'Red pill' has become a popular phrase among cyberculture and signifies a free-thinking attitude, and a waking up from a "normal" life of sloth and ignorance. Red pills prefer the truth, no matter how gritty and painful it may be.

Police Shoot Man With Cleaver

My daughter called home today all excited about an incident she ran into on her way home from work. A NYPD cop got hit in the head with a cleaver or something by some idiot. The cops shot him a buncha times. Cop and perp both in the hospital.

A Midtown cop was whacked in the head with a butcher knife during a harrowing rush hour scene just steps from Madison Square Garden on Thursday.

Cops were called to W. 32nd St. between Seventh Ave. and Broadway just before 5 p.m. when several people saw the suspect running with a butcher’s knife in his hand, according to witnesses and initial reports.

“He was running down the street waving it,” said an MTA worker, who wished not to be named. “The cops were chasing him.”

The phalanx of officers finally surrounded the man near Penn Station and told him to drop the weapon, but he refused.

“Drop it! Drop it!” the cops screamed repeatedly, according to witnesses.

When one of the cops tried to knock the blade from his hand, he struck the officer with it, leaving him with a deep gash.

Then all hell broke loose, the witness said.

“They shot him up,” the witness said. “He was hit five or six times. He was laid up on the sidewalk. It looked like he was dead.”

What If It Really Was His Name?

A Bronx man took his killer’s identity to the grave, using his last breath to curse out cops instead of giving up the name of his attacker.

Daniel Pena was attacked in the courtyard of a building on Decatur Avenue near Bedford Park Boulevard and stabbed at least twice in the chest around 7 p.m. Wednesday, cops said.

As rescuers tried to treat the 23-year-old, officers tried to get him to identify his attacker as he gasped for breath.

“As he took his dying breath, his last words to police were, ‘F–k you,’” a law enforcement source said.

I remember back in July of 1987 when the feds indicted ex-Syracuse Mayor Lee Alexander for bribery (actually 40 counts of extortion, income tax evasion, racketeering and conspiracy). It was a slow process up to that point but when it broke, it went fast. We had been angling for an investigation of this thieving slob for years and when it finally happened, we were ecstatic. Alexander spent nearly six years in a federal prison.

Now almost thirty years later, I imagine that NYPD cops are feeling the same way; there is a growing recognition, a tingly anticipation that Mayor de Blasio will eventually get fitted for bracelets and an orange jumpsuit. Again.

Well, that didn’t take long: Mayor de Blasio has now lawyered up in the ever-widening federal corruption probe by US Attorney Preet Bharara.

To be sure, attorney Barry Berke officially represents the mayor’s 2013 election campaign, and he was officially asked only to reach out to Bharara’s office and offer to help “in any way that we can.”

But it’s another sign that things may be getting increasingly uncomfortable for the folks at City Hall.

And that de Blasio is facing what every public official involved in such investigations dreads: the constant drip-drip-drip of slowly leaking disclosures.

This as the mayor was forced to amend his earlier attempt to downplay his ties to Juda Rechnitz and Jeremy Reichberg, the two civilians reportedly at the heart of a probe that also includes possible high-level NYPD corruption.

She's Now In Brooklyn

Yesterday my wife (Mummsie) and I moved our youngest daughter to the Bushwick section of Brooklyn. I haven't driven in lower Manhattan in decades (1980?) and haven't been in Brooklyn since I was a teen, about 55 years ago. Pieces of old memories kept drifting in and out of my mind making it hard to concentrate on the Garmin and my daughter's instructions from the back seat. I had forgotten what a PITA it is to drive in NYC.

The Mapquest instructions had me drive through Newark to get to Brooklyn. I could swear I saw Dante with a copy of his Inferno tucked under one arm begging for a hand out on one of the intersections. What a depressing city.

Still, driving through Jersey City and heading for the Holland Tunnel and seeing the Manhattan skyline is quite a site.  I don't see how the cops can get anywhere in Manhattan, what a traffic zoo. Lower Manhattan is quite narrow but it still took about twenty minutes to drive to the Manhattan Bridge  and cross over to Brooklyn. Got on the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway (much better traffic) and drove into Bushwick. Incredibly enough, we were able to find a parking space right in front of her building.

