You can't say that the Chicago gangs don't try harder. They certainly don't rest on their laurels. As Chicago strides towards perhaps an all time record breaking year for mayhem, gangs are gearing up for the gold. These hard chargers are bringing semi-automatic rifles into play in the big event, free style homicide.

The first time 14-year-old Brisa Ramirez remembers hearing rifle fire was when a man was shot dead on a Sunday afternoon outside a Catholic church around the corner from her home in Back of the Yards.

She raises her voice to imitate the sharp, metallic bursts. Ta. Ta. Ta. Ta. Ta. It was a foreign sound even in this neighborhood accustomed to gunfire.

"It wasn't like a normal (shooting). … It was like something more terrible," Brisa says. "A noise that you can't really explain."

Soldiers know the different sounds when an AK-47 or an M16 is fired. It's something that a 14 year old inner city youth should never hear much less recognize.

The shooting was one of at least 33 in Back of the Yards and Brighton Park over the past nine months that police believe are tied to semi-automatic rifles as several gangs boost their firepower. At least 46 people have been shot in the attacks, 13 fatally.

Police say this is the only area of the city where rifles styled after AR-15s and AK-47s are regularly used, a menacing new development in the gang fights.

It's unclear how many of the high-powered rifles are on the street, but police suspect they are being passed around by members of four Hispanic gangs in the Deering police district, which covers parts of the South and Southwest sides.

Military grade rounds are much more powerful than a handgun. This upgrade in firepower presents an increased threat to innocent by standers as the round has much greater range and penetration. If this trend continues, expect to see a higher rate of fatalities and woundings of persons who simply are in the path of a stray round.

I have personally collected dozens of nine millimeter casings at the scene of a single shooting incident. If .30 caliber rounds were used instead, there's no telling how many people could have been shot.

Bullets fired from a US military style rifle have a muzzle velocity as high as 3000+ fps and can penetrate a window or wooden residential wall hundreds of yards from the actual scene of a shooting. While handgun rounds vary greatly, suffice it to say that a projectile fired from one of these rifles has at least twice the range and lethality of a handgun.

A 5.56 mm round fired from an AR-15 (civilian version of the M-16) can travel about 4,000 yards but has an effective range of perhaps 400+ yards. The AK-47 fires a 7.62 X 39 mm cartridge that employs a heavier bullet (122 gr versus 55 or 62 gr for the M-16) and a muzzle velocity of  2300+ fps. But like all weapons, lethality is determined by the person holding the firearm.

And these maniacs are using weapons like this in a densely populated urban setting.

43 Shot, 11 Fatally, In Christmas Weekend Shootings In Chicago

CHICAGO (CBS) — The three-day Christmas weekend in Chicago has already become more violent than it was during the entire holiday weekend last year.

Eleven men were killed and at least 32 others have been wounded in shootings across the city since Friday evening, according to Chicago Police.

Last year, a total of 30 people were shot in Chicago over the four-day holiday weekend, leaving six dead.

Sweet Home Chicago

Chicago already has 755 murders this year. that's over two per day. It is time for the US Marines to invade Chicago and bring safety, tranquility and democracy to a troubled population. Of course the Marines are only needed in the black neighborhoods. Is that a racist thing to say? My goodness...

According to The Washington Post, the Brennan Center of Justice expects “the homicide rate for the country’s 30 biggest cities… to go up by 14 percent this year.” But that increase does not tell the whole story; namely, that “the killings in Chicago account for an astounding 43.7 percent of this overall increase in [homicides].”

In other words, if year-end numbers do in fact show the anticipated “14 percent” jump in homicides nationally, the deaths in Chicago alone will account for nearly half of that increase.

And ChiTown is not the only American city ripe for invasion.

Baltimore has witnessed approximately 299 homicides year-to-date, and Washington D.C. has witnessed approximately 128. When combined with Chicago, the death numbers in these three Democrat-run, highly gun-controlled cities account for well over 50 percent of the murder spike that will be credited to America’s 30 largest cities.

