When The Police De-Police

The guys in patrol react in several ways to perceived threats and injustices. One of the favorites was to to stop writing parking tickets which was a major source of revenue for the city. The citizenry was not endangered as the overwhelming majority of illegally parked cars do not represent a threat to public safety. Our commanders might thunder but since everyone was doing it they could not single anyone out for retribution. However what is transpiring now is completely different; it's on a whole new level and it is not going to be quickly addressed.

EXCLUSIVE: FBI report finds officers ‘de-policing’ as anti-cop hostility becomes ‘new norm’

An unclassified FBI study on last year’s cop-killing spree found officers are “de-policing” amid concerns that anti-police defiance fueled in part by movements like Black Lives Matter has become the “new norm.”

“Departments — and individual officers — have increasingly made the decision to stop engaging in proactive policing,” said the report by the FBI Office of Partner Engagement obtained by The Washington Times.

The report, “Assailant Study — Mindsets and Behaviors,” said that the social-justice movement sparked by the 2014 death of 18-year-old Michael Brown at the hands of an officer in Ferguson, Missouri, “made it socially acceptable to challenge and discredit the actions of law enforcement.”
FBI spokesman Matthew Bertron said the study was written in April.

“Nearly every police official interviewed agreed that for the first time, law enforcement not only felt that their national political leaders [publicly] stood against them, but also that the politicians’ words and actions signified that disrespect to law enforcement was acceptable in the aftermath of the Brown shooting,” the study said.

There are several of my readers who understand completely what is going on. You guys know who you are. This is a major sea change that will drive crime rates up. All crime rates will go up, not just homicides, as police officers take a few steps back.

This is no longer your grandfather's America where a healthy dollop of respect for authority and accountability was infused into young people. That is gone, particularly in minority communities. Generations of haphazard child-rearing have seen to that as fathers fled the families as government moved in. In many minority communities - yes, black neighborhoods - police are mistrusted. Cooperation with authorities is stymied by prideful attitudes like "stitches for snitches" that stop investigations dead in their tracks. People do get away with murder.

Police officers are subject to violence, but that has always been the case. Look at the following chart that depicts police officers killed in the line of duty for the past 51 years. A total of 9,313 officers lost their lives, an average of 183 per year.

Look at the spike in  officer deaths that started with the 1967 race riots. That didn't begin to calm down until the mid 70's. Interestingly, cops started wearing Kevlar vests about that time too. The spike in 2001 is self evident. But there was still a downward trend until the tail end of the chart. The lowest point is 2013 (the lowest number of officer deaths in 50 years), the year before the events in Ferguson.

Of course not all of these officers were murdered.
In the last ten years 1,511 officers were killed. The most common causes of death were:

• 612 (41%) officers were killed in automobile, aircraft and boat accidents
• 553 (37%) officers were murdered
• 270 (18%) officers died from illness - deaths from 9/11 diseases were not listed.

But in the last four years - since the 2014 riots in Ferguson and the subsequent attacks of Obama's Justice Department -  the number of officers murdered (shot, stabbed, beaten and strangled) has almost doubled; a 92% increase from 36 to 69  and the number of officers murdered in the past year (2016 vs 2015) has jumped 57%, from 44 to 69. Only eight of these 201 murders did not involve a firearm; the number of police shot to death since Ferguson has increased 94%.

Cincinnati Shows England How It's Done

One person has died and multiple victims have been shot after police say two gunmen opened fire on revelers inside of a Cincinnati nightclub.

Authorities are searching for the two shooters who fled the scene after the incident that happened around 1am at Cameo Club on Kellogg Avenue in the city.

At least 15 people were taken to nearby hospitals after being struck by stray gunfire inside the venue.

Capt. Kim Williams said there was 'just a lot of chaos, obviously, when shots were fired.

'Saturday night, it is a very young crowd. We have had incidents here in the past, but this is by far the worst.'

Two illegal immigrant members of the ruthless MS-13 gang were arrested in Texas this week and charged with killing a woman as part of a Satanic ritual, according to reports.

The El Salvadoran suspects, Diego Rivera and Miguel Alvarez-Flores, allegedly killed a woman they were holding hostage in an apartment when she spoke out against the group’s devil worship, ABC 13 reported.

