Ten killed and forty wounded in one of the most violent Chicago weekends in recent history.

A rare testimony to the efficacy of strict gun control laws. Bravo Chicago!

Last Thursday in Chicago:

Thirteen men shot — two fatally — during a violent six-hour stretch in Chicago.

The wind in the Windy City is being caused by people running away from gunfire.

Then again (surprise!), last night in Chicago:

One dead and eight wounded in overnight shootings. Police report that nine people were shot between 11:10 p.m. Saturday and 5 a.m. Sunday.

Apparently Chicago is seeking to win the coveted Golden Gang Banger Award previously held by Detroit for this incredible display of marksmanship last August, 2011:

Violence has erupted in Detroit. Since 6 a.m. Friday 16 people have been shot, 7 of those are now dead, and the Detroit News reports that police are scrambling to curb the bloodshed which has put the city on pace for 350 murders this year.

Then just a few weeks ago Detroit shows the 2012 Golden Gang Banger Award Selection Committee that it is serious in passing the reins to a new generation of murderous thugs:

Three teenagers, all between the ages of 14 and 15, have been charged in two separate incidents involving a mother shot to death in her own home and a six year old child killed in the cross fire of a carjacking spree.

Not satisfied with their most recent triumph, just a week later, Detroit dares to push the envelope again:

A nine-month-old boy is shot as he slept after a fight over the seating arrangements at a baby shower. Thirty-seven rounds from an AK-47 were fired into the home, killing the child.

Detroit is the city to watch as they have definitely upped their game. But both Detroit and Chicago need to keep an eye on an up and coming underdog during this March Murder Madness.

Yesterday in North Miami:

A shooting rampage at a Miami-Dade wake where one member of a gang touched the deceased and a member from another gang took offense. Two people were killed and twelve others were shot in this outbreak of mayhem outside the funeral home.

This Darwin Award funeral was for twenty-one year old Morvin Andre who plunged to his death from the fourth floor of a parking garage while trying to evade arrest for petite larceny.

Now the good news; Morvin was successful as no charges were filed and he got to keep the bag of Skittles.

The Politics Of Murder

The parents of two 25 year old British tourists murdered last year in Florida have expressed their opinion of the murderer and their appreciation on how the President of the United States conveyed his heartfelt regrets over over the loss of their loved ones at the hands of an insensate, cold-blooded killer.

Only kidding. Obugger hasn't said diddly squat to these poor people.

The 17 year old, who shot the men as they begged for their lives, will die in prison.

His conviction of first degree murder carries an mandatory life sentence without the chance of parole.

The powerfully built teen even looked bored as emotional DVD presentations about the dead men prepared by their grieving parents were shown in court.

This slack-eyed miscreant was just sentenced to life imprisonment for gunning down two British tourists in Sarasota, FL, last year.

A sneering teenager, nicknamed 'Savage', was today found guilty in the shooting deaths of two British tourists after days of damning evidence.

Shawn Tyson, 17, was charged with two counts of first degree murder for killing James Cooper and James Kouzaris in April 2011 and was sentenced to life in prison.

The teen murdered the holidaymakers after he tried robbing the young men only to find that they did not have any cash on them.

The young men begged for their lives.

This got quite a few mentions in the UK press, but here in the US ... not so much. Hardly anything.

Thus endeth the second day of arguments in the US Supreme Court hearings regarding the Affordable Healthcare Act, AKA Obamacare.

It is a tad unfortunate that just days after the White House embraced the term "Obamacare" - previously regarded on the Left as a pejorative label - a majority of the nine Supreme Court justices have given strong indications they will rule it unconstitutional.

Even more ironic is that the justices, or five of them at least, look like they might force President Barack Obama back to the drawing board partly on the basis of the argument one Senator Obama made against then Senator Hillary Clinton in 2008.

At issue today was the so-called 'individual mandate" - the federal government's act of compelling Americans to buy health insurance. It is the centrepiece of the Affordable Health Care Act - aka Obamacare - which is the signature achievement of Obama's presidency thus far.

But back during the 2008 campaign, Obama argued strenuously against the individual mandate. In a debate in South Carolina, he said: "A mandate means that in some fashion, everybody will be forced to buy health insurance. ... But I believe the problem is not that folks are trying to avoid getting health care. The problem is they can't afford it. And that's why my plan emphasises lowering costs."

In February 2008, he said that you could no more solve the issue of the uninsured with an individual mandate than you could cure homelessness by ordering people to buy a home:

[...]But the most fundamental problem for the President is that if the heart of Obamacare is ruled unconstitutional then he will be left empty-handed after spending two years and virtually all his political capital on jamming through the bill without a single Republican vote.

In short, it will make him look like a loser - not a quality Americans value in their presidents. And the fact that the Republican nominee will be able to quote Obama's own criticisms of the individual mandate against him will be the icing on the cake.

Along the same lines, when a gay student, Matthew Shepard, was murdered in Wyoming in 1998, the media went berserk and laws were passed to make sure that no one would ever again think that killing a straight person was just as bad as killing a queer. No, no, no - there's murder and then there's outrage.

In 2009, his mother Judy Shepard authored a book The Meaning of Matthew: My Son's Murder in Laramie, and a World Transformed. On October 22, 2009, the United States Congress passed the Matthew Shepard and James Byrd, Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act (Matthew Shepard Act for short), and on October 28, 2009, President Barack Obama signed the legislation into law.