If that 14% spike in murders does occur, that means there will be an additional 1,900 murders this year (as 14% of 13,455 murders in 2015 is 1,887).

I can only imagine what the black murder stats are when the FBI's Uniform Crime Report for 2016 is published a year from now. Notwithstanding what Democratic politicians and #BlackLivesMatter idiots are screaming, black off each other at a frightening rate.

In 2015, there were 3,167 white murder victims and 2,664 black victims where the suspect is known.
Of the white victims,, 500 (15.7%) were killed by blacks and 2,574 (81.2%) by whites.
Of the black victims, 229 (8.5%) were killed by whites and 2,380 (89.3%) by blacks.

Black on white murder is almost twice the rate as white on black murder and blacks make up only 13.2% of the US population.
So much for #BlackLivesMatter.

Is This What It Takes?

For the last thirteen years I have participated in a task force to reduce violent crime in upstate NY.  Right now we are experiencing the most virulent amount of shootings I have ever seen in my almost 45 years in law enforcement.

Nothing is working; all our focused deterrence, AKA lever pulling strategies that we implemented (as espoused by by Dr. Kennedy and demonstrated in the Boston Cease Fire model) seem to have had no effect. One particularly violent area of the city has already had a 170% increase in shootings since another OJJDP (Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention) model anti-violence program started two years ago.

But what seems to work is this:

Shootings down by half during snowy weekend in Chicago

Fifteen people were shot in Chicago over the weekend, less than half of last weekend’s toll and the fewest in the city in months.

Still, Chicago is on pace this year for the most homicides since at least 1998, when the police department said there were 704 homicides.

The number of people shot is also the most in decades: At least 4,170 people so far this year. With less than three weeks left in the year, that marks a 40 percent increase over the total number of shootings in 2015, according to Tribune data.

Forget the social workers, violence intervention specialists and all that other liberal crap. Seed the clouds, and bring the cold. Let them fear the Grim Ice Maker. Unleash the fury of Lake Michigan. Let's see if they can still kill one another through ski-bys.

I'm going to retire in a few months. I won't miss this at all. The nuclear black family has been all but destroyed in our inner cities. Black children have expressed strong identification with gangs as early as the second grade, more so than with members of their own families.

This will not get better by throwing money at it. We need parents who love their children more than themselves.

CHICAGO (CBS) — Even as President-elect Donald Trump vows to immediately deport 2 to 3 million undocumented immigrants when he takes office in January, Mayor Rahm Emanuel is reaffirming Chicago’s commitment as a so-called “sanctuary city.”

“To be clear about what Chicago is, it always will be a sanctuary city,” the mayor said Monday.

Emanuel sought to reassure those worried about Trump’s interview on “60 Minutes,” in which he said he plans to immediately deport or incarcerate up to 3 million undocumented immigrants who have criminal records.

Nearly 100 people have been shot in Chicago in less than a week, pushing the number of shooting victims so far this year to more than 2,500 — about 800 more than this time last year, according to data kept by the Tribune.

Between last Friday afternoon and early Thursday, at least 99 people were shot in the city, 24 of them fatally. At least nine people were killed on Monday alone, the deadliest day in Chicago in 13 years, according to Tribune data. Among the wounded that day was a 10-year-old boy shot in the back as he played on his front porch in Lawndale.

The number of shooting victims in Chicago stood at 2,514 Thursday morning. At this time last year, 1,725 people had been shot. The city has not seen this level of gun violence since the 1990s, a trend the Police Department has blamed on lax gun laws and feuding gang factions.

Another holiday brought another slaughter of innocents in heavily gun-controlled Chicago. Fifty-six people were shot during Father’s Day weekend, and 13 of those shooting victims died.

According to the Chicago Tribune, “The city recorded its 300th homicide this weekend and went on to record six others over a 60-hour period that saw 56 people shot, 13 fatally, from Friday afternoon through early Monday morning.” From Friday into Saturday alone, five people were killed and another nine were wounded.

So far this year about 1800 people have been shot in Chicago. This in spite of...

