ACLU Demand Schools Remove Internet Filters That Block Access To Sexuality Sites

“ACLU is pushing its radical sexual agenda for children by intimidating school districts with a long string of scare tactics disguised as a concern over censorship,” said David Cortman, Senior Counsel for the Alliance Defense Fund (ADF). “In truth, these school districts have no obligation to cave to the ACLU’s unwarranted demands. Our children come first.”


Web filters stop children from accidentally or intentionally going to websites with sexually explicit material.Last February, ACLU, in partnership with Yale Law School, launched a nationwide campaign, “Don’t Filter Me,” to target schools that block lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) websites.

The campaign asked students to see if their schools blocked web content geared toward LGBT communities. Students were encouraged to report their findings to the ACLU LGBT Project.

“Students may not realize that it actually is illegal for their schools to block educational and political content geared toward the LGBT community,” argued Joshua Block, a staff attorney with the ACLU LGBT Project. “Programs that block LGBT content violate First Amendment rights to free speech, as well as the Equal Access Act.”

The ADF, however, argues that this rationale is ultimately a disguise for something more sinister. “The ‘Don’t Filter Me Initiative’ would be better named the ‘Public School Porn Initiative,’” according to Cortman.

So far seven school districts have been legally threatened by ACLU with an ultimatum that they either disable their filters or face a federal civil rights lawsuit. One school district in Camdenton, Missouri has already been sued by ACLU.

In response to this threat ADF attorneys sent letters to the school districts arguing that ACLU’s arguments are “irresponsible and lack legal merit.”

“A public school district’s decisions regarding what web content to make available to students are curricular decisions, and the case law is clear that public school districts have broad authority over curricular matters,” wrote Cortman to Tim Hadfield, superintendent of the sued school district in Missouri.

“Disabling the sexuality filter will make sexually inappropriate material available to students … [some of which is] pornographic in nature,” said Cortman.

Sexuality filters block websites that are “dedicated to sexuality” and that provide internet materials dealing with sex or sexuality that are deemed inappropriate for minors. The filters also exclude websites that “possibly includ[e] adult material.”

Mexico Is Burning

The drug cartel-fueled violence in Mexico shows no sign of abating. It's as if the cartels are engaged in a hellish competition to see who can out savage the other in horrendous killings. Like this one in which 53 people are now reported dead; authorities are still looking for more bodies:

MONTERREY, Mexico — Two dozen gunmen burst into a casino in northern Mexico on Thursday, doused it with gasoline and started a fire that trapped gamblers inside, killing 40 people and injuring a dozen more, authorities said.

The fire at the Casino Royale in Monterrey, a city that has seen a surge in drug cartel-related violence, represented one of the deadliest attacks on an entertainment center in Mexico since President Felipe Calderon launched an offensive against drug cartels in late 2006.

"This is a night of sadness for Mexico," federal security spokesman Alejandro Poire said in a televised address. "These unspeakable acts of terror will not go unpunished."

US Attorney General Eric Holder has proposed a new strategy to help Mexican halt these casino murders.

The newly restructured federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, Explosives, Chewing Gum, Tent Stakes, Household Cleaning Products, Lawn Furniture, Bikini Waxes, Knotted Lamp Cords and Running With Sissors In Your Hand will supervise the program.

Dubbed Operation "Zippo Storm" by BATFECGTSHCPLFBWKLCRWSIYH wags, the new initiative will relax foreign trade restrictions in order to track straw sales of unauthorized American cigarette lighters to members of Mexican drug cartels.

The Pentagon has declared parts of the Afghani war theater a "Toot Free Zone" due to Muslim protests that our Marines stink. Literally. From the Military Times:

[...]So here’s the news: audible farting has been banned for some Marines downrange because it offends the Afghans.

I know there are many things in the Afghan culture that don’t seem normal to Americans and it’s hard to spend seven months working in someone else’s back yard. Still, the Marines I saw downrange are doing a pretty good job at trying to do the right thing around the Afghans.