After the woman, known only as “Genesis,” made the comments, Alvarez-Flores — the group’s ringleader — attempted to give a lit cigarette to a Satanic statue as an offering.

But he said Satan wasn’t having the offering, telling his fellow gangbangers that “the Beast” wanted a soul instead, the station reported.

[...]Rivera shot Genesis once in the head on the side of the road before Alvarez-Flores blasted her in the chest, the station reported.

Nearly 100 people have been shot in Chicago in less than a week, pushing the number of shooting victims so far this year to more than 2,500 — about 800 more than this time last year, according to data kept by the Tribune.

Between last Friday afternoon and early Thursday, at least 99 people were shot in the city, 24 of them fatally. At least nine people were killed on Monday alone, the deadliest day in Chicago in 13 years, according to Tribune data. Among the wounded that day was a 10-year-old boy shot in the back as he played on his front porch in Lawndale.

The number of shooting victims in Chicago stood at 2,514 Thursday morning. At this time last year, 1,725 people had been shot. The city has not seen this level of gun violence since the 1990s, a trend the Police Department has blamed on lax gun laws and feuding gang factions.

Chicago records 51 homicides in January, highest toll since 2000

CHICAGO — The nation's third largest city recorded 51 homicides in January, the highest toll for the month since at least 2000.

Gang conflicts and retaliatory violence drove the "unacceptable" increase in homicides, the police department said in a statement. But the rise in violence also notably comes as the Chicago Police Department faces increased scrutiny following the court-ordered release of a police video showing a white police officer fatally shooting a black teenager 16 times, and as the department implements changes in how it monitors street stops by officers.

Chicago routinely records more homicides annually than any other American city, but the grim January violence toll marks a shocking spike in violence in a city that recorded 29 murders for the month of January last year and 20 murders for the month in 2014. In addition to the jump in killings, police department said that it recorded 241 shooting incidents for the month, more than double the 119 incidents recorded last January.

Kansas City Murder

A pair of eight graders stabbed a disabled mother to death as she was cleaning her car then propped her body up in the driver's seat before going for a joyride, police say.

The suspected killers, aged just 13 and 14, are accused of brutally stabbing mother-of-one Tanya Chamberlain, 43, to death with a pocket knife in the early hours of November 1 in Kansas City.

The teens, one of whom is a Boy Scout, then allegedly put her body into the passenger seat with her feet propped up on the dashboard before taking her car on a joyride.

According to KCTV5 Chamberlain was disabled because of a 'medical illness', though the station did not give any more details.

Looking at the 2013 murder victimization rates extrapolated from the FBI UCR Expanded Homicide Data Table 6:

1.  The murder rate for blacks is five times greater than that for whites. For whites is 1.2 per 100,000 while that of blacks is 6.0. 
2. The rate for black on white homicides (13.6% of whites murdered in 2013 were killed by blacks) is almost double that of white on black (7.6%). This is for only those murders where the race of the offender is known to the police.

As blacks comprise only 13% of the US population (roughly 41.2 million), these numbers are truly astounding. It gets worse as you drill down into the criminal activity of black youths.

A 2012 study by the Department of Justice’s Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention revealed that in 2010 black youths committed six times more murders, three times more rapes, 10 times more robberies and three times more assaults than did their white counterparts.

Similar statistics were released by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in the “Uniform Crime Reports.” They determined, “In the year 2008, black youths, who make up 16% of the youth population, accounted for 52% of juvenile violent crime arrests, including 58% for homicide and 67% for robbery.” By contrast, the only categories where white youths surpassed blacks were in liquor law violations and driving under the influence.

Baltimore - one of the bloodiest months ever: 45 murders in 31 days.

[...]The last time 45 people were killed in one month was in August 1972, when the city had about 275,000 more residents.

The deaths occurred across the city, overwhelmingly in historically impoverished neighborhoods. All but one of the victims were male, all but two of them black. Many had serious criminal records. The victims also included a 5-month-old boy and a 53-year-old grandmother, a teen stabbed to death in a dispute over a cell phone and a carryout deliveryman killed in a robbery.

And the attacks on police officers continues. Another officer was murdered, this time in Texas as he gassed up his patrol car. Some racist fiend came up behind Deputy Goforth and shot him 15 times in the head and back.

The alleged gunman who murdered a Texas deputy unleashed 15 shots at close range, emptying the entire magazine of his .40 caliber pistol and another bullet loaded in the chamber as he stood over the dead cop, according to Harris County District Attorney Devon Anderson.

