New 5.56mm Alley Sweeper

A new microgun is available - it weighs but 16 pounds, can be as little as 22 inches long and will fire 2,000 to 4,000 rounds a minute.

Holy crap, look how small it is!

Sure, you know the M134 Minigun, but how about the hand-held XM556 Microgun that tips the scales at about one-fifth the weight?

The Minigun, which weighs in at about 85 pounds in its traditional format and fires 7.62x51mm NATO about as fast as a fat kid can go through a stack of twinkees, is well-known and loved among those who ain’t got time to bleed. However, Empty Shell LLC of Spring, Texas went all-in on a tiny little variant of the Mingun that they like to call the XM556 Microgun.

Designed and built from scratch as a replacement for the GE XM-214, the 5.56mm version of the Minigun, it only weighs about 16 pounds– which is lighter than a Para M249. Using either 10 or 16 inch barrels (!) the gun is just 22-inches long in its shortest config and using M-27 Linked Ammunition Belts, will spew 5.56 at 2000-4000 rounds per minute, which is a good start in our opinion.

Fast And Furious In France

One of the guns used in the Paris, France, slaughter last year was purchased  from an Arizona gun shop and may have been one of the weapons that was allowed to slide through "Fast and Furious" - the ATF debacle.

One of the guns used in the November 13, 2015 Paris terrorist attacks came from Phoenix, Arizona where the Obama administration allowed criminals to buy thousands of weapons illegally in a deadly and futile “gun-walking” operation known as “Fast and Furious.”

A Report of Investigation (ROI) filed by a case agent in the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco Firearms and Explosives (ATF) tracked the gun used in the Paris attacks to a Phoenix gun owner who sold it illegally, “off book,” Judicial Watch’s law enforcement sources confirm. Federal agents tracing the firearm also found the Phoenix gun owner to be in possession of an unregistered fully automatic weapon, according to law enforcement officials with firsthand knowledge of the investigation.

The investigative follow up of the Paris weapon consisted of tracking a paper trail using a 4473 form, which documents a gun’s ownership history by, among other things, using serial numbers. The Phoenix gun owner that the weapon was traced back to was found to have at least two federal firearms violations—for selling one weapon illegally and possessing an unregistered automatic—but no enforcement or prosecutorial action was taken against the individual. Instead, ATF leaders went out of their way to keep the information under the radar and ensure that the gun owner’s identity was “kept quiet,” according to law enforcement sources involved with the case. “Agents were told, in the process of taking the fully auto, not to anger the seller to prevent him from going public,” a veteran law enforcement official told Judicial Watch.

The Mighty M1911: Legendary .45 Pistol

Wow, during World War II, a USAAF bomber is shot down by Japanese fighters over Burma. Several crew members are killed while parachuting to safety .... except for one.

On March 31, 1943, when they were stationed in British India, Baggett’s squadron was ordered to destroy a bridge at Pyinmana, Burma. But before reaching their target, the B-24 bombers were intercepted by Japanese fighter planes. Baggett’s plane was badly hit, and the crew were ordered to bail out. The Japanese pilots then attacked U.S. airmen as they parachuted to earth.

Two of Baggett’s crew members were killed, and Baggett, though wounded, played dead, hoping the Japanese would ignore him. One Zero approaching within several feet of Baggett, then nose-up and in an almost-stall, the pilot opened his canopy. Baggett shot at the pilot with his .45 calibre pistol. The plane stalled and plunged to the earth, with Baggett becoming legendary as the only person to down a Japanese airplane with a M1911 pistol.

The co-pilot of that B-24, Owen John Baggett (August 29, 1920 – July 27, 2006), was a second lieutenant in the United States 7th Bomb Group based at Pandaveswar, in India, during the Second World War.

When Colts Made The Jump

I have several black powder pistols, a Remington New Army in 44 cal. and a Colt model 1851 Navy in .36 cal.; these are replicas. I like history, especially American history and the Civil War. Firing these weapons (I also have a Springfield model 1861 rifle) gives me an appreciation for the types of action experienced during this War. I can't imagine standing there with your mates and reloading one shot at a time while hell is erupting all around you. It staggers the mind.

Every now and then I see a western where an actor is carrying what appears to be a Colt model 1860 that is designed for cartridges rather than percussion cap. Now I know why.

Colt produced conversion kits for their model 1860 percussion revolvers until S&W's patent for using metallic cartridges expired in 1871.The actual patent used by S&W was issued in 1859 to Rollin White who designed the cylinder that S&W used for their revolvers.

In 1873 Colt produced the Single Action Army revolver in .45 cal., the iconic handgun of the West.

DETROIT — An Ann Arbor Catholic priest has urged his parishioners to arm themselves and attend classes at Christ the King parish to earn a concealed pistol license (CPL).
In a letter sent to Christ the King parishioners recently, the Rev. Edward Fride explained why he believed it was necessary to get concealed pistol licenses because of recent crime in the area. During a Palm Sunday Mass last month, Fride announced that the parish would be holding the CPL class. 

When some parishioners questioned the decision, Fride sent out a pro-gun letter titled "We're not in Mayberry Anymore, Toto" — a reference to the 1960s-era Andy Griffith Show and its portrayal of a fictional North Carolina town, as well as Dorothy's dog from The Wizard of Oz. 

"It is very common for Christians to simply assume that they live in Mayberry, trusting that because they know the Lord Jesus, everything will always be fine and nothing bad can happen to them and their families," Fride wrote.