Chicago has an “assault weapons” ban, a “violence tax,” and stringent limits on the number of gun stores allow, as well as limits on the locations of those stores.

I think Chicago also has a "know your daddy" ban.

"Sweet Home Chicago" was first recorded back in 1936 long before its residents started killing each other in wanton fashion.

CHICAGO — Murders in the nation's third-largest city are up about 72%, while shootings have surged more than 88% in the first three months of 2016 compared with the same period last year, according to data released Friday by the Chicago Police Department.

Police said the disturbing rise in violence is driven by gangs and mostly contained to a handful of pockets on the city's South and West sides.

[...]The city has seen 141 murders this year, compared with 82 murders at the same point last year. Police reported 677 shootings this year compared with 359 at the same point last year.

The grim rise in violence comes after the Chicago Police Department reported 468 murders in 2015, a 12.5% increase from the year before. There were 2,900 shootings in 2015, 13% more than the year before, according to Police Department records.

Of course this disturbing statistic is visited upon a city where gun control is still Mayor Emanuel's preferred crime control measure.

Chicago records 51 homicides in January, highest toll since 2000

CHICAGO — The nation's third largest city recorded 51 homicides in January, the highest toll for the month since at least 2000.

Gang conflicts and retaliatory violence drove the "unacceptable" increase in homicides, the police department said in a statement. But the rise in violence also notably comes as the Chicago Police Department faces increased scrutiny following the court-ordered release of a police video showing a white police officer fatally shooting a black teenager 16 times, and as the department implements changes in how it monitors street stops by officers.

Chicago routinely records more homicides annually than any other American city, but the grim January violence toll marks a shocking spike in violence in a city that recorded 29 murders for the month of January last year and 20 murders for the month in 2014. In addition to the jump in killings, police department said that it recorded 241 shooting incidents for the month, more than double the 119 incidents recorded last January.

MIAMI -- While U.S. and Latin American officials say that Venezuela’s political crisis should be solved through upcoming legislative elections, recent testimony before the U.S. Senate raised many questions: It said Venezuela’s voting registry includes the names of so many dead, many states have more registered voters than people.

In March 17 testimony to the U.S. Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, Russ Dallen, editor in chief of the Caracas-based Latin American Herald Tribune, said Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro’s government is overseeing a voting process that almost guarantees electoral fraud in the legislative elections tentatively scheduled for September.

In the CIA Factbook, Venezuela has about 28,870,000 people of whom 20 to 21 million (about 73%) are of voting age .... maybe.

In the US, it is estimated that in 2014 there where 245,700,000 eligible voters. This is 76% of our population of 322,580,000. So the numbers of eligible voters are not far off, but the registration of said voters might be. There is no measure of the percentage of eligible US voters casting ballots in the 2014 elections because 14 states have not bothered to submit this information, or refuse to, or can't.

Venezuela’s voting registry has been manipulated by the Venezuelan and Cuban regimes since late Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez contracted Cuban companies to run Venezuela’s passport and identification agencies.

In 2003, when Venezuela’s opposition launched a campaign for a referendum to revoke Chavez’s term, Venezuela had 11.9 million registered voters. Chavez managed to delay the vote for a year and a half, which gave him time to add more than two million voters, and by 2004 Venezuela had 14 million registered voters, Dallen said.

Angered by his defeat in a 2007 referendum to change the constitution and allow him to run indefinitely, Chavez once again ramped up registration of names, and added several million new registered voters. By the time of the 2013 elections, which the government-controlled National Electoral Commission awarded to Maduro by 1.5 percent of the vote, the registry had 18.9 million eligible voters.

“So, the voting registry increased by almost 60 percent in 10 years. Quite a population boom!,” Dallen said in his prepared testimony.

Prosecutors said Saturday that one of the men charged in the Aug. 20 slaying of a 9-year-old Chicago boy had this reaction when he hopped into a getaway car: "I just hit a shorty. I just hit a shorty."

The "shorty" was Antonio Smith, the youngest gun violence fatality in the city this year. Smith suffered multiple gunshot wounds in the shooting about 4 p.m. in the 1200 block of East 71st Street in the Grand Crossing neighborhood on the South Side and died later that day.