Shannon J. Miles, 30, was arraigned for capital murder on Monday morning in the Friday shooting of Deputy Darren Goforth, 47.

And Obama and his race pimp cohorts started this ball rolling. In response, all he can do is rename a mountain.

Crisis In Government: Server Poaching

 It is obvious to all by now that being an email server in the federal government is as dangerous as being a lion in Zimbabwe. The poaching of US government email servers is reaching epidemic proportions.

To combat this alarming trend, a federal judge has issued an order forcing Hillary Clinton and two of her most trusted aides to explain their use of an illegal State Department email server and all pertinent documents in their possession.

Unfortunately Clinton's server has already been killed, meeting the same fate as an IRS server used by Lois Lerner.

[...]The order came in a FOIA lawsuit by Judicial Watch that was re-opened by Judge Sullivan in June after Clinton’s circumvention of the FOIA laws was revealed when news broke of her use of the private server.

(1) identify any and all servers, accounts, hard drives, or other devices currently in the possession or control of the State Department or otherwise that may contain responsive information;

If all such information has not yet been produced, the Government shall request the above named individuals produce the information forthwith;

Car Jacking Or Car Hacking?

The more I read about new cars, the more I want wheels that were manufactured pre-1973; full bore Luddite, EMP resistant, hack-proof, analog vehicles.

Like everyone else, Chrysler uses software in its on-board entertainment package. But this one can be accessed over the internet. Two hackers put it to the test...

[...]The result of their work was a hacking technique—what the security industry calls a zero-day exploit—that can target Jeep Cherokees and give the attacker wireless control, via the Internet, to any of thousands of vehicles. Their code is an automaker’s nightmare: software that lets hackers send commands through the Jeep’s entertainment system to its dashboard functions, steering, brakes, and transmission, all from a laptop that may be across the country.

The hackers were only ten miles away when they took control of the vehicle, but distance is not a factor.

Chrysler's UConnect system uses Sprint's cellular network for connectivity, so researchers were able to remotely locate cars by scanning for devices using that particular spectrum band. Chrysler has been including UConnect in cars since late 2013, and any cars that use the system are likely to be vulnerable to the attack. There's no apparent firewall, so once attackers have located the device's IP, they can deploy previously developed exploits to rewrite Uconnect's firmware and control the car as if they had physical access.

Thugg Cuomo Backs Off AmmoScam

It didn't work with the so called NY State Police "Gun DNA" program and it ain't gonna work any better with background checks of sales of pistol and rifle ammunition. All it will do is create a highly lucrative black market in NYS for felons to obtain pistol ammo.

New York's highest elected Thugg just got shot down by state Republicans.

ALBANY – Gov. Cuomo is backing off a key element of his much-heralded gun-control law of 2013, the NY SAFE Act.

In a major concession to Senate Republicans and new Senate Majority Leader John Flanagan (photo), the Cuomo administration has agreed to suspend development of a troubled statewide database of ammunition sales. The agreement also gives Flanagan a veto over the database’s future development.

“This is a clear victory for Second Amendment rights in New York,” said Sen. James Seward (R-Oneonta). The NRA, in a statement, also applauded the moveas a way “to restore a degree of sanity after the SAFE Act’s over-the-top demonization of lawful New York gun owners.”

Conceived as a way to track ammunition sales and provide for background checks of purchasers, the database has been a technical headache.

Idiots in NYS have tried a variety of gun control measures that do not work. In 1999  under Gov. Patacki, NYS initiated the CoBIS program which required firearm manufacturers to fire a test round through every handgun sold to NYS dealers and send the casing to the NY State Police lab. Tens of millions were spent in this ill-conceived, ill-advised program which did not save a single life or prevent a single crime. The program was budgeted at $4 million/year and it ran for eleven years.

The Baltimore Chief Of Police Goes Mayberry RFD

It is a well established axiom that a man will say and do just about anything in order to keep a good paying job. The Baltimore Chief of Police, whose salary is $190,000, has brought this to a new level.

Right when Baltimore's murder rate is going through the ceiling and the morale of the police is dropping through the basement,  Chief Batts drops this gem:

“Our reform efforts will very likely see more police officers arrested,” Batts wrote. “We will have more officers who are forced out because their outdated, outmoded views of policing do not match the standards the community expects and demands.”