However, just a year later in 1999, two homosexuals sodomize and murder a teenaged boy in Arkansas .... *chirp* ... nothing, nada from the media.

A half-hour later, he was pronounced dead at St. Mary's Hospital in Roger. A police investigation determined young Jesse was repeatedly raped over a period of hours, including with foreign objects. While enduring this ordeal, his ankles, knees and wrists were bound in duct tape and he was gagged and blindfolded. He was tied to a mattress. He may have been drugged, police say. A sedative called amitryptiline was found in the home of two men -- Joshua Brown, 22, and David Don Carpenter, 38 -- along with Jesse's body.

Just another brutal local crime, you say? Why is Farah recounting a police blotter story from Arkansas? I don't know. Something bothers me about this story. It ought to bother us. It was big news in Northwest Arkansas, but the story of Jesse Dirkhising hasn't made a ripple in the national news. I wonder why? I wonder if it's because the victim is not a part of some politically protected sub-group, a special class deserving of extra government privileges? I wonder if it is because the suspects are, indeed, members of such a group. Remember how the nation stood riveted to the details of a hideous murder that took place in Wyoming when a homosexual was tortured to death? Never mind that the crime had little or nothing to do with the victim's sexual proclivities. Uh-uh. That didn't matter.

Two weeks ago, Union College in Schenectady, NY, received Lord Monckton's "Climate of Freedom" presentation. The environmentalists may never be the same.

You have to read this. Monckton takes the environmentalists to the wood shed and spanks the crap out of them. He simply destroys them but does so in a manner that speaks very much to his own intelligence and gentle manner.

Afterwards, Monckton responds to a question from the author, Justin Pulliam; IMHO it is a particularly disturbing reply given all that is transpiring in our culture today..

I asked Lord Monckton what he had thought of the strange conduct of the professor, particularly when he had abused his authority by asking his students to assent to the correctness of a statistical technique that he and they had known to be plainly false.

Today the Chiaroscuro Foundation released an interactive map illustrating the abortion ratio by zip code in New York City from 2000 to 2009. This is a continuation of our effort to raise awareness of the extremely high rate of abortion in New York City.

Much could be said about these data. While the total number of abortions, as well as the abortion ratio, is down over the period citywide, both the number of abortions and the abortion ratio increased in the majority of zip codes, indicating uneven progress. The number of live births also increased in the majority of zip codes. A number of zip codes were among the ten zip codes with the highest ratio for at least five years. Two zip codes, 11212 and 11233, were in the top ten in eight of the ten years, and one, 11216, was in the top ten every year. These three zip codes are contiguous in central Brooklyn, at the confluence of the Brownsville and Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhoods.

Amazon.com - Tax Warrior

The State of Illinois thought that it would be a good idea to extort money from online retailors by levying a user tax. State politicians and bureaucrats were drooling over the prospect of wringing collecting an extra $150 million to piss away on the usual suspects.

WRONG!

The law redefined what constitutes a company's "physical presence" in the state, which is the benchmark used to determine if an out-of-state retailer is required to collect use tax from Illinois customers. Legislators determined that a company simply having an affiliate program in the state—where independent websites provide links back to the retailer in exchange for a small commission—was enough of a "presence" to meet the criteria.

Following a pattern already established in other states that passed similar laws, large online retailers like Amazon.com and Overstock.com simply terminated all affiliate agreements in Illinois, opting themselves out of having to collect the tax.

The result? An actual decrease in use tax collected of over $11 million. Numbers given to Chicagoist by the Illinois Department of Revenue show that in the period of January 2011 through June 2011, IDOR collected approximately $139 million in use tax. After the law went into effect on July 1, the total amount collected between then and the end of the year was approximately $127 million.

Not only did smaller websites based in Illinois lose a revenue stream, but larger companies that rely more heavily on affiliate income like Fat Wallet and Coupon Cabin simply packed up and moved to neighboring states, taking their jobs and income tax with them.

Will it come to this? I don't know. I pray to God it doesn't but we live in evil times.

I never thought that I would see the likes of Obama and his cronies running our Nation.

I never thought that I would witness such bold attacks on the freedoms guaranteed by the Bill of Rights and the Constitution.

I never thought that the media would not only stand idly by while this was occurring, but would whole-heartedly endorse America's slide into state run slavery.

There are plenty of guns in America, 250 million or so, removing the need to "liberate" an armory as the vets did in McMinn County back in 1946.

But does America still have the steel to do it? I don't doubt that our vets do, they have already proved themselves.

My doubts lie with those who have never taken an oath to defend the Constitution against all aggressors, foreign and domestic.

Heavenly Father, please give us clarity of thought, focus and the courage for what we must do to perserve our liberties, should the need arise.

Let's not get crazy about this ... but keep your powder dry.

On the surface, no biggie at all since this originally done in 1950. However, and it is a big however:

The order is not limited to wartime implementation, as one of the order's functions includes the command and control of resources in peacetime determinations.

Believe it or not, these are pencil drawings by an amazing artist, Paul Cadden.

They say the camera never lies - but these images prove you can't believe everything you see as they are not photos at all.

Instead they are amazingly highly detailed pencil drawings, the work of Scottish artist Paul Cadden.

Every hair, wrinkle and bead of water in these images has been drawn by hand, mainly with a pencil, in a pain-staking process which takes up to six weeks to produce a single picture.

Simply incredible detail. I can barely manage a stick figure and this guy does NYC.