They’re not supposed to cuss because it could be misunderstood (that one goes out the window a lot). And they stay away from talking about politics, religion or girls because those topics could escalate into major disagreements (they can’t communicate anyway because of the language barrier).

But farting? That’s practically a sport. Ok, it’s not soccer, but a good contest could open the door for cross-cultural exchanges, jokes and other gallows humor.

So, for all Marines getting ready to go downwind, I mean downrange, be forewarned — you may have to hold it in… at least until you get back to your hooch where you can loudly crop dust your friends.

Once again stealth technology will come to the rescue of our intrepid Armed Forces. I'm sure the Marines can utilize their intelligence and superior combat training to unleash the "silent but deadly" variety of noxious airbursts, ie. the MOAF (Mother Of All F...s).

Online Islamist: East Coast earthquake ‘Allah’s punishment on Americans’

After they finished cowering in fear, most Washingtonians scratched their heads over the unexpected earthquake that shook the city and much of the East Coast at 1:51 p.m. Tuesday. But one online Islamist says there is a perfectly reasonable explanation for the quake: It was a punishment from Allah.

According to a posting titled “Allah’s punishment on Americans” on the Shoumokh Al-Islam jihadi forum by someone writing under the name Abu Ibrahim, “Allah has struck New York and the capital city Washington by an earthquake as a punishment for their disbelief.”

“Such a little earthquake that measured 6.0 has terrified the tyrant American people and forced them to leave their houses and places of work,” Ibrahim continued. The posting was provided to The Daily Caller by The Middle East Media Research Institute, which reasonably noted that it doesn’t find Ibrahim’s rantings particularly important.

Gee, I thought He would have been a lot harder on the Washington crowd.

Race clown Desmond Tutu proposes a "piffling" tax on white people

Y'all better hope the Democrats don't hear about this.

Cape Town, South Africa – Retired Anglican Archbishop Desmond Tutu has said apartheid had left South Africans suffering from "self-hate" which is partly to blame for the country's vicious crime rate and road carnage.

"Apartheid damaged us all; not a single one of us has escaped," said Tutu on Aug. 11 during a book launch at Stellenbosch University's Institute for Advanced Study near Cape Town.

The Nobel Peace Prize Laureate said the nation was no longer surprised by statistics of violent crime, murder, rape as "when you suffer from self hate you project it to others who look like you."

As for the nation's high auto accident rates, he said, "we drive recklessly, inconsiderately, aggressively ... because deep down we are angry and so the appalling carnage on our roads during the holidays ... [these] horrendous statistics we just accept."

Tutu, who in 1995 headed the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC), a restorative justice court, also criticized current politicians, calling upon members of President Jacob Zuma's cabinet, most of whom are black, to show concern for the poor by selling their expensive cars.

Tutu called for a small "wealth tax"on all white South Africans as they had benefited during apartheid, the race based segregation system that operated between 1948 and 1994, according to the Cape Argus.


He said the wealth tax call was not new but came up during the TRC process where many in the white community were ready for it at that time. "It could be quite piffling, maybe 1 percent of their stock exchange holdings. It's nothing. But it could have helped," Tutu said.

"Our white fellow citizens have to accept the obvious: You all benefited from apartheid. But that does not mean that all are responsible for apartheid," said Tutu, who retired from public life in 2010 at the age of 79.

The book, The Humanist Imperative in South Africa, edited by Professor John de Gruchy, is a collection of 26 essays from leading academics and public figures about how mutual respect between South Africans can be promoted.

The Cappuccino Machines Are Next

In a brilliant ploy designed to disrupt command and control capabilities of Qaddafi loyalist forces, NATO backed Libyan rebels have targeted the vital small office appliance networks serving the remnants of the Libyan Army.

As Libya's rebels fought their way into the capital city, Tripoli, for the first time since the uprising began six months ago, state TV broadcast what seemed to be an audio message from their dictator, Muammar Qaddafi.

