The Senate markup of the 2013 National Defense Appropriations Act late last month dealt a grave blow to the liberal green agenda that has taken hold of the Defense Department.

Like the version of the bill that passed the Republican-controlled House, the Senate version censures military plans to invest heavily in costly biofuels to power ships and aircraft.

In recent months, Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta and Navy Secretary Ray Mabus have made no secret of their intentions to support the infant biofuels industry, using the alternative fuels at the rate of $26 a gallon to power a “Great Green Fleet” intended to launch for training this summer and deploy in 2016.

“We can break the market,” Mabus boasted at a gala sponsored by the Environmental Defense Fund in May.

These senseless jackholes will be the death of us all. My grandfather was a cook on a sub chaser in WWI; my dad was a Navy salvage (hard hat) diver in WWII; my brother was a snipe (machinist's mate) during the Vietnam Way on a destroyer, the USS Sims. Not one of them could or would give a flying fig about biofuels. They wanted a fighting ship. That's all. And how much money does the Navy want to waste on exotic fuels which could instead go for ammunition, aviation fuel, bombs, additional sailors, training, etc., at $26 a gallon!?!?! It was four times as expensive when the Navy was only paying $15 a gallon for biofuel, so roughly double it now.

You have to follow the money because this is just a repeat of the scandalous behavior of Solynda donations where a half billion tax payer dollars went into someone's pocket. Look to see where the biofuel contracts are going.

Dynamic Fuels, half-owned by agribusiness giant Tyson Foods, converts fats and waste greases into biofuels. Solazyme uses algae as a means of fermenting everything from plant matter to municipal waste into fuel. Both are considered leaders in the next-gen biofuel industry —

Interestingly enough, Dynamic Fuels, LLC, is being sued for patent infringement by a Finnish company for using their patent to process chicken fat into biofuel. Dynamic Fuels, LLC, is half owed by Tyson Chicken and has partnered with Solazyme to produce biofuel for the Navy. One name pops up between the two companies, Robert N. Ames. He is a VP at Solazyme and Dynamic Fuels and was also a VP at Tyson Chicken.

Taxpayers for Common Sense has something to say about the biofuel industry:

• Lobbying: The biofuels industry spent almost $31 million on lobbying so far in 2011 – or roughly $169,000 per day – capping off a total of nearly $243 million in lobbying expenditures from 2008‐2011. It employs hundreds of lobbyists, including former Congressional and administration staff, and even a few former members of Congress themselves.
• Contributions: Over the last three election cycles, the biofuels industry has donated more than $12.5 million in campaign contributions to the members of the 112th Congress.
• Super Committee: Members of the so‐called Super Committee have received $708,000 from this industry over the same period. In anticipation of the loss of the lucrative ethanol tax credit, the biofuels industry is fighting for continued government spending on biofuels research, federally backed loan guarantees for construction projects, special tax provisions meant to encourage biofuels production, and even federal outlays for building a biofuels infrastructure, such as installation of ethanol‐compatible blender pumps at gas stations.

I Guess That Closet Wasn't So Crowded After All

Ever wondered why all those gays stopped coming out of the closet? There weren't that many of them to begin with. Their agenda to legitimatize perversion was the same tactic practiced by the pro-abortion activists murderous feminists before Roe v. Wade made baby murder legal. They simply lied through their teeth and the media let them get away with it. Even the case presented to the Supreme Court was a set up. The woman was not raped. She simply got knocked up and lied about it.

I remember those days very well. In 1972 I was just out of college and the debate had been raging for some time. The number quoted by feminist murders was 10,000. That's right. Over 10,000 women a year died from coat hangers. When I finally looked it up in the CDC statistics, it was actually around 25. Not 25,000 mind you, just under 25 ....

In 1972 (the year before abortion was federally legalized), a total of 24 women died from causes known to be associated with legal abortions, and 39 died as a result of known illegal abortions (CDC).

The leftists have not changed their tactics.They are lying again. We don't have uncounted millions of gay fellows longing to breathe free while biting the pillow. They do not comprise 25% or even 10% of the US population.

