Give Major Hasan What He Wants

How good to see you Major. We've been waiting for you.

Army Maj. Nidal Hasan was convicted Friday in the 2009 shooting rampage at Fort Hood, a shocking assault against American troops at home by one of their own who said he opened fire on fellow soldiers to protect Muslim insurgents abroad.

A jury of 13 high-ranking military officers reached a unanimous guilty verdict on all charges — 13 counts of premeditated murder and 32 counts of attempted premeditated murder — in about seven hours. Hasan is now eligible for the death penalty.

Hasan had no visible reaction as the verdict was read. After the jury and Hasan left the courtroom, some victims who survived the shooting and family members began to cry.

The guy wants this. He plans on this. He expects to receive a reward for this, his wholly acceptable act of savage worship to a heathen idol.

The US Army should accommodate Maj. Hasan's wish as soon as possible. Nothing barbaric, a simple firing squad will suffice. Aim for the heart, get it over quickly. Remand his remains to his family and allow them to handle the funeral arrangements in peace.

What will never be completely understood about Hasan's murderous activities is his shock at what transpires as soon as his soul has shucked off his mortal coil. He expects a glorious welcome to Paradise. Instead, he will experience what countless billions have already received, an eternity of absolute, utter terror, condemnation, hopelessness and regret.

But what is hell? Is it flames? Darkness? Nothingness? I found this interesting reference.

Several years ago a book was published, entitled Beyond Death's Door by Dr. Maurice Rawlings. Dr. Rawlings, a specialist in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease, resuscitated many people who had been clinically dead. Dr. Rawlings, a devout atheist, "considered all religion "hocus-pocus" and death nothing more than a painless extinction". But something happened in 1977 that brought a dramatic change in the life of Dr. Rawlings! He was resuscitating a man, terrified and screaming — descending down into the flames of hell:

"Each time he regained heartbeat and respiration, the patient screamed, "I am in hell!" He was terrified and pleaded with me to help him. I was scared to death. . . Then I noticed a genuinely alarmed look on his face. He had a terrified look worse than the expression seen in death! This patient had a grotesque grimace expressing sheer horror! His pupils were dilated, and he was perspiring and trembling — he looked as if his hair was "on end."

Then still another strange thing happened. He said,"Don't you understand? I am in hell. . . Don't let me go back to hell!" . . .the man was serious, and it finally occurred to me that he was indeed in trouble. He was in a panic like I had never seen before."

Black Families Worse Off Under Obama

Everybody is worse off under Obama. The recession officially ended in 2009, but for blacks, Obama's administration has been a disaster. But that's alright for blacks because if Obama had a son, he would have been Trayvon Martin.

Buried in a New York Times story about the economy was this arresting statistic: Median family income for black Americans has declined a whopping 10.9 percent during the Obama administration. It has declined for other groups as well — 3.6 percent for non-Hispanic whites and 4.5 percent for Hispanics — but the figure for blacks is huge. This decline does not include losses suffered during the financial crisis and the recession that followed, but instead measures declines since June 2009, when the recession officially ended.

That’s not the only bad news for African Americans. The poverty rate for blacks was 25.8 percent in 2011. The black labor-force-participation rate, which rose throughout the 1980s and 1990s, has declined for the past decade and quite sharply under Obama to 61.4 percent. The black unemployment rate, according to Pew Research, stands at 13.4 percent. Among black, male high-school dropouts, PBS’s Paul Solman reports, the unemployment rate is a staggering 95 percent.

Does any of this affect the standing of the nation’s first black president with black Americans? Not a whit, apparently.

Aussie Gun Control

Australia's experience with gun control should be a warning to every American. After a questionable police response to the Port Arthur massacre in 1996, Australia went hog wild on gun control. It did not stop gun crime. It simply created a nation of made to order victims. Gun control is nothing but a safe passage program for criminals, creating game preserves for their predation.

As former Australian politician Tim Fischer turns the shooting of Christopher Lane into an opportunity to push a travel boycott until the U.S. changes its gun laws, police in Sydney launched "a new plan to tackle out-of-control gun violence" there.

The new action against gun violence was launched on August 21 and will pull together various police-sponsored gun control operations into one. The name of the new effort is Operation Talon.

According to the Ballina Shire Advocate, "over 9,000 guns have been taken off New South Wales (NSW) streets and 3352 people have charged" during previous operations in the last 12 months alone.

NSW police commissioner Andrew Scipione explained: "There is no single source of gun violence... guns have fallen into the hands of organized crime, outlaw motorcycle gangs, mid-level crime groups and petty thieves and the lines are often blurred."