What was intended to be a message of strength and defiance instead came across as bizarre and slightly desperate, according to the many who listened in.

"You destroy our air conditioners," Qaddafi is reported as saying, according to CNN's Matthew Chance.

During the message, Qaddafi read the date and time to prove that he was alive and well, but the fact that it was an audio recording made on a static line did nothing to quell the many rumors that he had already fled the country.

Electric pencil sharpeners, small refrigerators and cash registers were the first to go in a desperate bid to wrest control of this small African nation from it's mad despot. It is feared that the nation's convenience store economy may be set back for decades after this hellish development.

Why Do Muslims Act Like..... Muslims?

My daughter has spent considerable time in Muslim countries, a year in Egypt and nine months in Afghanistan. Her opinion of Muslim countries and their constituent populations is rather droll; loves the children, views the adults as cretins. Planck's Constant helps sheds some light on this.

Israel is one of the smallest countries in the world, yet leading hi-tech companies such as Google, Microsoft, and Intel do their most advanced research in tiny Israel.

But let me ask this, "Why not in Saudi Arabia?" it's not as if the Saudis don't have hundreds of billions they could spend on research. For those who don't know the answer, consider:

Their religion cannot be questioned, their way of life is immune from criticism. In fact, Muslim countries have petitioned the UN to make criticizing Islam a crime.

As well, Mohammed is the perfect man and a model for all Muslim men. Jews on the other hand, present their kings and prophets with all their blemishes. King David in the Old Testament is an adulterous lech. Jews are allowed to ask King David, "Who the hell do you think you are?"

Jews were brought up to question, to debate, to deny, to argue, to challenge the accepted wisdom. Put two Jews in a room and you end up with three different opinions.

Jews and Science - they go so well together. How well? More than 173 Nobel Prizes have been awarded to Jews (not counting those worthless Nobel Peace Prizes).

The Islam apologists like to claim that Muslims are responsible for much scientific knowledge through the centuries. This is just not true. Muslims conquered other nations and aggregated their collective knowledge base. This is still a praiseworthy achievement, but is really more of an administrative task rather than a creative outpouring.

The rigid Islamic belief system gradually eliminated scientific inquiry because as we all know, you have to question the status quo before you can investigate it. And Islam means "Submission" not "Just What The HELL Is Wrong With This Picture?"

For the first 600 years during its great conquests Muslim rulers allowed the non-Muslim populations to be creative and industrious because Muslims were a tiny minority in these lands and feared revolt if they forced conversion to Islam.

It was mostly these non-Muslims who contributed the accomplishments usually attributed to Muslims.

Islam was a new religion and Islamic scholars did not yet put in place the restrictions on learning and intellectual pursuits that Islam has today. But as Islam became more and more repressive, infidels found it unbearable to live as dhimmis and converted in mass numbers to Islam. Where once Muslims were a minority, they soon became the majority, and so Islamic rulers were no longer in fear of insurrection of the minority religions. They were free to impose true Islam into every facet of life, thus killing the spirit of inquiry and free thought.

The Golden Age of Islam was actually the Golden Age of Arabs, Jews, Persians, Hindus and others who through sharing of knowledge brought to the world great learning and advancements in science, humanities, mathematics, astronomy, medicine, chemistry, zoology and geography.

Once Muslims were in the majority, the histories of the conquered peoples were no longer of interest; anything that occurred before Mohammed came on the scene was not important.

The Golden Age of Islam ended in the 13th century with the invasion of the Mongols.

Say what you will, she seems normal and genuine to me. I think I'm gonna like this primary season.

You Won't See This In England

I don't like to pick on England. I wish England was the strong, vibrant, vigorous ally of the past. But it isn't so. It used to be that England and America were two countries separated by a common language; but to that separation add a common law for England's criminal justice system has become truly bizarre. Besotted with liberal coddling, England's criminal procedure laws seem designed to punish victims instead of criminals.