In surveys conducted in 2002 and 2011, pollsters at Gallup found that members of the American public massively overestimated how many people are gay or lesbian. In 2002, a quarter of those surveyed guessed upwards of a quarter of Americans were gay or lesbian (or "homosexual," the third option given). By 2011, that misperception had only grown, with more than a third of those surveyed now guessing that more than 25 percent of Americans are gay or lesbian. Women and young adults were most likely to provide high estimates, approximating that 30 percent of the population is gay. Overall, "U.S. adults, on average, estimate that 25 percent of Americans are gay or lesbian," Gallup found. Only 4 percent of all those surveyed in 2011 and about 8 percent of those surveyed in 2002 correctly guessed that fewer than 5 percent of Americans identify as gay or lesbian.

So, how many are there? No one knows for sure. Estimates range from 4 to 9 million in the US. That is about 1.3% to maybe 6% of the population.

Tonight, my family was sitting around the kitchen table eating dinner when sheriffs deputies pulled up in the driveway.

Someone called 911 from my address claiming there had been an accidental shooting.

It wasn’t nearly the trauma that Patterico suffered, but I guess the Erickson household is on somebody’s radar.

Luckily it was two sheriffs deputies who knew me and I had already, last week, advised the Sheriff’s Department to be on the look out for something like this.

New York Loses, Again

Having just flown back from a wonderful four-day mini vacation in North Carolina yesterday, I was particularly interested in this CNS article.

New York State accounted for the biggest migration exodus of any state in the nation between 2000 and 2010, with 3.4 million residents leaving over that period, according to the Tax Foundation.

Knowing that the state had already lost two Congressional seats, this came as no surprise.

Where are they escaping to? The Tax Foundation found that more than 600,000 New York residents moved to Florida over the decade – opting perhaps for the Sunshine State’s more lenient tax system – taking nearly $20 billion in adjusted growth income with them.

Using the NYS tax rate of 6.85%, that's $1.3 billion that NYS politicians didn't get to piss away.

Time Off

Leaving on a jet plane.

The Mrs. and I are off to North Carolina to spend Memorial Weekend with our Soldier Girl. She'll pick us up at Raleigh and then off to Ft. Bragg and then maybe Wilmington and Cape Carteret. It's been a hellish few weeks at work and I really need some down time.

While I'm away, how about this: write a comment on how you met your wife.

I met my wife at a bar. I had been scratched on my hand while breaking up a street disturbance and contacted infantiago. The doc kept me out of work for several weeks until the scabs on my face and scalp stopped festering and oozing.  The night before I was going to return to work I headed to a place called Frankie's. The scabs had all but disappeared but I hadn't shaved yet.

I saw this striking, obviously Italian, young lady and after a spell, decided to try to talk to her. I downed a bit of liquid courage and approached her. I struck up a conversation, or tried to. She was not impressed at all with me, or so I thought.

I asked her to dance. Her replay, "No, the band sucks." But I was friendly, persuasive and have blue eyes. It was a winning combination. And the scabs were almost gone. She asked me what I did for a living and I had to tin her. She actually relaxed a bit and became friendlier when she saw I was in law enforcement. Even after I warned her to stay away from cops. She was out for the evening with her cousin - who was amazed when this Italian beauty agreed to go out to breakfast with me. Took her home after breakfast and never stopped seeing her. That was the summer of 1979 and we married in May of 1982.

Ok, Ok - I do remember... it was July of '79. I remember because just that month on my way to work I drove my almost completely restored 1963 MGB into the side of a VW bug driven by an idiot who turned right in front of me only two blocks away from the police station. Totaled my poor MGB. The only thing funny about that accident was the absolutely classic look of "Oh, am I f**d" on his face when I climbed out of the MGB in full uniform.

The most overturned federal appellate court in the Nation, California's liberal Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, is seeking over a million dollars to fete themselves at an exclusive Hawaiian resort and have the nerve to call it a judicial conference.

Yesterday, Dan Riehl of Breitbart News broke the story about judges from the notoriously liberal Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals getting ready to spend about a million dollars of taxpayer dollars on a lavish vacation. Breitbart News published a report from “the offices of the Ranking Member of the Senate Budget Committee, Senator Jeff Sessions, and the offices of Senator Chuck Grassley, the Ranking Member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, with several detailed questions they want answered by the Ninth District.”