Not ironically, Australia implemented a massive purge of guns in 1996, which included bans on "assault weapons" and other semi-automatic rifles and shotguns. They also did forced buybacks and then entered into a strict licensing and registration agreement where certain single-shot rifles and similar firearms could be owned but only if the owner provided justification for the possession of such a weapon.

Yet 17 years after the implementation of gun control schemes that are very similar in many ways to those being pushed by Sens. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), Joe Manchin (D-WV), and Chuck Schumer (D-NY), the NSW police department is launching a new operation to rein in gun violence.

As the article states, "over 9,000 guns have been taken off New South Wales (NSW) streets and 3,352 people have charged" in New South Wales. This province has an estimated 2012 population of 7.3 million persons, less than the population of New York City. Yet in a nation that has all but eliminated private gun ownership the government feels threatened enough that a new province-wide initiative is taking place to combat gun violence.

Like our war on drugs or the days of Prohibition, these laws don't work. Worse yet, they remove the only source of protection that some people have. When seconds count, the police are only minutes away.

From Russia With ... MOVE!!!

Apparently the ship's crew lost their bearings.
Or, as it's the Russian Navy, they were using their recently refurbished vodka bearings.

Whatever the case, thinking that they were driving on to a beach belonging to a naval base, they decided to make beach goers skeedaddle by driving their 550 ton hovercraft right up on shore. They'll move...

According to witnesses, the naval base is actually some distance away and this beach is frequently populated with sun-seeking civilians. Allegedly the base was in Khmelevka, several miles from the beach in Mechnikovo, near Kaliningrad on the Baltic Sea.

This is not a wee little boat. It carries 400 men plus lots of cases of vodka equipment. It reaches speeds of 68 mph.

We Are All Chris Lane

Wait. Chris Lane? Who's he?

The name, Chris Lane, will never be synonymous with villainy.

President Obama will never say that if he had a son, he would look like Chris Lane.

Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson will not be mounting their race pimp pulpits in a frenzy to bemoan the cruel and capricious death of Chris Lane.

Oprah will not be shedding a tear for this young man.

Chris Young, a 22 year old white college athelete from Australia, was murdered by three black teens because

they were bored.

 These scumbags drove up behind him and shot him in the back.

UPDATE:

Apparently this murder may have been a gang initiation hit. To join these animals' club you don't have to chug a quart of white vinegar, you have to off some poor soul.

That makes me feel so much better.

Buried in these numbers is another cause of death that is not so apparent and does not receive as much attention; alcohol abuse. The CDC reports that:

People who drink too much cost the U.S. economy $223.5 billion a year, and governments pay more than 60 percent of their health care costs, federal health experts reported on Monday.

Alcohol abuse kills 79,000 people a year, the report from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found.

Most of the costs came from binge drinking, which the CDC defines as four or more drinks per occasion for a woman, and five or more drinks per occasion for a man.

“It is striking that over three-quarters of the cost of excessive alcohol consumption is due to binge drinking, which is reported by about 15 percent of U.S. adults,” the CDC’s Dr. Robert Brewer said in a statement.

That would put alcohol abuse at #7 on the top ten list. And it is an entirely preventable cause of death. The treatment is simple but, oh, so very difficult for so many.

I lost my dad and a sister to alcohol abuse. My dad died in 1990 at the age of 64. My baby sister died in 2004, she was only 46.

Sometimes the numbers can smack you right in the face. For other others, not so much. There were only two real comments on the CDC article, both of them disparaging the loss of productivity figures.

The CDC uses the Cost of Illness (COI) index to determine economic costs for any particular disease. The methodology for determining COI is detailed here for those who are interested.

So, ever wonder why doctors and hospitals have all that paperwork to do? This is one of the reasons.

Egypt May Outlaw Muslim Brotherhood

The Muslim brotherhood has always had a rocky relationship with the Egyptian military. And since the Brothers won the last election, it has gotten worse... much worse.

Our current government loves to deal with terrorists by giving them what they want.

The Egyptian military isn't buying it.

CAIRO (AP) - Egyptian authorities are considering disbanding the Muslim Brotherhood group, a government spokesman said Saturday, once again outlawing a group that held the pinnacle of government power just more than a month earlier.

The announcement comes after security forces broke up two sit-in protests this week by those calling for the reinstatement of President Mohammed Morsi, a Brotherhood leader deposed in a July 3 coup. The clashes killed more than 600 people that day and sparked protests and violence that killed 173 people Friday alone.

Cabinet spokesman Sherif Shawki said that Prime Minister Hazem el-Beblawi, who leads the military-backed government, assigned the Ministry of Social Solidarity to study the legal possibilities of dissolving the group. He didn't elaborate.