The Powerline has a column by historian Joyce Malcolm who comments on the recent mass disorder in London.

The most amazing thing about the reaction of English MPs to last week’s terrible violence was how surprised they were. For a country whose criminal law is invariably sympathetic to offenders, nearly always harsh on their victims, and unwilling to pay for adequate policing the surprise is that they were surprised.

In some respects, not all mind you, America has been traveling this same path for years. In Heller v. District of Columbia the right to keep and bear arms was re-affirmed. This was an incredibly important decision for it maintains the right of American citizens to defend themselves. Not so in England.

Since at least 1953 the English government has insisted that citizens depend on the police for protection and not try to protect themselves. The Prevention of Crime Act of 1953 prohibited anyone carrying an article in a public place with the idea it could be used for protection if they were attacked. If discovered they are charged with carrying an offensive weapon.

Since 1964 self-defense has not been considered a good reason to keep a handgun, even if for those who lived in a remote area. Then in 1998 all handguns were banned. Toy or replica guns are also illegal. A man was arrested for holding two burglars with a toy gun while he contacted the police.

More recently knives with points have been made illegal. A list of prohibited weapons, possession of which carries a 10-year prison sentence, includes not only machine guns but chemical sprays and knives with a blade more than three inches long. An American tourist from Arizona who protected herself from attackers in the subway using her penknife was arrested for carrying an offensive weapon.

The government does not permit even someone who is unarmed from acting forcefully when attacked if his or her assailant is harmed in the process. If a citizen is attacked in the street he is to flee. If a citizen is attacked in his home he is not to injure the attacker beyond what a court later considers a reasonable use of force. If a citizen harms his assailant he will be accused of assault, or, as the cases cited above illustrate, murder or attempted murder should the attacker be killed.

In another article posted in Ricochet, Rioting for Fun and Profit by Paul A. Rahe, the author makes the following observation concerning the state of English laws:

There are two dimensions to the British story. First – although what we call the right to bear arms had its origins as an English right, guaranteed in the 1688/89 Declaration of Rights and Bill of Rights – that right was gradually abrogated in the course of the twentieth century. Second – although the right to self-defense, the right to defend one’s person and property when the authorities cannot in a timely and effective fashion provide protection – is a natural right and had always, until recently, been recognized as such in Britain – that right, too, was abrogated in the course of the last century.

Whenever someone accuses us of being overreactive to the infirngemnet of our rights no matter how minor, remember England. Erosion is a slow process but in the long run it destroys whatever it touches.

The Cycle Of Chemical Dependency

During my career I have taken more than a few photographs similar to this one, a deceased drug addict. She died on her face and was rolled over hours after her death. The purple discoloration is post mortem lividity where the blood pooled once her heart stopped beating. Her name was Rachel Whitear. She was 21 years old.

From bad to worse to bad again - Opium, Morphine, Heroin, Methadone. The best medical science can do for the addict is substitute one bloody crutch for another. And when one crutch turns out to be a disaster, create another one.

In 1895, the German drug company Bayer marketed diacetylmorphine as an over the counter drug under the trademark name Heroin. The name was derived from the Greek word "Heros" because of its perceived "heroic" effects upon a user. It was chiefly developed as a morphine substitute for cough suppressants that did not have morphine's addictive side-effects. Morphine at the time was a popular recreational drug, and Bayer wished to find a similar but non-addictive substitute to market. However, contrary to Bayer's advertising as a "non-addictive morphine substitute," Heroin would soon have one of the highest rates of dependence amongst its users.

In the final analysis, if the addict cannot remain drug free on his own, let him suffer the consequences. Bring a halt to the endless cycle of drug use, treatment, relapse, treatment, relapse... Not only do we have to pay for their treatment, now we must give them decent jobs on top of it or face possible federal prosecution under a ridiculous law.

Nothing beats treating addicts as an endangered species - no wonder we have so many.