Double Your Fun

This weapon uses the gas piston system from one barrel to actuate the sear on the other barrel; this is very handy when you  absolutely, positively gotta have a double tap and only want to pull the trigger once.

Unfortunately this violates federal law in that a single trigger pull sends more than one bullet down range. So the gun is being reconfigured for the US civilian market with two triggers and 16" barrels. Since the triggers are close together, you can pull them both at once. Bada bing.

The rifle is manufactured by Silver Shadow, an Israeli arms manufacturer who markets the Gilboa rifle. Apparently Gilboa is in the process of completing an assembly plant in the US and will be marketing this rifle perhaps in the fall.

Just WTH is it with Feds and guns? If this isn't a love/hate relationship I don't know what is. First they try to take them away from law abiding citizens but can't wait to get their hands on them for themselves.

EXCLUSIVE: The director of the Federal Air Marshal Service is retiring after being investigated for his role in an alleged operation to acquire guns for officials' personal use, FoxNews.com has learned.

Director Robert Bray's home was raided in December in connection with the ongoing probe, according to sources and documents. Law enforcement and congressional sources told FoxNews.com that Bray's recently announced retirement, which is effective in June, is directly related to the investigation.

Transportation Security Administration officials say no such raid ever happened.

But Bray allegedly is among several officials who were obtaining weapons through this operation.

The probe stems from whistleblower accusations involving federal Air Marshal supervisor Danny Poulos. Sources say the Department of Homeland Security inspector general is involved, and possibly the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. TSA officials disputed that those agencies are involved, but acknowledged that there is an internal review underway by the TSA Office of Inspection into the supervisor's alleged activity.

The supervisor, a TSA official confirmed to FoxNews.com, is "on administrative leave."

Poulos is accused of using the agency's federal firearms license and his relationship with gun manufacturer Sig Sauer to obtain discounted and free guns. He then provided them to high-up agency officials for their personal use, according to whistleblower documents obtained by FoxNews.com and interviews with multiple officials with knowledge of the ongoing probe.

There's big bucks involved in equipping an agency with handguns. These weapons are not cheap.

The Air Marshal Service, as part of their expansion following the 9/11 terror attacks, adopted the SIG P229 handgun and has used the system across its ranks, which swelled to nearly 5,000 agents. Bray accepted the position of director of the agency in 2008. The following year the AMS announced a switch to the SIG P250 despite the fact that other federal law enforcement agencies rejected the gun after it failed performance testing.

The P250 is a subcompact that may not meet rigid government requirements for any number of reasons. Sig makes a very decent, high quality handgun but that particular configuration may only be suitable for air marshals concealed carry. IMHO as an undercover or off-duty weapon, it would be ok, but that's just me. I carry a .357 or .45, nothing less.

News sources in Alabama reported on Saturday that an announcement will be made on Monday confirming that Remington Arms is building a new 500,000 square-foot plant in that state and the $87 (m) million dollar investment will mean about 2000 jobs.

Alabama’s Yellowhammer, Military Times and AL.com have reported that some of the jobs will be coming from Remington’s birthplace, Ilion, where some 1300 jobs remain.

The Yellowhammer quotes an inside anonymous source at Remington who claims that the Ilion plant will remain open, but with a ‘reduced workforce.’

Governor Cuomo’s spokesman, Rich Azzopardi used Twitter on Saturday night to dispute that, by saying, “…to be clear, no Remington jobs are leaving New York.”

[...]A number of states have been courting Remington Arms, America’s oldest gun maker, since Governor Andrew Cuomo passed New York’s Safe Act in January of last year.

Alabama’s Governor Robert Bentley has been one of those Governor’s looking to welcome the gun maker. While the governor would not confirm Monday’s Remington announcement in Huntsville, he did tell AL.com that, ”I think Monday you’ll see something very special in the state,” Bentley said.

Following Governor Cuomo’s comments about conservatives not being welcome in New York, Bentley made it clear that those on the right, including Remington, are clearly welcome.

“In Alabama we strongly support and uphold our great U.S. Constitution on which our nation and our states were founded,” Bentley told Yellowhammer. “The Constitution serves to protect individual Freedoms. Among them are those guaranteed in the Second Amendment, which protects the right of the people to keep and bear Arms. We will protect the Freedoms of individuals and welcome any one or any company to Alabama to discover as so many have, that we are a pro-business state filled with good, hardworking people.”

There have been plenty of rumors about Remington’s Ilion plant moving out of the state, especially over the last several months. Congressman Richard Hanna has told WIBX on several occasions that Remington is doing well in Ilion.

RINO Hanna is another idiot. And the Alabama press says that this is a sure thing. Huntsville will be receiving the new jobs.

Remington first began considering new locations after the New York legislature passed the Secure Ammunition and Firearms Enforcement (SAFE) Act in response to the tragic shootings in Newtown, Conn. In addition to banning magazines that contain more than seven rounds and requiring instant background checks on ammo purchases, the NY SAFE Act broadened the definition of so-called “assault weapons” to include a wide range of guns, including the Bushmaster, which was being manufactured at Remington’s New York plant.

At the end of the serial number on Trijicon's ACOG gun sight, you can read "JN8:12", a reference to the New Testament book of John, Chapter 8, Verse 12, which reads: "Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life." The ACOG is widely used by the U.S. military.

The sights are used by U.S. troops in Iraq and Afghanistan and in the training of Iraqi and Afghan soldiers. The maker of the sights, Trijicon, has a $660 million multi-year contract to provide up to 800,000 sights to the Marine Corps, and additional contracts to provide sights to the U.S. Army.