[...]The fundamentalist group has been banned for most of its 80-year history and repeatedly subjected to crackdowns under Mubarak's rule. While sometimes tolerated and its leaders part of the political process, members regularly faced long bouts of imprisonment and arbitrary detentions.

Since the Brotherhood came to prominence after the last election, Egypt has been embroiled in social upheaval. Since the so called Arab Spring, the world has witnessed the same violence propagated by Islamic terrorists in Libya, Syria and Tunisia. They murdered our ambassador in Benghazi and we still have yet to hear the full story behind it.

The Obama administration has turned a blind eye to this. Egyptian generals have not, and they have good reason to intervene.

One in five Egyptians live in poverty in a country where the estimated per-capita income was $6,200 last year, according to the CIA's The World Factbook.

And tourism, which provides jobs to 2 million Egyptians, represents 11% of the nation's economic output. In 2009, it brought in $10.8 billion, according to Egyptian Tourism Ministry figures.

In 2010, 15 million tourists traveled to Egypt, 362,000 of them from the U.S., according to the Egyptian Tourist Authority.

The unemployment rate for Egyptians aged 15 to 24 is almost 25%. Almost 50% of their GDP is based on services and much of that is dependent upon maintaining a healthy tourism traffic.

Last year the Egyptian government spent over $27 billion more than it took in. It's deficit is 11% of its GDP and inflation is more than three times that of the US. Their largest trading partner is China. Tourism is their major source of  foreign currency.

IMHO, the Egyptian military is very concerned about the Muslim Brotherhood doing more than just expressing their insane hatred of Israel. As a neighbor of Israel, I believe that the generals are thinking that their peaceful relationship with their powerful neighbor is about to end. And that would be disastrous for a nation that is already on very shaky economic grounds. They respect the prowess of the IDF and obviously have no respect for American leadership nor for our leader.

Tourism is absolutely vital to Egypt and radical Islam is antithetical to tourism. Plus they have no desire to get their asses handed to them when Israel responds to Islamofacist provocations that are sure to come.

Do the math. Historically, killing a few thousand Muslims never seemed to bother Muslims. They do it all the time.

Egyptian Army Promises To Rebuild Coptic Churches

The Obama administration backed the Muslim Brotherhood candidate Morsi in the recent Egyptian elections and is now playing slap-tickle-hide-the-pickle with General Abdel Fattah el-Sissi. But General Sisi doesn't play with terrorists nor does he play with weak American Presidents.

Western allies warned Egypt's military leaders right up to the last minute against using force to crush protest sit-ins by supporters of the ousted Islamist president Mohammed Morsi, arguing they could ill afford the political and economic damage.

A violent end to a six-week standoff between Morsi's Muslim Brotherhood and the armed forces that toppled Egypt's first freely elected president seemed likely once the new authorities declared last week that foreign mediation had failed.

But the United States and the European Union continued to send coordinated messages to army commander General Abdel Fattah el-Sissi and Interim Vice President Mohamed ElBaradei during the four-day Eid al-Fitr Muslim holiday that ended on Sunday, pleading for a negotiated settlement, Western diplomats said.

"We had a political plan that was on the table, that had been accepted by the other side (the Muslim Brotherhood)," said EU envoy Bernardino Leon, who co-led the mediation effort with U.S. Deputy Secretary of State William Burns.

The position taken by the US government is: Waaaahhhhhh! We talked to the terrorists and they liked us! They really, really liked us! And you don't like us! Waaaaahhhhh!

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry was unusually forthright in condemning the imposition of a state of emergency - a throwback to the nearly 30 years of authoritarian rule under U.S. ally Hosni Mubarak, toppled by a popular uprising in 2011.

News flash for our SecState! While Europe (inhabited mostly by Christians) evolved into democratic forms of government, the Near East (inhabited mostly by inbred Muslims) was under autocratic rule since ... ooh 700 AD or thereabouts. Remember the Ottomans (the Turks, not the foot rests)?

And of course let's just ignore the fact that the "democratic" supporters of Morsi are burning dozens of Christian Coptic churches and massacring their parishioners. After all, they're just acting out what the Democrats in America are thinking.

And while the America SecState ignores the pillaging of the Coptics by radical Muslims, General Sisi has already responded:

The Egyptian defense minister has ordered the repair and reconstruction of all churches that suffered damage in the country’s violent demonstrations since the Egyptian military removed President Mohamed Morsi from power last month.

Defense minister Col. Gen. Abdel Fattah El-Sisi intends to fix the damage to Coptic churches at Rabaa Adaweya and Nahda squares, according to a report by the Mid-East Christian News.