It was a glorious day in Brooklyn, a balmy fifty degrees. Her room is on the third floor - about the size of a big walk-in closet. She shares two bathrooms and a kitchen with four other people, all young professionals. It's not for me. For what she's paying I could almost rent a house in central NY. We were there for a few hours, said our good-byes and left.

Mummsie was rather depressed. We had just moved our youngest chick and now the hen house is empty. There were five females at one time here and now she's the only one. There are only faint echoes of the waves of estrogen that used to waft through our home.

The ride home was uneventful with just a touch of rain and snow. We got a call from our girl who was also feeling depressed and lonely. Mummsie bucked her up a bit.

Upon returning to Syracuse, I managed to catch the last twenty minutes of the Chiefs/Patriots game. I watched all but the last three minutes of the Packers/Cardinals game but couldn't keep my eyes open after all that driving. Kissed Mummsie good night and toddled off to bed.

Of course this morning she couldn't wait to tell me what a great ending I missed.

Rats.

Three people are now under quarantine and "disease detectives" are frantically seeking others who may have been infected whilst Doc Spencer spent a week wandering about NYC happily leaking ebola bugs and enjoying conjugal pleasures with his fiancee.

• The doctor was taken to hospital from his home in Harlem on October 23 after developing an 103F fever, diarrhea and nausea

• Spencer reported feeling sluggish on Tuesday but only developed a temperature on Thursday morning

• On Wednesday night, Dr Spencer, who had been self-monitoring his symptoms, went to a bowling alley in Brooklyn by subway and taxi

• His fiancee Morgan Dixon is being quarantined as a precaution at Bellevue Hospital; His two friends are in self-quarantine at home

• 'Disease detectives' have fanned out to trace the patients' contacts in order to identify anyone who may be at risk

• President Obama is offering federal support to New York as it responds to its first Ebola case

Once again the barn door is shut, but not locked, after the horses are gone. When will they finally start to quarantine everyone who enters the US after spending time in an African shithole?

New Yorkers Are Crazy

Mayor de Blasio got over 70% of the popular vote in the NYC mayoral election last year. It's like everyone lost their minds.

Now it's time for a reckoning. New Yorkers will be in for a few surprises when this wingnut and his handpicked assortment of leftists get down to business. And business won't like it either.

And what's with all his repeated legal name changes?

Bill de Blasio: the Left's Nutty Professor Transforming New York into a Giant Political Petri Dish

Bill de Blasio swept into office on a pledge to transform New York's 'tale of two cities' by ending income inequality, raising taxes on the evil 1%, doling out free or reduced-cost housing for poor and working-class residents, and establishing that all-important job-creating engine, pre-kindergarten education.

But just three weeks into his tenure as mayor of America's biggest city, the man born Warren Wilhelm in Manhattan 52 years ago has already raised hackles with his many detractors -- and even some of his staunchest supporters.

I would say here that New York deserves better .... but they don't. They elected him.

He has big plans, like requiring private companies to provide mandatory sick leave and forcing developers to build affordable housing, whether they like it or not. And his "universal" pre-K programme would be a nationwide first, taxing the rich to come up with the needed $500m.

To that end, De Blasio is taking a page from Obama, running campaign-style ads to press the policy, and blanketing the city with flyers. "For over 15 years, Albany has promised funding for these programmes - and rarely delivered," the flyers say. "It's time for a new plan."

This maniac must have a picture of Detroit pasted to his bathroom mirror, or Mayor Dinkins.

"With gridlock in Washington, cities are now the place to get things done," says Democratic strategist Mary Anne Marsh. "And there is no bigger stage than New York City. With de Blasio's overwhelming election mandate, if he can implement his proposals and keep the city running well, then that becomes the playbook every progressive will follow."

And as far as those name changes are concerned. This guy wasn't probably vetted (surprise!) by the media. I'd like to see what's going on behind all those names he had. He sounds like Obama.