This is my prediction, many of Baltimore's best, brightest and bravest will be looking for other jobs, or they will use defensive policing tactics - the CYA patrol manual - with a vengeance. Baltimore wants a kinder, gentler police department? Stay tuned.

The NYPD proved that aggressive policing is what drops the crime rate, not touchy-feely community relations. The problem may perhaps be the standards of some officers, but the troubled Baltimore minority community has no standards. Sure, the community leaders and do-gooders come out and dance for the cameras, but when they're gone and the police are no where to be found, that's when the real community standards take over. And we've seen what those are in Baltimore and Ferguson.

Dallas Police Headquarters Attacked

The Obama administration's race baiting and faux black victim worship is working as planned. People are going after cops in a fashion unseen in almost 50 years. They have spawned a new generation of imitation Black Panther/Weatherman terrorists.

The Dallas police headquarters was just attacked with automatic weapons and IEDs. Incredibly, no officers were killed or injured. There is no word on the racial profile of the suspects, but the atmosphere to encourage this type of violence has been carefully prepared by those who wish to destroy this nation from within.

DALLAS (AP) -- Multiple gunmen toting automatic weapons opened fire on officers outside Dallas Police headquarters early Saturday morning, before one man fled the scene being chased by police in what witnesses described as an armored van, according to Dallas Police Chief David Brown.

[..]Brown said, based on witness accounts, as many as four suspects may have been involved in the original shooting, including some who may have been strategically positioned at elevated positions. Police could not immediately confirm how many shooters were involved and where any additional suspects may be located.

With the heightened threat awareness, there's going to be some twitchy police trigger fingers out there. Every cop I run into and have a chat with, when we part it's always -"keep your head down" or "be careful brother."

I just hope and pray that nothing happens to escalate the situation. The race pimps are primed to take advantage of every questionable police action and Obama's racist DoJ is ready to support them. And if there are no police incidents, they'll make one up. Like the liberals say, a crisis is a terrible thing to waste; now is not the time to turn down the heat while the pot is boiling.

Finally, A Credit Card Fraud Ebola?

About a year and a half ago our credit card number was hacked from a department store where I had just purchased a Christmas gift for my wife. Over $5k in electronics was charged to my account; mostly charges to California-based internet sites. Like millions of other card holders, insurance covered this theft. We reported this to the police and to our credit union and never heard another thing about it.

The security officer at the credit union told us that in North America we do not use credit cards that utilize microchip technology to minimize theft, as in Europe, but that it was finally coming to the US. Until then we would be stuck with the old magnetic strip technology that the Russians love to break.

"If you look at the quantity of malware attacks, the leaders are China, Latin America and then Eastern Europe, but in terms of quality then Russia is probably the leader," said Vitaly Kamluk, a cyber security researcher in Moscow.

Two of the five most wanted men in the United States for cyber crime are Russian, and one is from Latvia, which used to be part of the Soviet Union.

Russians were also behind the biggest cyber crime case in U.S. history. Federal prosecutors named four Russians and a Ukrainian in a banking card fraud spree that cost companies including J.C. Penney Co, JetBlue Airways Corp and French retailer Carrefour SA more than $300 million.

We just got our first cards with this technology in the mail yesterday. It should serve to reduce credit card fraud.

The technology is not totally bulletproof (paywall) and other problems exist that lead to credit card fraud. But it’s pretty telling that the adoption of EMV chip-and-pin technology in the UK, which began all the way back in 2003, has led to a 70% reduction in counterfeit fraud in the UK over the past decade, according to Barclays.

There is more security technology on the way.

A team of researchers led by Dr Roderick Davidson II of Vanderbilt University has created nano-spirals with unique optical properties that would be almost impossible to counterfeit if they were added to credit cards and other important objects.

Most other investigators who have studied the remarkable properties of microscopic spirals have done so by arranging discrete nanoparticles in a spiral pattern: similar to spirals drawn with a series of dots of ink on a piece of paper.

By contrast, the nano-spirals created by Dr Davidson and co-authors have solid arms and are much smaller: a square array with 100 nano-spirals on a side is less than 0.01 mm wide.

“They are certainly smaller than any of the spirals we’ve found reported in the scientific literature,” said Dr Davidson, first author of the paper reporting the results in the journal Nanophotonics.