Q: Just what the hell are you blockheads going to conference about?

A: In order to maintain our record as one of the worst appellate courts in the Nation we have to plan ahead. Incompetence on a grand scale doesn't come cheap.

Q:Why hold a conference for nine western states in a luxury hotel 5,000 miles away from the mainland?

A:We heard Georgia Democrat Congressman Hank Johnson say that the island of Guam "will tip over and capsize" if too many people move there. Hell, Hawaii is a lot bigger than Guam. We can all stay there a few weeks with our wives and girlfriends and the island won't budge an inch. Guarantee it!

According to Riehl's story, "Judges from the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, federal district and bankruptcy courts in nine Western states and two Pacific island territories, along with lawyers practicing in those courts, and court staff, will gather at the luxurious Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa from August 13 - 16, 2012 in what looks like a less than valiant attempt to ensure American justice is being served...at a cost to taxpayers of approximately one million dollars."

The Kennedy Legend

The media tapestry that is the Kennedy legend has been getting awfully threadbare lately. And it unravels more and more due to the shoddy material from which it was made -  the Kennedys themselves.

A curse, however, implies supernatural intervention by vengeful gods jealous of mortal youth, beauty, brilliance.

Let’s just call it what it is: the natural fallout when you’re a member of a family riddled with entitled, underachieving drunks, drug addicts and adulterers, whose treatment of women is historically deplorable.

Not to be outdone, Ted "Where's My Buick" Kennedy reached new levels of despicable behavior.

And Ted. Where to begin? There are the well-documented stories of truly sleazy behavior, but it’s quite the legacy when partying with your nephew leads to his trial for rape—and that’s just a footnote. Ted was the worst of the three, pitching off a bridge at Chappaquiddick in 1969, leaving a young campaign aide named Mary Jo Kopechne to die at the bottom of a lake while he slept off the booze, then strategized spin control.

Of course the patriarch of the family, Joe Kennedy Sr., established a record that was hard to beat. Rose managed to outlive him which was probably wasn't reward enough for what he put her through. Two subsequent generations of Kennedys have killed themselves or their spouses trying to best the old man.

And lest we forget the third-generation Kennedys: the late Michael Kennedy (affair with the teenage babysitter); Ethel’s nephew Michael Skakel (convicted of the 1975 murder of teenage neighbor Martha Moxley); William Kennedy Smith (tried for rape in 1991); Joe Kennedy II (getting an annulment without telling his wife);Doug Kennedy (kicking and shoving his maternity nurse).

And Robert Kennedy Jr. isn't any better. Alcoholism and substance abuse runs rampant in the women married to the Kennedy clan because of the humiliation they suffer.

“I remember being seated at a dinner next to Bobby around 10 years ago that she was also at,” a close friend of Mary’s told The Post last week. “It was the first time I had met either of them, and he put his hand on my thigh under the table. He was such a dog that way.”

Yesterday, the Kennedys buried Mary in Hyannisport, near the famous family compound. In life, Mary had been banned from there for years. In death, she is now the good Kennedy wife, keeping up appearances.

Poor Mary. She just couldn't beat the Kennedy legend.

In yesterday's news,  a political nothing, a nobody, shows that he can poll almost equal with the President.

It didn't get any better today.

The WashTimes relates how Obama now has the budget blues, again from his own party.

President Obama's budget suffered a second embarrassing defeat Wednesday, when senators voted 99-0 to reject it.

Coupled with the House's rejection in March, 414-0, that means Mr. Obama's budget has failed to win a single vote in support this year.

Republicans forced the vote by offering the president's plan on the Senate floor.

Democrats disputed that it was actually the president's plan, arguing that the slim amendment didn't actually match Mr. Obama's budget document, which ran thousands of pages. But Republicans said they used all of the president's numbers in the proposal, so it faithfully represented his plan.

Sen. Jeff Sessions, Alabama Republican, even challenged Democrats to point out any errors in the numbers and he would correct them — a challenge no Democrats took up.

