by international law.

Apparently the Chinese interpret international law in different ways depending on where the water is.

Trump's Position On 2A Rights

Presidential hopeful Donald Trump has issued a position paper on 2nd Amendment rights.
The Second Amendment to our Constitution is clear. The right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed upon. Period.
His position:
  • Put violent criminals away, use a gun to commit a crime and it's bye-bye
  • Screen applicants for mental health issues during background checks
  • Eliminate gun and ammo magazine bans, they don't make any difference
  • Make carry permits legal in all 50 states, just like a driver's license
  • Allow military personnel to carry weapons on base and in recruitment centers
Sounds good to me.

Repeal Rove

Republican strategist Karl Rove said on “Fox News Sunday” the only way to stop gun-related violence, like the Wednesday massacre at Emmanuel African Methodist Church in Charleston S.C., was to repeal American citizens’ Second Amendment rights.

Time to revisit the FBI 2013 Uniform Crime Report, Expanded Homicide Data Tables 14 and 15. These tables capture the number of felons killed while committing a felony- killed by police and private citizens. From 2009 through 2013 there was an average of 703 felons killed each year, 420 by police and 283 by private citizens. This mean that armed citizens are responsible for taking down 40% of violent felons in the US during the past five years.

Armed citizens do not have to quake in bedrooms waiting for some crazed individual to snuff them out. Who knows how many others were spared (mom's, children, innocent bystanders) because someone had the right and common sense to arm themselves.

For this same five year period the following is true:

1,427 felons were killed by citizens, 61% (862) used a handgun.
Annual  Average: 172
2,102 felons were killed by police, 77% (1,625) used a handgun.
Annual  Average: 325

These statistics do not include the use of other firearms such as rifles and shotguns.

People like Karl Rove want to see that end.
Karl Rove would like to see another 172 or perhaps even 200 innocent lives added to the nation's murders each year so that he can feel safe.

Welcome to the mainstream GOP's War on Guns.
They'll have the same success as the War on Poverty and the War on Drugs.
Idiots.

NY Legislature To Vote On Repeal Of The SAFE Act

New York State Republicans, at least some of them, are holding hostage the NYC rent control legislation that Gov. Andrew *spit* Cuomo really, really wants in order to repeal the unconstitutional SAFE Act passed in a shameful midnight session in January of 2013.

We need to get our act together to get the leg to pass this. Meanwhile, a 5-day extension was granted to protect renters from being evicted if the rent control law is not passed. This law affects 2 million renters in NYC. The SAFE Act diminishes the rights of 6 million gun owners. Who will get served?

A Judge's Gift

Good guy Judge Fred Scullin teaches the idiots running Washington, DC, what the Founding Fathers intended so many years ago. Unfortunately they weren't listening.
On May 28, Judge Frederick J. Scullin Jr. denied the District of Columbia’s request for an administrative state in the ruling against the “good reason” provision in DC’s concealed carry permitting process.

The “good reason” requirement forced residents applying for a concealed carry permit to demonstrate a justification for wanting to carry a gun. Breitbart News previously reported that Judge Scullin ruled against the requirement on May 18, saying it “impinges on Plaintiffs’ Second Amendment right to bear arms.”

The administrative stay would have extended the effective date for Scullin’s May 18 ruling, giving the city more time to evaluate options. The denial of this stay means DC must immediately begin issuing permits without a “good reason” requirement.

The Second Amendment Foundation (SAF) represented the plaintiffs in the case.

South Carolina Moves Towards Conceal Carry W/O A Permit

There are only a handful of states that allow the concealed carry of a handgun without requiring a permit. Many states have a "shall issue" stipulation but you still must apply for a permit.
On April 23, the South Carolina House took up a concealed carry reform bill containing an amendment rescinding the need for a concealed carry permit. The measure passed 90 to 18.

The bill–H. 3025–seeks to reform South Carolina reciprocity rules so that any concealed carry permit from any other state would be recognized as valid in The Palmetto State.

According to NRA-ILA, state Representative Mike Pitts (R-14) put forward an amendment to “establish a Permitless Carry standard for South Carolina, so that South Carolinians who are not prohibited from possessing a firearm would be able to carry one concealed without first obtaining a permit.”

Fans Call Tim McGraw "All Hat, No Cattle"

Country singer Tim McGraw showed his true liberal colors when he announced that he was donating the proceeds from a concert to an anti-2nd Amendment organization.

Labeled as "Walmart Cowboy," conservative country fans are abandoning the singer and vowing to stop buying and playing his music.

From Breitbart:
On Monday, CBS This Morning covered the fan outrage Tim McGraw is facing for committing to playing at a gun control fundraiser for Sandy Hook Promise on July 17.

Sandy Hook Promise currently supports SB 941, a bill to ban private gun sales in Oregon and broaden legalized gun confiscation in the state. In 2014, Sandy Hook Promise opposed a push to arm teachers for self-defense in Georgia classrooms, although the goal of arming teachers was to prevent a Sandy Hook-like attack from happening that state.

McGraw has responded to the outrage by assuring everyone that he is a gun owner and that he is playing the gun control fundraiser for “community,” not gun control.

But according to This Morning, McGraw’s “plans to donate all the proceeds from [the] upcoming concert in Connecticut to the group Sandy Hook Promise have hit a sour note.

Why Guns?

"And indeed, gentlemen, there exists a law, not written down anywhere but inborn in our hearts; a law which comes to us not by training or custom or reading but by derivation and absorption and adoption from nature itself; a law which has come to us not from theory but from practice, not by instruction but by natural intuition. I refer to the law which lays it down that, if our lives are endangered by plots or violence or armed robbers or enemies, any and every method of protecting ourselves is morally right."

Connecticut Gun Grabbers Stymied

I haven't been able to establish the veracity of this article and other gun news from CT is suspect. I'll keep trying to get confirmation if this story is true.

Perhaps over 80% of Connecticut gun owners refused to register their firearms under a new state law. The powers that be were planning to send thecops after them, until they found out that 68% of the cops in the state had also refused to comply.

When the cops tell you to kiss their ass it's time to listen.
Connecticut has been making news due to their hastily passed gun registration laws. According to some sources as few as 15% of gun owners have actually registered their firearms. News Blogs have been warning state officials are talking about mass confiscations of the unregistered firearms.

Plans for these confiscations hit a snag when a legislative intern dared to ask a question. “Who will be going door to door to take all the guns away?” asked the 21-year-old college senior.

Reportedly multiple people in the room in the most sarcastic voices they could muster said “the police”.

The unnamed intern then pointed at the list and said, “my dad’s name is on the list, and he is the police chief. I see three other names on this list of family members, all cops.”

Story here.

UPDATE: Still no conformation but nothing to say it isn't true either. Another story about 250 CT officers refusing to enforce the law is falling apart.
