DEMOCRATS GO NUCLEAR ON OBAMACARE

by Connie Hair @ Human Events

House Ways & Means Committee Chairman Charlie Rangel (D-N.Y.) held a hearing this morning to certify that H.R. 3200 -- the main House Obamacare bill which was the subject of all the town hall rage in August -- has met all requirements to pass as a “budget reconciliation” measure.

Under reconciliation, the bill can be passed by a simple majority vote in the Senate -- just 51 votes -- and will be given preferential treatment on the House floor as well. The Dems have apparently invoked the “nuclear option” to shut out Republicans and ensure the bill is passed before the end of the year.

The bill certified for “reconciliation” is the Ways & Means version of H.R. 3200 that was passed out of committee before the August break, and before it was read aloud at town hall meetings across the country and blasted by voters across the country.

It contains all of the horrors previously exposed: federal funding of abortion, coverage for illegal aliens, comparative effectiveness, healthcare rationing, deep cuts to Medicare. Everything the American people overwhelmingly reject.

No amendments were allowed at the hearing and no debate. Rangel told Rep. Dave Camp (R-Mich.), the ranking Republican on the committee, that he would not have preferred to do it this way, but leadership -- i.e., Speaker Pelosi -- forced his hand.

While the media cameras are focused on Harry Reid’s office door, the House of Representatives has made it possible for H.R. 3200 to pass the Senate with 51 votes. It is still possible that Senator Reid won’t choose to use reconciliation in the Senate, but the odds against it are infinitesimal.

Since it has now cleared the Ways and Means Committee (fulfilling the $1 billion reconciliation requirement), H.R. 3200 will go to the Budget Committee where they will do the same thing that was done today in Ways & Means. They will agree that the bill has met the reconciliation requirements on a straight party line vote.

The bill then goes to Pelosi and the Rules Committee where Pelosi will do the same thing Reid is doing right now: merge the three House versions of H.R. 3200 together into whatever she wants it to be, then she will schedule it for a floor vote.

H.R. 3200 could see a floor vote in the next two weeks, or the first week of November. If it passes, the House it goes to the Senate and can pass there with 51 votes.

Oh no. I feel sick.

Opus, now is definitely not the time to feel sick. This is not a surprise. Not at all. Nickie, can the USS New York be re-routed up the Potomac? With or without a Haiku?

Is there any doubt as to war being declared on "We the People". It is more than tyranny. The thieves are in the house, they are armed and they are heading towards your kid's room. What do you do now? The only difference is our kids now is the Constitution intrusted to us. Do we take it's importance any less?

This is tyranny at its worst. This is unconstitutional, dangit. I am freaking blasted mad and I'm not going to take it anymore. This is a callin for a Revolution! I think the American people need to bombard the Capitol building, House of Reps and Senate. This move by the Democrats deserves force. This is about our lives, and is totally wrong. Okay, I let some steam out so I'm not going to burst quite yet. Thanks, Nickie

We've done tea parties, the march on DC, phone calls, faxes, tweets, townhalls and they don't listen. So, what you gonna do?

FYI, until they are restriced, Home Depot has a nice selection of pitch forks. I do believe this was used with much success a couple hundred years ago. Also bulk tar is available from most paving companies and feathers you can get from bigger craft stores. This will be my stimulous for the economy. Anyone want to me me in DC?

Rattler,
Pitchforks, tar and feathers sounds like a great idea! I'll meet you in DC.

Opie, those SOB's have been ignoring the will of the people from the beginning. This election was a Socialist windfall and they will milk it until they've killed our liberties.

Arby... No surprise here.

Rattler, under those circumstances you know exactly what you'd do.

Hack, it's surely in the works somewhere.

Terri, I'm as upset as you, and venting only seems to make me angrier.

Rotti... That's the $64,000 question.

I truly believe that tar and feathers are too good for them. I recommend hangings.

Never in the course of human history have so few done so much to so many.

The only prayer is massive turnover in 2010. Even if its not enough to rescind the whole mess, it could be enough to see that it isn't funded. Barring that, it's going to be ugly, cruel and bloody--especially if the other cap-and-tax shoe falls.

This is exactly how Labour have neutered the British Parliament over the last twelve years, Nickie, and look at the mess we're in - Soviet Britain!

Thanks for posting Nickie. Now I need another drink!

Nickie the big thing for me now is what do we do as activists? We need an action list! Phone numbers, contacts, now is not the time to relent!

The test now is whether Americans have a price tag or not. The filth in Washington thinks the sticker price is very low, or maybe they've just gone mad.

Liberalism has turned individuals into selves.

Folks, I know two things. First, we need some leadership on the national level that can direct this movement. It has been a great outpouring of hope for the Constitution for the past 6 months, but now I see people sort of wondering what to do. We have called/written/emailed our Congressmen, we have attended Tea Parties and Town Halls, we have marched on Washington. Where are the national strategists that can meld all the conservative factions together so that Washington will understand that we are a force to be reckoned with and we are not going away? Right now, I believe they don't take us seriously. And 2010 is still 14 months away.

Secondly, if you haven't done so already, visit these two websites, identify where your senators and reps fall in terms of progressivism, and then make the effort to promote the action of voting out EVERY progressive - democrat or republican (or independent). This is the only way I see for us to move the country back to a semblance of her former greatness. (See my post 2010 - A Teachable Moment on my blog America! Oh How We'll Miss You). Stay engaged folks!

It sounds like the one thing we can do is to put pressure on the Democrats sitting on the fence in the house. They have to be made very aware that their political asses belong to the very pissed off American Voter !

That the Democrats are opting for the Nuclear Option comes as no surprise to me. I'd expected it to go this way for nearly two months.

What to do? Donate as much money as you can possibly spare (trust me, I know its not easy these days) and donate to candidates who oppose this madness. Go out and volunteer on campaigns of candidates who most closely match your viewpoints (an inventory of their positions helps here). MOST IMPORTANT: Deprive the left of the favorite boogeyman epithets: Keep your emotions in check. Let your heart be you inspiration, let your head command your actions.