When these spirals are shrunk to sizes smaller than the wavelength of visible light, they develop unusual optical properties.

When exposed to different kinds of light, the nanoparticles generate unique patterns that can be used for identification purposes.

“The combination of the unique characteristics of their frequency doubling and response to polarized light provide the nano-spirals with a unique, customizable sign.

Like everything else, what was created by man can be defeated by man. Especially if there is a buck to be made ... or stolen.

Things Not To Do In Detroit

Like everything else, it helps to know where not to be at certain times.

No getting around it: Filling up your gas tank at certain stations in Detroit can be hazardous to your health.

Police Chief James Craig said at a Tuesday media conference that he’d avoid getting gas late at night in the city unless he had to, and he urged residents to be careful at the pump, according to Tom Greenwood of The Detroit News.

“I wouldn’t, but if I had to, I would,” Craig said. “But I’d probably be very aware of my surroundings.”

Craig’s commented after a driver was killed early Monday evening while trying to flee a carjackihg attempt at an east-side gas station.

Poor guy. Instead of Green Stamps, he should have received body armor.

NYC had a good thing going with its anti-crime sauce that another Italian Mayor, Rudy Giuliani, whipped up in the NYPD kitchen. The gangbangers and violent criminals didn't like it but the good citizens of the Big Apple enjoyed it's savory flavor for several decades.

Mayor de Blasio and his merry band of insane liberals had to go and screw it up. That's what happens when amateurs get in the kitchen.

Nice going idiots, you ruined it up for everyone. You're bound and determined to turn every American city into Detroit.

MASSIVE UPTICK IN NYC SHOOTINGS

In just the past week, shootings increased 66 percent, with 40 occurring between last Monday and this past Sunday, the sources said. By comparison, there were 24 shootings during the same week in 2014.

The number of shooting victims also rose 76 percent during that time period, with 44 people injured by gunfire compared to 25 for the same period last year.

Shootings are up for the month as well, jumping 33 percent, to 128 incidents, in the past 28 days, sources said. Last year, there were 96 shootings for the same period.

More victims took bullets, too. In the past 28 days, there were 106 shooting victims compared to the 85 at this time last year — a jump of 25 percent.

Why I Pulled Out Of The Markets

A British man helped to trigger a £500bn US stock market crash by manipulating financial markets on a massive scale from a suburban London semi, US prosecutors have claimed. 

Navinder Singh Sarao, 37, is accused of fraudulently making £27 million by using computer programmes to create fake trades on markets linked to the Chicago Mercantile Exchange.

US investigators say he was a major contributory factor to the so-called “Flash Crash” of May 6, 2010, when hundreds of billions of dollars was wiped off the value of the Dow Jones Industrial Average in just five minutes. 

[...]He has been charged with one count of wire fraud, 10 counts of commodities fraud, 10 counts of commodities manipulation, and one count of “spoofing,” a practice of bidding or offering with the intent to cancel the bid or offer before execution.

The DoJ's investigation was led by the Federal Bureau of Investigations, which looked at his activities between June 2009 and April 2014, but in particular focused on his trading around the 'flash crash' in May 2010. 

It is alleged that Mr Sarao "engaged in a massive effort to maniplute" the price of the E-mini S&P 500, one of the most popular financial futures markets which is based on the S&P 500 index which includes household names such as Amazon, Boeing and Bank of America.

Not In ... Where?

DETROIT — An Ann Arbor Catholic priest has urged his parishioners to arm themselves and attend classes at Christ the King parish to earn a concealed pistol license (CPL).
In a letter sent to Christ the King parishioners recently, the Rev. Edward Fride explained why he believed it was necessary to get concealed pistol licenses because of recent crime in the area. During a Palm Sunday Mass last month, Fride announced that the parish would be holding the CPL class. 

When some parishioners questioned the decision, Fride sent out a pro-gun letter titled "We're not in Mayberry Anymore, Toto" — a reference to the 1960s-era Andy Griffith Show and its portrayal of a fictional North Carolina town, as well as Dorothy's dog from The Wizard of Oz. 

"It is very common for Christians to simply assume that they live in Mayberry, trusting that because they know the Lord Jesus, everything will always be fine and nothing bad can happen to them and their families," Fride wrote.
