"I have said that I wanted a bill to pass before we left for the August recess, but I've also said that our members need the time . . . not only get the bill written but to have plenty of time to review it. . . . So, we're on schedule either to do it now or to do it whenever."
(House Speaker Nancy Pelosi 7/27/09)

“I love these members, they get up and say, ‘Read the bill'. What good is reading the bill if it’s a thousand pages and you don’t have two days and two lawyers to find out what it means after you read the bill?”
(House Judiciary Chairman John Conyers (D-Mich)

"We strongly believe that the religion and culture of all peoples must be respected and protected, and that all people should be free to speak their minds. That includes ethnic and religious minorities in China."
(Barrack Obama speaking after 192 Muslims were killed in Xinjiang Province)

"Now that Operation Panther's Claw has shown that it can bring success and the first phase of that operation is over, it is time to commemorate all those soldiers who have given their lives and to thank all our British soldiers for the determination, the professionalism and the courage that they have been showing. What we have actually done is make the land secure for about 100,000 people. What we have done is pushed back the Taliban and what we have done also is start to break that chain of terror that links the mountains of Afghanistan and in Pakistan to the streets of Britain,"
Prime Minister Gordon Brown describing why the UK must continue military operations in Afghanistan.

All these guys have been taken into a darkened room at some point in their lives and had the frighteners put on them. There really is no hope for us if we give them our attention.

I can just see the last piece of the looney bin wall being put in place out on the US West Coast.

There are no conspiracies, there are no hidden governments, there are no evil forces intent on enslaving us.

What there is is a great big nurse who'll sing you a lullaby as she slips you your medicine. You'll smile as you go under never to awaken, and she'll feel sooo good about it all.

Once the world is one great big drugged up looney bin the big nurse will be able to go into retirement, "But I've been at it such a long time, it's all I know!! What will I do?" she wails.

Oh oh, trouble brewing in the asylum.

Viene una tormenta.

Conyers is spending too much time talking to his disgusting, crooked wife through the visitor's speaker at the local jail. He couldn't read the bill even if he could read.

What's that stink? It is the stink of a socialist/communist takeover of 1/6 of the American Economy. The part of the economy that happens to be responsible for the upkeep of our health and lives. Too tempting for a government bent on total control.

Incoming, thanks for the passionate comments and the frightening tag line. I can hear the thunder.

Rhod...
Imagine how different this land would be if young John Conyers had found some success as a fast food franchise owner.

Opie, they've already got the control. The anxiety is in anticipation of what they'll do with it.

I smell many, many dirty rats and many, many dirty skunks in the midst of a blue tinted fog. These dirty animals are trying to take away our freedom and trying to take over our lives. Please STOP THE NIGHTMARE!!! Obama and Dems got to go!! We need to clear the stink out of Washington!!

Terri, don't lose your passion. If this thing will be stopped, it'll be ordinary folks like you and DC that do it.

Incoming, all of the above and more. Everything, in fact, but resignation.

There is one thing we must fight for if we want to regain our freedoms...term limitations.

The reason we are in the situation we are in now is because we have people in the House and Senate who have lived there for years.

We need to limit their terms, cut their pension (if I can't have that great pension, why should they,) make them subject to the same Health Bill they want to force upon us (but which they would be exempt from).

Serving in the House and Senate should be a temporary honor, not a lifetime career. That was clearly the intent of the founding fathers.

Let's clean house and start over.

Teresa said...

I agree with Frances we need term limits. Our Congressman and Senators get too cocky and too big of an ego the longer their in office. We need Politicians that understand that they are serving the people and don't take us voters for granted.

Frances, it's hard to disagree with any argument for house-cleaning.

Terri, taking us for granted is the only thing they do consistently and well.

Gordon Brown, with his loony Lefty nonsense, his loony Lefty party and his obvious preference for totalitarianism, is the best reason we've ever had in the UK for fixed four-year terms.

No kidding. We certainly were fooled when Gordon was swept into office in that massive election victory. Oh... that's right. Never mind!

Nationalized "health care" is an industry with a single buyer, a monopsony; the reverse of an industry with a single seller, a monopoly.

A monopsony enables the single buyer to control the amount purchased, and subsequently limit the supply.

It's a system of imperfect competition...economists know it, commonsense thinkers know it. The only people who don't know it are idiot liberals in a freaking fantasy world.

Jeez, Rhod. Having you comment here is an ongoing education for me. Thank you.

Thank you, Nick. If we had nationalized medicine run by ATT, liberals would be wetting their panties about breaking it up.
Suddenly economic aspects would matter.