Obama Leads by Only 7 in Arkansas's Democratic Primary

A new poll of Arkansas Democrats shows Barack Obama receiving support from only 45 percent of Democratic primary voters in Arkansas’s Fourth Congressional District, while 38 percent support his underfunded and relatively unknown primary challenger, Tennessee lawyer John Wolfe, Jr. Seventeen percent are undecided in the district poll.

[...]Wolfe predicted that the voters would move his way in the final days before the May 22 primary, despite his shoestring campaign budget. “There’s not been a single TV ad. There’s not been a single radio ad,” he said.

Illegal immigrant worked as airport security supervisor for TWENTY years under the ID of a man murdered in 1992

Authorities say a longtime security supervisor at a New Jersey airport has been arrested on a charge he was using the identity of a New York City man who was murdered 20 years ago.

Illegal immigrant Bimbo Olumuyiwa Oyewole, 54, of Nigeria, was arrested on Monday at his home in Elizabeth.

His co-workers knew him as Jerry Thomas, a man who was murdered in New York City in 1992, the same year Oyewole allegedly assumed his name when he started working at the airport.

It wasn't immediately clear how Thomas' personal information was acquired.

The Nigerians have upped their game over the last twenty years. Now they steal identities and screw people through the internet and never have to leave their own country - or show up for work.

An airport employee who was familiar with Oyewole as Thomas said the private security guards he supervised are responsible for manning TSA security checkpoints after passenger gates close for the evening and before they reopen in the morning.

The guards also inspect delivery vehicles for possible unauthorized cargo, he said, speaking to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak about the matter.

I really would like to know how he got his hands on the identity of a murder victim. I imagine the cops are going through his house and personal effects with a fine tooth comb. Maybe they'll find a few more of Obama's relatives...

The shocking slides are part of a course called ‘Understanding the Threat to America’, which was taught at Joint Forces Staff College by Army Lieutenant Colonel Matthew Dooley.

Dooley has since been suspended from the army but still works at the college.

The presentation - entitled ‘So What Can We Do?’ A Counter - Jihad Op Design Model - lists Dresden, Tokyo, Hiroshima and Nagasaki as precedents which can be applied to ‘Mecca and Medina’s destruction.’

The presentation reads: ‘Given the factual basis of what "Islamists" say they seek to impose on the world, the United States has come to accept that radical "true Islam" is both a political and military enemy to free people throughout the world.

‘It is therefore time for the United States to make our true intentions clear. This barbaric ideology will no longer be tolerated. Islam must change or we will facilitate its self destruction.'

Islam hasn't changed in 1400 years. They're still lopping off heads and arms like an insane hedge trimmer in Augusta just before the PGA Masters Tournament. So facilitate away...

The group formed in 2010 'for the purpose of exposing and defeating efforts to subvert the United States Constitution and subjugate the American People,’ says the company’s website.

Ibrahim Hooper, CAIR’s national communications director, told Al Jazeera: ‘The intention of these trainers is to demonise Islam and to marginalise American Muslims.’

Seems to me that whenever CAIR is mentioned by a liberal news source, they always forget to include this little nugget:  CAIR is listed as an unindicted co-conspirator suspected of supporting Hamas terrorists.

Initially, CAIR protested its inclusion on the government’s unindicted co-conspirator list. It moved before Federal Judge Jorge Solis, who tried the Holy Land Foundation case, to have its name, and those of the other unindicted parties, expunged from the government’s list. It also asked the court to find that its Fifth Amendment rights had been violated by the government’s public filing of the list.

Judge Solis issued an order in response to CAIR’s motion (and that of two other parties) on July 1, 2009. That order was not made public until it was affirmed by the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals last month.

Judge Solis refused to remove their name from the list of organizations supporting terrorism. The ruling and sentencing can be found here. CAIR is consistent in it's use of legal maneuvering to obfuscate it's true purpose: to install Islamic rule in this country by any means possible.

The slides are apparently approved by two retired three-star generals and James Woolsey, a former CIS director.

John Kirby, a spokesman for the Department of Defense, said: ‘The material that was presented to us as a matter of concern by this young officer student certainly is not in keeping with our values - and more importantly, not even in keeping with the strategy as we see it in the "War on Terror".'

Methinks the DoD needs to rethink their strategy because the current one sure as hell isn't working.