Dozens of churches were attacked and burned in riots after thousands of demonstrators took to the streets of Cairo and other Egyptian cities to demand the end of what they call military rule, following the removal of Morsi on July 3. Many of Morsi's supporters have voiced criticism at Egypt's Christian minority for largely supporting the military's decision to oust him from office.

“The Egyptian defense minister ordered the engineering department of the armed forces to swiftly repair all the affected churches, in recognition of the historical and national role played by our Coptic brothers,” read a statement that aired on Egyptian television.

Bishop Mousa thanked Sisi for his efforts to repair the damaged churches.

“We thank Col. Gen. Sisi for commissioning the brave Egyptian armed forces to rebuild the places of worship damaged during the recent events,” Bishop Mousa said on Twitter.

Congressional leaders haven't had a raise? God forbid.

This month, congressional salaries slid to their lowest inflation-adjusted levels since December 1990.

When congressional approval ratings are at historic lows, congressional pay - $174,000 for rank-and-file senators and House members - may seem high. But some argue that shrinking paychecks for public service perpetuates a political culture where mostly the rich can afford to serve in office.

Members of Congress have to maintain households in two locations, one being Washington, one of the most expensive housing markets in the country even for rentals.

Solution: subsidized Congressional public housing, the exact same kind of dumps they provide for poor Americans. Every third occupant must be a crack whore or a drug dealer. That's OK. No need to thank me.

While lawmakers' relative pay is declining, their wealth is increasing: Many in Congress have vast personal wealth. Since 1992, according to Stanford University and the Center for Responsive Politics, congressional net worth increased significantly. Average American household net worth during that time declined. Yet average net worth among freshman members first elected last November stands at more than a million dollars.

Solution: Charge every Congressman $174,000 a year for the privilege of serving their Country. They'd still be worth more than 95% of their constituencies.

Better yet, place Congressional salaries on a merit or performance based scale. We do good, you do good. We have to suck it up, so do you. Under the Constitution, Congress is responsible for administering the nations currency system, It abdicated this responsibility in 1913 when the Federal Reserve system was created. It's time to make them responsible again.

One of the most important sectors of the economy, the banking sector, was already quasi‐socialist or corporatist. The Federal Reserve, with its monopoly powers and its chairman and governors appointed by the President, has been an extraconstitutional branch of government since its creation in 1913.

The bailouts, and the government ownership that has come with them, are a direct result of the Federal Reserve’s policies. At the same time, this government body has been eroding Americans’ capacity for self‐government by forcing them to adjust their lives to an overall inflationary economy.

This is a vicious cycle: The central bank creates a series of booms and busts that makes business planning very difficult. As a result, more and more businesses fail and turn to government for bailouts. The public is told that capitalism is to blame and becomes accustomed to the idea that only government is capable of long-term planning. When the next bust hits, the cycle repeats.

Look at the following chart and see how well Congress and the Federal Reserve have been doing w/r/t the economy.

The chart shows the 1988 to 2010 change in the number of businesses that have one or more employees (employers) and the 1997 to 2010 change in the number of businesses who have no employees (nonemployers). While employers who create jobs have increased from about 4.75 million to maybe 5.6 million (an increase of 18%) , the number of nonemployers have increase by 64%, from 14 million to about 23 million.

Nice work Congress, you're fired.

Extraordinary Times Call For Extraordinary Measures

It's magic! The Obama administration has found a way to stabilize America's debt!

(CNSNews.com) - The Treasury Department's Financial Management Service (FMS), which publishes both the federal government's official Daily Treasury Statement and its official Monthly Treasury Statement, is reporting that in July the federal government ran a deficit of $98 billion but that the federal government's debt remained exactly $16,699,396,000,000 for the entire month.

The FMS said that the deficit went up $98 billion ($97,594,000,000) in the Monthly Treasury Statment for July, which it released on Monday.

At the same time, the FMS said the debt stayed at exactly $16,699,396,000,000 in its Daily Treasury Statements, which are published every business day. The Daily Treasury Statements show the daily value of the federal government debt that is subject to a legal limit set by Congress.

On May 17, the first day the Treasury reported that the debt had hit exactly $16,699,396,000,000--and was thus just $25 million below the legal limit--Treasury Secretary Lew sent a letter to House Speaker John Boehner saying he was beginning to implement what he called "the standard set of extraordinary measures" to prevent the Treasury from exceeding the legal limit on the federal debt.

Since Lew sent that letter--announcing that he would use "extraordinary measures"--the debt has remained stuck at exactly $16,699,396,000,000 for 87 straight days.

That includes all 31 days in July when Lew's Treasury says it was running a $98 billion deficit.