And of course the usual pack of idiots (this time it's the police superintendent) blame the murders on the availability of guns in a jurisdiction that makes it a point to prohibit the possession of firearms.

Carbon Induced Murder

Apparently the democrats in Chicago are using the same tactics to reduce welfare payments that the Obama administration uses to reduce the cost of veterans' benefits.

CHICAGO - Police are dealing with the fallout from some unexpected fireworks over the past few days in Chicago. Eighty-two people were shot, 14 of them fatally, over the long Fourth of July weekend, according to the Chicago Tribune. The string of incidents kicked off in the afternoon on Thursday.

Obviously I was just kidding when I suggested that democrats want to reduce rampaging, out of control welfare costs or any other social spending programs. They'll blame this on global warming and demand that we all ride bicycles to work.

But, oh dear, it looks like that train has left the station. From Climate Depot:

Ecologist Dr. Patrick Moore, co-founder of Greenpeace, warned “I fear a global cooling,” during his keynote address to the Ninth International Conference on Climate Change in Las Vegas on Tuesday. Moore, who left Greenpeace in 1986 because he felt it had become too radical, is the author of “Confessions of a Greenpeace Dropout: The Making of a Sensible Environmentalist.”

Moore noted that a cooling would adversely impact agriculture, and said: “Let’s hope for a little warming as opposed to a little cooling. I would rather it got a little warmer.”

Moore noted that “the U.S. is currently been cooling” and noted that there has been “no global warming for nearly 18 years.” He also mocked the notion that “everything is due to global warming.”

The liberals will have to search elsewhere for that all encompassing panacea.

I suggest lima beans. Lima beans are causing all the gun violence and other woes in America. I simply detest lima beans. We must ban lima beans now! Or, at the very least, all lima bean eaters must register with the government and wait at least three days before applying for a lima bean license! Mandatory jail time for anyone convicted of Criminal Possession of Succotash!

For the first time in Illinois, attorneys on the case say, a judicial disciplinary panel has begun tackling the question of whether a judge whose psychotic episodes can apparently be controlled through medication should be allowed to return to the bench.

Judge Cynthia Brim, 55, testified before the Illinois Courts Commission for more than two hours on Friday in a bid to save her $182,000-a-year job. The seven-member panel – made up of judges from outside of Cook County as well as two citizens – will later issue a written decision.

Brim was found not guilty of misdemeanor battery by reason of insanity last year for shoving a sheriff’s deputy outside the Daley Center during a manic episode in March 2012. A day earlier, while on the bench, she broke into an extended rant while presiding over a traffic court call at the Markham courthouse.

Swine flu will kill the entire U.S. population of senior citizens this year, hospitalize 2.9 billion patients worldwide and lead to as many as 89,000,000 deaths in nations without universal health care, a worse disaster than the infamous Black Plague, White House advisers said.

In a report by the President’s Council of Advisers on Science and Technology, President Barack Obama today was urged to speed passage of his health care reform and name a senior member of the White House staff to the position of Pandemic Czar. Legislation must be passed by mid-September to allow for the vaccination of as many as 40 gazillion people, the advisory group said.

Seasonal flu usually kills about 36,000 Americans, said Ezekial Emanuel, a spokesman for the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Swine flu, also called H1N1, causes more rampant casualties among old people than seasonal flu, while leaving people 65 and older doomed to slow and painful deaths, said Mike Hunt of the CDC.

“This isn’t the flu that we’re used to,” said Kathleen Sebelius, U.S. Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services. “The 2009 H1N1 virus will kill just about everyone this fall. We won’t know until we’re in the middle of the flu season whether any of our Baby Boomers will survive, but because it’s a new strain, it’s likely to kill oodles of oldsters.”

“We are making every preparation effort assuming that Public Option health care will be available in mid-October,” Sebelius said today at the CDC’s Atlanta offices.

According to what the advisory report describes as a “plausible scenario,” 99 percent to 100 percent of the country’s senior population will be infected in the fall and winter.
